    Another splendid and much appreciated video Pete! Yes, the C2 does appear to smash it on quicker than the C1. I suspect doing a large project would take a bit more compressor to keep up with the DV1, which may be a limiting factor for my 5HP single stage with 60-gallon tank. I just recently purchased the new ProLite here in the USA; and plan to also get the matching ProLite S, so it was great to hear you say the ProLite still lays down a great finish, especially with the TE20 cap. I look forward to the next videos you mentioned when comparing the same caps. Thanks again!!!

      Thanks Ray, the DV1 does use a little more air than a Pro Lite with a TE20 cap but it is minimal, you won't find the Pro Lite wanting for anything to be fair which I'm sure you are finding and the pro lite S or Sri pro lite as it used to be called is a cracking mini gun, be interesting to hear what you think of them when you have got them up and running 👍

    Hi Pete, Can I thank you for your input, which is very much appreciated. I dearly wish yoy had in excess of 200k subscribers!!! I agree with you entirely, If you are a production painter, you will not be want to muck about. Its all about getting the work out, without compromising quality, whether it is in a booth or painting Guitars, the mindset is the same.
    It is my humble opinion, and I stand to be corrected. Clear coats have evolved, in the sense that, from a tack coat to a full coat, or a medium coat and a full coat. Firms like Debeers, Standox, PPG, Liquid Quartz and Mipa to name a few have moved to 2 full wet coats with nil flash off time. These are VHS clears. So you need a gun which lays it down fast and reasonably flat and as close to a conventional spray gun as possible. I think, this is where the DV1 with the C2 cap nicely fits in. It atomises very nicely, and you can clearly see the wet edge and just smash the clear on!!!!

      Thank you Niam, yes, people want different things out of a spray gun, I really enjoy trying the different guns, seeing what they do differently to others etc, I have the money and the time, many have neither or are lacking in one or the other so there prime objective is to get the job done. While I don't have those constraints I have had in the past for many years so I always try and look at things from both sides, in the case of the DV1 Clear gun the C1 gives a truly excellent flat finish especially in 1.2, however it is very slow and as you know a super flat finish is not required a lot of the time so the DV1 Clear had many pro painters not liking it at all, even in 1.4 to try and speed it up it wasn't preforming well for them, the C2 cap goes a long way to addressing this, Devilbiss always had it in there line up but for some reason held production back as only C1 was available, appreciate the comments buddy 👍

But just an idea, try the c1 with basecoats in my oppinion is a cracking cap for tricky silvers. I have the bascaot gun also with B plus, but the c1 is mutch smoother , at least with waterborn bases. Hey Pete, always nice to see a new video from you, at the end you could see there is very little difference between the two tanks finish wise as they both look fantastic mate, if I'm right the difference between the two caps is air consumption as the C2 uses more air but then you benefit from the faster speed, you could see from your test pattern on the bench that the C2 gives a wider and wetter fan. Personally I prefer the slower cap as I like to take my time so I can get the finish how I want it.
    My paint scheme arrived today so I now have a nice case full of lots and lots of bottles of paint, downside is that the bottles stand up in the case but the codes and colours are written on the side of the bottles so you have no idea which is which 🙄 I need to wright the codes on the top of each bottle 😨😂

    • @peteshobbies5383
      @peteshobbies5383  2 роки тому

      Hi John, yes, the C2 uses a little more air but it really is very little, but, as you say, you can pile it on so it probably uses less air overall, they both give a great finish, anything lacking is down to me not the guns really.
      I'm liking the smash it on approach to be honest which is a fair bit away from 2 years ago where speed wasn't a factor, having said that i enjoy using either cap and will continue to do so, the C2 is great for those critical of the C1 and it makes it a different gun, not for everyone but certainly different.
      Glad you got your paint system, i have seen some on ebay used, and they always have the code in felt pen on the lid which sounds like a good idea👍

    • @JohnWD40TC02
      @JohnWD40TC02 2 роки тому +2

      Yeah I think if you like a fast gun then the C2 is an ideal cap, since getting my DV1 C1 I've not used my GTI ProLite once for clear, it might just be me but I feel the DV1 has improved my clearcoat work quite a lot.
      I've got all the bottles marked up with the code on the lids and they are all in numerical order I'm hoping doing it this way will make them easier to find. I'll be doing my first mix later in the week and want to try the 744 silver as it's the colour of my SLK 😎 never sprayed a silver so it could be a total mess 😂

    • @peteshobbies5383
      @peteshobbies5383  2 роки тому

      @@JohnWD40TC02 as you will know the 744 is a very light silver, i think you'll be fine, being lighter it's more forgiving but a drop coat would sort it out anyway, try Honda NH642M when you get a chance, that's darker and can be motley if your not careful, but I've seen your video's and your very smooth so i don't think you'll have a problem.
      Silver will show up if someone is not steady, so if there distance/angle/speed changes as there spraying you get problems of a build up in areas which then look darker and more metallic, your smooth so i don't think you'll have trouble 👍

      @@watchthisspacecarchannel6523 That's really difficult, I guess it would depend on pricing, in the UK the DV1 is around 15% to 20% more money although Sagola are undergoing a bit of a shake up now being owned by a UK based company so there are not so many outlets so maybe pricing will change.
      I would go with the Sagola Xtreme i think particularly if it's cheaper, if the Sagola gets more money than the DV1 i would go with DV1, if they were the same price i would probably flip a coin because it's difficult to separate the two on performance

    • @peteshobbies5383
      @peteshobbies5383  2 роки тому

      Hi Sevy, yes, normally you will get less overspray with a mini spraygun than a full size gun even if the tips are the same size, this is because mini guns normally uses less air so they don't "drag" as much material through the same size tip as a full size gun.
      The best way to keep overspray down is the lower working pressure mini sprayguns, you get very little overspray with those 👍

    • @peteshobbies5383
      @peteshobbies5383  2 роки тому

      Hi David, apart from the colour there is no difference between them other than the cap, the base gun has B1.2 or whatever size on it's tip and the clear gun has C1.2 on it's tip but the tip, as far as i can see, are exactly the same, so, as with the pro lite, it's the cap that makes the difference, so, in a roundabout way, the answer to your question is yes, you can put a C2 cap on your base gun and you will have a clear gun, cheers 👍

      I normally only have one 90lt running and it can keep up with the most guns, obviously it wouldn't power a mask as well, i use another compressor for that it needed in a separate building and just run a line in

      It would be very rare that a base gun or clear gun couldn't do either. Lots of people use the base version of this gun for base and clear with good results, the clear with the C1 cap is the same, good for both but a little slow for clear, but, it gives great results and most people find the C1 setup gives the flattest results if that what you are after 👍

    • @peteshobbies5383
      @peteshobbies5383  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Mate. It's close really, if a flat finish is your main priority then the C1 with a 1.2 is the best, however it makes it rather slow, fine if you don't mind that, it's a bit like the TE20 & T110 caps on the Pro Lites, the T110 is a little flatter and best with a 1.2 but it's slow compared to the TE20 1.3 combo, i prefer the faster combo's and if you need to polish anyway it doesn't matter really
