The one and only Nat Cole was really a KING singing alone and his piano or with his trio or also supported by great jazz bands like that of his close friend Stan Kenton ! You passed away too soon...thank yoy for your artistry !
I was only twelve when I picked up a newspaper at the corner stand and read that he had died, which hit me very hard. Even at that age I felt a strong connection to this man. To this day when I hear him sing that connection is stronger than ever. He is the only artist who makes me get a lump in my throat and a tear in my eye when I hear him sing. There is just something about him which goes straight to the soul.
This is a Master piece download , and I think still Nat "King" Cole has not been recognized with justice. I hope someday, somebody is going to make a complete movie of his full musical career . Thank you very much . He was GREAT !!!
Una joya! Gracias por compartirla. Saludos desde Argentina. Viva el gran y único Nat King Cole! A jewel!! Thanks for sharing. Regards from Argentina. Long live the great and only Nat King Cole!
Nat was born in the wrong time era. Those of us now adays who love him so much would have embraced him and loved him more now than how he and his family were treated so poorly back then. Thank you Nat for all the love through your gifted outstanding talent. You are loved always.
An amazing talent which still resonates with me as I was brought up on his music in the 1950s and his voice takes me back to those times. It's a tribute to his ability not only to sing, but to act naturally in this film. A sad and tragic early death.
This is the part people don't really understand about the artist of that time...they had to eat in the kitchen..sleep in shacks...brought in thru the back door etc..all while being the main act everyone came to see! They even poisoned Nat's dog in the neighborhood where he and his wife moved to in California...that's why he will be forever my best loved singer/pianist of any era...he did it all for me to do what I do now with very little hassle..and he did it all with a smile and class...the best EVER period! NAT KING COLE my hero!! Awesome video
SWEET LORRAINE: The King Cole Trio (From the ten-inch LP entitled "THE KING COLE TRIO" - Capitol H-220), (GET YOUR KICKS ON) ROUTE 66! and STRAIGHTEN UP AND FLY RIGHT: The King Cole Trio (From the ten-inch LP entitled "HARVEST OF HITS" - Capitol H-213). DARLING, JE VOUS AIME BEAUCOUP (From the twelve-inch LP entitled "NAT "KING" COLE SINGS BALLADS OF THE DAY" - Capitol T-680). These selections from the aforementioned LPs listed above are the original mono recordings. The recordings your hear in this movie short is Nat "King" Cole in the year 1955.
It's a really great service that you have given in providing us with a series of programs capturing Nat Cole in colour and in superb sound. Thank you so much.
I been a nat king cole fan as long i can remember and i didnt remember him in his prime but i got box set with all his songs on it and he left this world a. way too soon
Thank you so much for sharing this through UA-cam, you very kind! It's been such a pleasure of watching the musical story of Nat King Cole. I just imagine I was in that bar with my girlfriend seeing him playing some of his lovely songs.
A very Hollywood mini-biography covers his "discovery" when a drunk in a bar demands that he sing for the first time, with John Collins, guitar, and bassist Charlie Harris. "Sweet Lorraine", "Route 66", "That's My Girl", and "Pretend".
Come on, guys! Nobody is insulting the GREAT Nat King Cole. This is a movie and at this point we are seing Mr. Cole, a black musician, on its way to being the King Cole.
Vaz you are a magician. I have been praying to see this again. The last time I saw it was at the cinema here in England around 1956 when I was just 16 years old. Bits of it are sometimes included in various documentaries about the great man (especially "Straighten Up And Fly Right") but to see it complete is fantastic!! Thankyou my friend. Perhaps you could try uploading again to improve the audio/video sync.
Sorry for that, but it's not my fault but the tv channel who bublished this video. I only changed the TV format back from 4:3 to the original 16:9 wide screen format without cutting out any part of the picture. By the way I hope you like this treasure.
Mr. Nat Cole helped destroy barriers that all the rhetoric from both ends failed, and will continue to fail, to do. He'd never have been called boy by me. People deserve respect...IF they are respectable.
Thank you .This was a surprised .I was hopefully finding a flat version of the first 3d musical revue starring Nat King, but not even the flat print is available on you tube
Nat was full of grace. He should have been the first "Black President of the United States, or as Frank Sinatra is reputed to have said, he would have been if he had been born White.
'Route 66' by Bobby Troup, 1946. 'Straighten Up and Fly Right' by Nat Adams Cole and Irving Mills, 1943. 'Sweet Lorraine' by Cliff Burwell (m.) and Mitchell Parish (l.), 1928. 'Pretend' by Dan Belloc, Lew Douglas, Cliff Parman and Frank Levere, 1952. 'Darling, Je Vous Aime Beaucoup' by Anna Sosenko, 1935. - from wikipedia
This is remarkably good quality-Normally this was only reserved for the biggest budget movies at the time-and even then they often did not bother! Was this early VHS?
First of all yes, they called him boy! Man that’s bad! I’ve seen this film throughout my life and I always wondered where is the original print? Who has the original negative? Because every copy I’ve ever seen is as bad as this one. It would be nice if someone could find the original and restore it. It’s too bad that they didn’t make this a full feature film they could’ve had him singing all of his great hits in the film! That plus a little bit of traveling and perhaps a guest star would’ve filled it up to be about 80 minutes long no problem there. That would be a full feature film. Maybe they just didn’t trust audiences to want to see a film like that because in the 1950s it was a different atmosphere!
Why did you not have it letterbox? .Edges on the side are cut off.I'm focused I though black entertainer were not allowed to performer at white night clubs in 1940.Unless this was New York,in Nat king coles real life situation back in 1940.
The source was not in the letterbox format. vas géza tells us: "...it's a quite rare footage, but fortunatelly I could buy a copy of it on a vhs tape."
I’m only 42 but was raised on oldies music. I’ve been listening to Nat since I was 5 years old. Guy was a legend.

