Hi Kyle, I enjoy your videos as they motivate me with my fitness. I will be applying to join the Household Cavalry at the end of this year. Thanks a lot!
just did it at assessment centre got 11.3 but they stop u at that cause thats the requirement for paras. I definitely could have kept going but the PTs are really helpful and push you to keep going. I practiced it like a week before 😅
Paras! Some man! Good luck with basic and pcoy my man, I’m aiming for the marines. They stop the sound at 10.5 but expect u to go around 11.3 as well I believe. Well in mate 🇬🇧🏴
I'm looking at joining the reserves and have just bought all the stuff to get me through the beep test so good video as I have no idea what to expect doing this
Hi Kyle. I'm about to submit an application for the Reserves, and your channel is gold dust! I'm wary about the MSFT as I'm 43, and not the fittest individual in the world - front-row syndrome, built for comfort not speed! (I know I'm knocking on a bit by the way, but I'm applying to a national unit and they're happy to receive my application - I went to meet them last week.) Your videos have helped give me a bit of confidence that it can be done - even by a dinosaur! Keep up the good work 👍.
Hi I’m 45 and applying for the reserves. I’ve gotten unfit and a bit overweight so I’m guessing I should probably lose weight and get fit before even thinking about applying. How did you do? Your comment was a year ago so just wondering.
Hey Kyle its me again (guy who gave the long ass backstory of my deferral last time and who you gave advice to about how to improve running) . Thanks so much for your help. Just did a run this morning and smashed the 1.2 miles in 8 minutes and 9 seconds so thank you for your help Still gonna be focusing on gettingy run time down but I was wondering if you could do a video on leg workouts to pass the lower body strength test (mid thigh pull) so that I can prepare during this deferral period
I did one today in school to know my level of fitness, then I'm going to have to do a training programme for 6-12 weeks and do another to see the improvement but I regret not going further because I stopped at level 6, so I feel the urge to do better and practice
Thanks mate! Tits tough after level 12, I would include some hill sprints in your weekly training, when I get to around 11-12 it’s my legs that start to get tired. Implementing hill sprints will help build that leg strength as well as endurance. You can also do some conventional legs strength exercises, squats, deadlifts etc… Thanks for watch 👊
For those who join his/her Royal Majesty's military, keep in mind that 9.10 is the minimum requirement that has to be sustained. Doing higher levels can grant you more time between tests but it's important to keep up that minimum level throughout your service whilst also not neglecting the other requirements of 20 Press ups and 35 situps a minute (For males of age 17-29 in any RAF Trade, unsure of Requirements of the British Army or Royal Navy but wouldn'tbe surprised if they had this requirement too. Female requirements as of current differ but full effort is encouraged and respected no matter what gender nor trade)
for 20m beep test you don't want to measure 20m exactly because if you run back and forth stepping behind the cones you are running more than 20m each time. So what you wanna do is measure about 18-19m for beep test not 20 ;)
This is horrible advice. You don't step behind the cones/line, you step onto it. If you measure 18-19m, you're not covering the full distance, on top of that, mentally you won't be used to 20m. Ideally you want to measure 20-22m in practice. If you don't want to put the work in, don't bother, making it easier will only be cheating yourself. That type of mentality will get the people fighting beside you killed, if you go in with that mindset, you will not be a sought out individual.
I just passed my bleep test on September 8th, I’m hoping to go in to the infantry. I got a conditional pass due to criminal convictions and delinquency. I just got to wait for them to get back to me now. Fingers crossed it all goes well.
That’s good man, hopefully it gets cleared. I had a criminal record when I joined and I was ok. Mine was for fighting, young and dumb at the time. Good luck 👍🏻👊
@@KyleSmithFIT yeah mines similar, I had a couple of assault and obstruction charges + I failed to comply with an order from the court as well. My convictions are spent now so it should come back okay I guess. I signed a declaration of agreement for disclosure of information ( DBS check ) So I’m wondering why they made me email them my convictions/offences and the dates I went court 🥲. Maybe I’m overthinking it lol.
I'm almost sure that when I first did a bleep test it was 22 yards between turns. I think this was set as the distance between cricket stumps ?. I find that turning using alternate legs to push off helps get a few extra turns in, turning and pushing off thebsame leg tires that leg over the test.
My PB was 17.5, which was the standing record in my battalion when I was 19. The running part of the Australian army BFA was 8:36 for the 2.4km run. But sometimes we did the beep test as part of our PT.
You’re just putting 1 foot into the line? In the assessment centre, what are the rules for that? I’d have thought surely you have to step over the line with 2 feet, I just did my first bleep test yesterday, and was stepping two feet to cross over the line and back in, and I got a level 9.1 before I truthfully striked myself out. Just wondering, cos if I’m allowed to just put 1 foot into it and turn around, I’d be making level 11/12 for sure.
Currently training for infantry soldier in the army and I have to get 8.7 I failed my first time round as I was clearly unfit but since then I have been training and I’m redoing it in a week time so hopefully I’ll get it this time round
I've always found that if I have to be talking during a bleep test that my score really suffers. Perhaps this is one of the reasons you didnt get what you expected. Great effort and video though

Once you hit 7.1 you automatically get a 90 if you make out everything else for the AF and if you are 25-30 age range anything after that is just extra
Do you still need level 6.5 even now ? I want to be medic which joining at 18 is level 8.07 but I’m joining as junior soldier do I need that level 8.07 at assessment centre? I’d prefer the 2km run instead of a bleep test I just can’t do them in terms of pacing
Currently a very unhealthy person who's looking to go into prison security, have a long way to go before I'm able to hit the requirement, but this video is really helpful in knowing what to do and what not to do

this is sound advise. however, for anyone looking to get fit or join the army, you don't need to worry about doing your own bleep test. if you can run 10km then you can easily pass the bleep test. just work on your endurance then after that, work on your speed and you'll be fine

how do you warm up for bleep test?
To be honest I normally don’t. It start slow enough to walk so I kinda use the first 2-3 levels as my warm up
