I have lots of respect for Dr Talaulikar, he speaks based on evidence and gives answers based on knowledge, evidence, and research, but he never puts his beliefs in his mouth, you can see he doesn't transmit values or beliefs on what the menopause is and what women should or shouldn't do at this age, he is truly scientific. We need more doctors like him. I am tired of listening to women saying 'Don't medicalise the menopause', well my mother didn't take HRT, but she took medicines for everything else, BP, cholesterol, bones, her medicine box was full of stuff. Yeah, don't medicalise the menopause unless it's statins unless it's antidepressants, and then that is ok. There is no menopausal woman who is 60 years old and doesn't take medicine for a condition that could been avoided by HRT.
Great information. Im.47. Healthy 2 kids. No problems with periods growing up. I lost someone in my home and the trauma of been at her side during her illness broke me to pieces last year in june. Little did i know trauma can affect your hormones. My periods stopped 2 months ago. Bloods showed menoupause. This year i felt like i was dying a slow death. Mental agaony, melasma, weight gain, body pain and i felt like 100 years old. I researched htr called my gynea and went in. It was my call. Im on tibolone 2.5 mg. 3 months now and im living again. Not a wow yet...still getting there. Im sad that i hit menopause at this age and experienced so much pain. Exercise is so important but sometimes im.tired and i want to sleep. Dr is correct..manage your lifestyle. Find a way to deal with stress and exercise.
I still haven't found ONE woman who hasn't felt impacted by menopause very negatively. What is still going around is a myth of being blessed by not having periods, I would go back to have periods for ever in exchange of feeling well again. I saw my mother unyhappy, moody, in pain in every part of the body since 50 yrs onwards until she died at 82. I am not taking that path of 'natural menopause'.
