    Hey guys so I have mustered up the courage to do the big chop. My stylist did share some gems with me . My stylist keeps saying my hair grows fast so I decided I will stay the course and see how quickly my hair really grows.
    I am grateful that I have a very kind stylist, she comforted me through this process and made sure to be transparent with me what my journey moving forward looks like.
    I had the question today, that since I had been deep conditioning for some time, why is my hair still damaged? My stylist said really shaving my hair is the only way to remove all damage.
    The reality is damaged hair isn’t going to instantly get like new growth healthy hair. Once it’s damaged it’s damaged. My deep conditioning routine was to help with manageability of the damaged hair and keeping the new growth as healthy as possible.
    After stopping the gels I could really see the condition of my hair.
    I want to make it clear that my hair even though damaged will still look beautiful it’s very interesting.
    I have been incorporating deep conditioning, leave in conditioner and k18 once a month after finding those horrible split ends in April of this year.
    My entire journey is documented on my channel. Hopefully my experience will be helpful . I am very excited to start my journey, it won’t be perfect but I will share my ups and down in hopes of helping another curl friend.
    My hair is not perfect, and I am honestly kinda scared to see what happens when I wash my hair 😳.

    I definitely loved BGC. I learned to do my hair quickly. However I started to experience a lot of hair loss. I realized it was due to dryness. When on BGC lives, they would attribute breakage to how people were detangling. My red flag was they didn't do any self reflection and adjusting. They just double down. I still think they style nicely. I love the curl products they recommend. They are not good at haircare long term.

    The same thing happened to my hair. I followed the bgc method for wash and go for 2 years. Got my cuts every 3-4 months. My hair always looked good. But my hair didn’t retain length and actually broke off in spots. I didn’t use leave ins or deep conditioner because I was conditioning weekly. And now I’m on the same journey trying to repair my hair. My hair was extremely dry after following them for 2 years. I really wanted to hear their solution when a couple of you came forward but that never happened. Oh well you live and learn. Thank you for sharing

    • @rosieamelia5955

      I am so sorry. They are still defending this method and blaming clients. Most of us just needed to implement a clarifying shampoo

    • @ohemmaAna
      @ohemmaAna 10 місяців тому

      Same, I was on a very consistent routine. I will say their methods really improved my shampoo technique and how I wash my hair. But, my hair was chronically dry and I retained no length in a year! So going back to DC treatments more often and using leave in again. I also prefer not to use raw oils but a light weight serum. Less wash n gos, and stretching my hair with twists/braidouts, cuz the single strand knots were crazy

  • @adwoamk8918
    @adwoamk8918 10 місяців тому +39

    I have such mixed feelings about the BGC method because I learnt some valueable things on the other hand the state this method has left my hair, I almost wish I never heard of BGC. Even when my hair was neglected it was not this bad. Unfortunately I just can't see myself doing a big chop, although I will be trimming. The worse thing about BGC is how they made their followers feel like their experiences were invalid and wrong. Smh. If I listen to my own intuition I would have tweaked things sooner rather than later which may have meant may hair completely recovering.

    • @rosieamelia5955
      @rosieamelia5955  10 місяців тому +12

      I so sorry. The message to wash the hair is definitely valid. My impression is that the method was an experiment. They were receiving quite a bit financial from having so many women participate unknowingly that they were damaging their hair. They were also smart to dismiss and cast doubt on any concerns we may have had.
      Yes I had concerns and when I discussed them with my stylist I was given answers that didn’t make sense but again I am not a professional so against my best judgement I followed their instructions.
      My damaged could have been prevented.
      Listen please don’t beat yourself up about not listening to your intuition, I wish you the best in your hair journey.

    Thank you for sharing your journey with us Rosie! It wasn’t until I saw your video about the damage and Shelly’s video that I started to connect the dots to why my hair was feeling so brittle and not holding my wash n go sets anymore and then realized it was from that method 😕. I’m so happy I found your channel and Shelly’s because now I can get my hair back in order. I know now for my hair that deep conditioning, leave ins, and formulated oils are a must ❤

    You look absolutely beautiful Rosie but what’s new??!! 😍
    Although I love this cut on you I’m sad that you had to cut more of your hair off especially twice in 1 week! 😓
    However, I’m with you, I want healthy hair. I don’t care how much I have to cut to get there either.
    Also, I hope everyone following understands that this process takes time. The only way to get instant healthy hair again is to shave your head. Other than that you gotta go slow and steady.
    Anyway, I appreciate you sharing your journey with us. I can’t wait to see where your hair is a year from now! 🙌🏽😍🥳

    I’m grateful for this video. I got a cut a few weeks ago and I have always kept up with trims. My ends are still scraggly and I know my hair will continue to thin out. I’m changing things up. I had the same issues and cut all of my hair off to a fade. It’s growing back out and I’m realizing the Velcro ends are coming back. It’s because I still wasn’t deep conditioning and using a leave in. I’ve got at least 4-5 inches of hair all around now and I’m getting it pressed, cut and trimmed tomorrow. Gotta nip this in the bud now before I lose all the inches I grew this year. I’ve started using a gentler shampoo and I can already feel a difference
