In this video we discuss David's 240SX build. Why did we chose the K24 vs the SR20? What is the overall price difference? Is the SR20 a thing of the past?

They make over 450-500bhp stock block in civics imo its best bang for buck I’ve spent a shit ton on my sr if it blows then it’s going and a k24/20 is coming

Yeah I mean it was obvious that the K is a better overall engine but I was surprised that it was within 10% of the upfront cost to swap.

I recently purchased a JDM K24A, and a BMW 6-Speed ZF Trans, Waiting on my TF-Works phase 2 s13 kit to get shipped out, and I am already at $4,700 bucks. That being said I have not purchased type-s oil pump, VTC gear, Clutch, Driveshaft, Wiring, ECU, Intake manifold..etc..
I would say that $5K gets you the bare essentials to physically bolt the longblock/trans in the chassis..

      I have a list for my s14 k swap and it’s about 10k.
      Engine- K24a2
      Transmission-CD09
      Turbo manifold
      Turbo kit
      Manifold intake-Ktuned

      K swap kit-TF kit

      Engine harness-wiring specialties
      Clutch-6puck
      Oil catch can
      AN lines and fittings
      Fuel rail/filter-radium
All parts listed are new I am pretty sure I am missing something but that’s just for the swap without any internal work. I am sure it can be done for less with used parts

@@hegaliandialectics4289 for all TF complete K swap kit, including driveshaft, intake, headers, harness, radiator, clutch would be around 6-7k. I’m not including engine/transmission nor any fuel system, cooling system or engine management (ecm). All included, you can be looking just around 9-11k. You can always get a cheap engine/transmission from the yunk yard and drop the price a bit. I’m already looking at mine and it’s around 14-15k to complete but it’s always something coming up that potentially will raise the budget…

I think if you use your car as a tool ie drift/race car it only makes sense going K-series, it is defacto the best 4 cylinder obtainable engine ever produced. But seeing as everyone and their moms K-swapping something, its kinda like the LS swaps, it gets boring pretty quickly. If youre building a street car it could be a bit classier staying within the family.

      @rars0n 2 роки тому +1

@@toad0720 You can buy a brand new TT RS crank straight from Audi for a little over $1400. IMO that's not a bad price at all for a brand new forged crank. Look around and you can find them for even cheaper. Depending on what your plans are for the bottom end and overall build, I think the TT RS crank makes a lot of sense. I probably wouldn't bother with it on a low boost or naturally-aspirated setup, but on a built engine, why not? It's a relatively cheap upgrade for a ton of peace of mind.

@@toad0720 Tell me about it! I've got a Mk2 Jetta sitting in my garage waiting for a 07k swap. These engines are disgustingly cheap! But I want to build it right. Can't decide if I'm happy going N/A or if I want a 400+ hp boosted build. I think I might just start out without a turbo, but build the engine for future boost, because I'd really love to see how the car feels and sounds without a turbo before I go and put one on there. Plus, I can get the car mostly sorted out and running well before adding the extra turbo parts.
I've been eying up the Xona Rotor turbos ever since Forced Performance announced them (I've done a lot of business with FP in the past, they're a great company). So I'd really like to try one and I think there's a couple great options for the 07k.