Nat was born in the wrong time era. Those of us now adays who love him so much would have embraced him and loved him more now than how he and his family were treated so poorly back then. Thank you Nat for all the love through your gifted outstanding talent. You are loved always.
I don't agree, these people don't recognize talent as often.
I disagree, you can't change the past.
NAT "KING" COLE has been gone for fifty-five years, and I still miss him.
Great video. From Jazz, to making classics... Nate is the best.
Have always liked this man's music. Hard to say he's not in my top "5"!
Great musician and singer of ever. Nat King Cole I really love you.
I will never forget when i herd at a Cuban radio station in march or april 1965 the notice that Nat died. I really suffer.

Mr, Cole was one stylish unpretentious smooth gentleman. So he thought he couldn't sing, well his daughter thought the same. God bless them both.

NATHANIEL ADAMS COLES aka NAT "KING" COLE (March 17th, 1919 - February 15th, 1965): Regal, Class, Excellence, Extraordinaire!
Nat needs a movie like Johny Cash and Ray Charles

A talent nonpareil - and a one of a kind human being - the great Nat King Cole
"Fast climb, Fast fall": I can only imagine how much faster artists "fall" now compared to 1955!
Mr. Nat Cole helped destroy barriers that all the rhetoric from both ends failed, and will continue to fail, to do. He'd never have been called boy by me. People deserve respect...IF they are respectable.

Voz de la de Nat King Cole causa dolor que se haya ido tan joven.

wonderful❤
大好きです😊
The film was shot in 2:35 that's why it didn't fit on the stations screen
Epilog: The year after this was made, Cole was attacked and beaten on stage in his hometown, Birmingham, AL.
People are disgusting. It's jealousy and their stupid inferiority complex.
He was pure class on a higher international scale.
merci du partage un tresor musical
Thank you .This was a surprised .I was hopefully finding a flat version of the first 3d musical revue starring Nat King, but not even the flat print is available on you tube

People have many different musical idols and heroes..I am fine with Louis Daniel Armstrong and Nathaniel Adams Coles.
да вот и нет ничего прекрасней..
Anyone know who the drummer, guitar, and bass player were? Cozy Cole on drums??
я тебя люблю!
