Also I gotta say this is one of the coolest and most tasteful swaps on UA-cam. A 5 cylinder is just what the 944 needs. It makes the sound I'd want one to make
I swear the 951 can lift its front wheels at full boost, it spooks the heck outta me. I bought it that way. It eats hewer vets and stangs, yeup its a keeper.
Been watching episodes since the Gallardo header install and I love the effort you've made to show the build as much as possible. I was actually debating prior on a 5 cylinder swap into my Datsun and you've given me the motivation to just go for it. Thanks!
@@BoostBrothersGarage 510. The Z cars are nearly impossible to find in decent shape for a reasonable amount unfortunately, values have gone up too high
@@BoostBrothersGarage absolutely, they're fun little reliable cars. I've seen a few swaps with the L series inline 6's that the Z cars had so I don't think an 07K or maybe a Volvo swap should be difficult on the basis of engine Bay fitment. I'm not looking forward to the engine mounting and stuff though lol. What turbo are you going to be using on the 07k? I can't remember if you mentioned it or not
Been following this build from the start. LOVE that sound!. Guys, get the swap kit completed already. I wanna buy one, but I don't have time to make my own oil pan, etc.
Looking forward to seeing dyno plots from the HX/Spa manifold combo. I'm building an 07k powered track car too (mid-engine 73 Beetle) and was thinking I may go that route as well since I have a ton of other fab work to do and that would save a bunch of time.
I’m actually not running the Spa manifold either HX35, I’ll be using the Gallardo header. Alan will be using the Spa with the G25-660 though and we will be documenting that.
@@BoostBrothersGarage ah right, two too many cars to keep track of. So you're using the HX35 with the Gallardo header, and Alan's running the Spa with the G25-660? Will be interesting to see the comparison. Just curious, where did you get the Gallardo header from, I looked on Ebay thinking that might be a good short term solution but man they're realllly proud of them.
@@BoostBrothersGarage any particular reason you used the off side header or was it just it faced the direction you needed? Being mid-engine I have room to face it rearwards.
Awesome build! Looking to do the same with my 84. Question. Do you have to use a power steering rack with the 07k or could you use a manual rack? Saw that on the swap kit there are components for power steering but want to know if this is completely necessary. Thank you!
I have converted my factory power rack to manual. For the kit to work, i used a PS pump and pulled the veins out of it, then packed it full of grease. Now it’s just an idler and doesn’t create pressure. You have to have something in that spot because that is where you transition from the crank driven belt to the accessory belt. At some point we will develop a manual steering conversion in lieu of the power steering relocation kit but it’s a ways down our list.
What engine oil did you use/how was the coolant system's condition when you blew the head gasket? It seems almost as if the car couldn't take the sudden load applied to it after years of sitting.
awesome build so far! Do you plan on putting a cam and springs in the 07k or just going straight to turbo? Also how much does it cost to get these engines dyno tuned? keep up the great content!
I don’t plan to do cam and springs right away, as I think I can get the power level I want with just the turbo. The additional RPM would be nice though. Not sure how much it costs to tune, it is being included in our overall R&D bill from Performance Electronics. With that being said, the ECU and harness package we will be offering will come preloaded with a NA or turbo tune. Appreciate it!
Boost Brothers Garage awesome! for the turbo build are you going to keep stock cam and springs? the additional rpm might get you an extra 50 whp. also will the ecu tunes you guys are going to be offering work with an aftermarket cam?
I’ll probably play it by ear on the cam. I assumed could get to 400 wheel without it, which is supposedly the limit for stock internals. If I can’t get there at a safe boost level then I’ll for sure do top end stuff. The tunes will be safe base tunes designed for just intake, exhaust and boost if needed. Once Alan or i add cams, which will certainly happen at some point, we can have the cars tuned at PE and get it available for people.
i’ve been eyeing this 944 in my area for a while now but i just do t got the savings just yet!!! also idk if it’s a coincidence but the video is 9 minutes and 44 seconds long (if y’all did this on purpose y’all are baller)
I know it's 2 years too late to tell You but if You had thinned the paint more it would have gone on smoother and required less sanding and buffing, race cars only have to look good from 50 feet away.

Wow. Thanks. Been looking all over for a better German swap. Outstanding job. Ill be in touch to buy your modification pieces.

You guys give me hope for my 944 race car . And you can bet its going to get your 5 cyl kit in it when i get the chance.

Correct, I just did it so it would face forward, otherwise it would have gone directly into the firewall.

Hell yeah, great year! Looking forward to 2020

I was using Driven oil. The coolant system was ok but the car lived it’s entire life on the track.
So the Gaillardo header just fits right on there?
Just notch one hole and it’s done!

Do you think the 5 cyl swap would be possible on a 924?
It is a bolt in affair for the 924S but unfortunately not the standard 924 as the crossmember etc is different.
Hey im interested in buying your kit for my 924S but im curious on how you guys did the wiring harness/ECU?
We are using a ECU and swap harness from Performance Electronics. It is a complete plug and play setup. We will be offering it on our site as well!

why cant you americans paint a car with proper knowledge?
We can. I just chose not to invest in a proper paint job for a track car that I could care less if I wad up. It’s not rocket science.
