- Going through the gears and hitting the side roads for the first drive of the year. In case you haven't seen any of my other videos, this is a 69 Ford F100 with a mildly upgraded 390, 5 Speed, and a 3:70 rear gear. Truck runs very well and sounds even better. Well, at least to me it has a great sound, Comp 270 cam, Edelbrock RPM, 750 Holley, with the Sanderson headers, Flowmaster mufflers and side exit exhaust....
Sounds similar to my '68 with a bored/stroked 427. Can't mistake that startup sound...nor passing!
When can I come pick it up, that's one of my dream trucks. I had a 69 250 2 wheel drive, cops took it, it was all original paint on it it was mint, I felt like I was in a parade every time I drove it. People would wave, and give thumbs up were ever I went, I'm from MN. So not to many of them around, had a 72 also , it blew up so I had it at my bosses company and didn't get back to it for a while and he junked it, it was rust free also, so now I'm with out a bump side.
I know the feeling, people love to see these trucks and everyone has a story to tell. I can imagine they are hard to find up there! Sorry for your losses. . .
Looks and sounds awesome!
I have a 1970 and I just got back on the road. 390 / T5
can you give us specs on the build like cam etcs? please thanks! also what adaoter kit did you use for the t5 swap
Great Looking truck. Sounds great!
Thanks!
Looking good and sounding good.
Thank you, I appreciate it. Thanks for checking it out...
Sounds great! Reminds me of my black '70 Shortbox I had. Nice truck!
Thanks, I do like this sound very much as well…
nice truck.
Right down the road from me in Cartersville. Had to have seen each other at shows. I got Black 69 too.
Wow, small world! I don't show much, been to Ridz by River with it once, didn't stay long. . .
This truck is beautiful! And it runs so good!
Sounds just like my old truck..granny 1st second third and reverse on the floor 390 four barrel carb and the way video is set uo makes me feel like im driving it again with its steering and body leaning
Yes, lots of body roll compared to today, a fun drive...
I need to do this 5 speed swap in my 67. Sounds and looks great man!
Thank you. After years of three-on-the-tree, I couldn't take it any longer! No regrets...
@f100inc3 good to hear. Need to start doing my research. Saw your one video where you did the swap. Didn't look too bad. Time to track down a T-5!
@@evanbaldwin2703 If you are local to Metro Atlanta, I have one. Good luck on your swap!
@@f100inc3 hmmm how much for the trans I’m in the area as well
@@f100inc3how much you want for the t5 I'm in Atlanta
Is your truck lowered? If so, what set up you running?
I am running drop beams up front with 1.5 coils cut and the rear has drop shackles...
Did you go with the old Z bar or did you go hydraulic? I tried to stay true to the old school and wait with the Z bar. But in doing so I have an issue with my throw out for catching on my header flange. Had to put a spring on it and it doesn’t feel confident when I’m going through the years.
I am using the factory pedal/linkage/bellhousing. I am using Sanderson headers and don't have any clearance issues with the clutch linkage. 👍👍
Whats the 5 speed out of. Any adapter problems
It is a World Class from a Mustang. The Wilcap adaptor works well, no issues and uses stock clutch, bellhousing, and linkage.
How has the t-5 held up for you? I have the transmission to do the swap its a world class t-5 but im reading some people say d9nt put them behind a 390 because of the torque
I would say it has worked out of me because I don't thrash my truck, I am not doing burnouts etc. I think the torque info you got is correct, but if you are just driving it like me, it is fine. I get on it pretty well but i just don't thrash it. Thanks.
@f100inc3 thanks I really like your build. I don't beat on stuff either, but I will let the secondaries breathe on occasion. Maybe a burnout or two a year. I think I'm going to go for the swap. Worst case scenario I look for a t5z while I drive it.
@@AllisterBurris I had the T5 already so I thought if I blow it, I will upgrade to a Tremec. Sadly, I rarely get the chance to get it out so I am guessing the T5 will be around a while. . .
Also what's your wheel and tire combo?
@@AllisterBurris 15x8 all around, 275/60/15 rear, 235/75/15 front.
Great truck I got a 68 ranger 390 5 speed. What’s your thoughts on the comp 270 cam? I am running a Howard’s gt cam in mine and was just wondering.
I have to say the 270 has worked out quite well. The mid range torque is excellent… thanks
Thank you I have been pleased with Howard’s cam. It also has great midrange torque.
I have 1 I miss it my badass very fast
Where you located this truck is nice I sold a 69 years ago and always wanted one that was a 5 speed
I am in Georgia...
What lifters and rocker arms are you running?
Comp lifters, stock non-adj rockers...
@@f100inc3 I’m buying a truck with 390. It has roller rockers and they are ticking. Guy says they are showing correct on feeler gauge. Just wondering if I need to put stock ones on it?
@@aslmx1918 Are they adjustable? I can only imagine they are in need of a valve adjustment.
@@f100inc3 they are and I will try. I hope that’s all it is.
@@f100inc3 forgot to ask. Do you have stock push rods?
Nice!😀
Thanks!
I live in Georgia and I’m trying to find someone to build my 390
@@winoism What part of Georgia?
@@f100inc3 Newnan but can travel. Where are you or ho do you know? Thanks
@@winoism I'm in North Cobb area, you can try Mo's speed shop in Dallas, D&A Machine Shop in Canton, it is so hard to get the machining done right now. Best of luck to you....
