My very favorite artist ever was Lefty Frizzell! However, Merle is a close second. It's no wonder that Lefty hands down was Merle's biggest influence! In my opinion Merle is clearly the most gifted C&W artist of all time. He was a great & versatile singer, prolific songwriter, a fine musician and entertainer! Forty # 1 hits from 66' to 87'. HIs talent was completely off the charts! RIP Merle

Thank you, Scott, for doing this interview. It is such an amazing document of the best country singer and songwriter who ever lived: The Hag! I too saw him around 30 plus times from KY, NC, SC, GA, AL. He never did a bad show and knocked out the footlights every time!

How I miss Merle I sing most of his songs in memory of his time here with us. He was a singing icon “What a wonderful voice he had”! Country and Western music just won’t be the same with out that voice. Love Merle he is missed!
