Very nice improvements the father gave me a similar idea when I was working with dutch buckets a mistake with hole placement and there you go at first only in half barrels but now every thing Great job Thanks for sharing.

Hey, the reason the larger diameter drain pipe allowed for the siphon to break is because the surface tension at the intake tube isnt breaking to allow air in to break the siphon.
You can solve this a few ways, you've found one of them. Slow down the flow going into the grow bed, put a small cup at the bottom of the intake tubes, or make your intake tube ends less level are other ways.
The key to break the siphon with a small drain pipe is to allow air to enter the siphon another way.

Thanks, good to see another siphon. I just connected a few U siphones the other day with 32 mm irritation tube and they work well. The siphones are on the outside of the grow bed for easy access. I remember working with a bell siphon in the middle of the grow bed several time, full of media and plants, and it was a hassle. I have several flood and drain pots and will put in the EZ-T Siphon on some if not all of them. Agree, lots of trial and error but those who post to UA-cam help prevent a lot of errors. Thank you all of the UA-camr posters.

Whatever inlet tube that you are using. Then your outlet tube should be the twice of the inlet tube!!! To be able to break the syphon much faster and efficiently!

great concept. how long is the straight run to the fish tank. ive read this should be 300mm or more.Btw if you wikipedia siphon; NO ONE really knows how they work. despite 4000 yrs of use. different models explain different siphons butno one thoery explains them all..

There are several factors in studying home aquaponics. One plan I found that succeeds in merging these is the Keiths Ponics Site (check it out on google) without a doubt the most useful course i've seen. Check out this super website.

I have a problem. My t-syphon worked twice and now wont work. Syphon made from 3/4" , drain on outside of bulkhead 1". Should I have used 1/2" to make syphon?

Simple way to avoid root problems is to parallel the drains and place the siphon in a separate container ( bucket) that is set at the same level as the grow beds, then no roots can get into it . Also the amount of drop in your outflow also has a great bearing on the way the siphon works. In one of my first attempts I had too much drop and the siphon would empty the siphon bucket before the other beds could completely empty, so I had to cut down the inflow of the T so that the drains from the other beds could pass all their volume.

Thank you! Your siphon design saved us. Bell siphons just weren't working, we tried adjusting the flare on the standpipe, we tried different sizes, and so on. Nothing would work consistently. Your EZ-T works like a charm. So last night we dug out the gravel, pulled out the bells, and installed EX-T's on all six beds (with the clean-out mod - we saw the video right before making them, so switched from elbows to T's with plugs at the last second, lol).

This looks very good. I do have a question have you tried to go smaller inlet tubes to a larger outlet? say two 3/4" to a 1" or 1 1/2".

I'm a little confused about the bulkhead. Is it actually 1/2" inside the grow bed and 1" outside?

Oh, I think I see it now. It appears the elbow that attaches to the outer half of the bulkhead adapter is a 1/2"-to-1" elbow.

Revisiting this video. Thanks. You could replace the end caps at the bottom of the bed with elbows and connect the elbows together. The pipe connecting the elbows would have to be slit. It would no long be a EZ-T Siphon but rater an EZ - O or EZ - Square Siphon.

Mike Wallace - One of his designs was like that and it filled with roots....that's why the tee's with removable plugs to allow for maintenance at the inlets.
