She's lovely Ben I received mine on the 7th July. I planted her in the garden she's very happy, absolutely crammed with flowers & buds just like yours and she's held up incredibly well for such a young rose in all this windy rainy weather we've had recently, she seems to be taking it all in her stride so far. I'm very impressed🌹
❤❤❤ I’m so in love with this gorgeous romantic rose & I cannot wait until it’s availability in the United States‼️Such beautiful shades of pinks with deep emerald green foliage & the extra bonus of having an awesome aroma‼️Thank you so much Ben‼️🥰❤️ Debbie ~ Texas🇺🇸
So excited to be going to London on Friday after seeing your videos. I ‘m thrilled that I will be looking intently for Penelope lively at Hampton Court.
We are waiting for our R. Penelope Lively to bloom in our garden, having bought 3 bare root to plant as a group .. it's the middle of May, and there are plenty of of buds but not open yet ... so thank you for your review of this rose.
How are the thorns on this one? I'm in the US, trying to save room for this one planning my new rose bed. Thank you for your videos, you've really helped me pick roses out that I didn't even consider.
I am a fan of your posts. So informative and entertaining!!! Now, I am waiting for Penelope Lively to be available in the US. I am building a new flower bed and wish to put three pink rose bushes that are greatly fragrant. Leaning towards Penelope Lively, Gertrude Jekyll and not sure about the third one. I like big roses that can be use for cuttings. I am also looking for ones that have blooms throughout blooming season. Based on fragrant and flowering and my other interests could you recommend a shrub? I am debating between Princess Alexandra of Kent and Gabriel Oak. Olivia Austin is a flowering winner but I read that it is not too fragrant. and Harlow Carr blooms are small. Thanks for advice
Hi Ben, love your show and watch them all the time. I am a person with limited space. Could you do a top 5 you would recommend. The top 20s and top 10s just confuse me. I want them all. Help!
Hi, and thank you for your comment. I understand that you might be tight for space but the top five ranking roses in my top 20 are by far in my opinion the best varieties out there My current ranked number one is bring me sunshine, followed by Gabriel Oak at number two Silas Marner at number three Hyde Hall at number four And Eustacia vye at no 5 If this is not the information you’re looking for, let me know I’m not sure whether you’re asking me to create a collection of small and dwarf varieties ?
I never fully review arose. I’ve not had in the ground for at least 12 months. Therefore the two releases for 2023 won’t appear in any of my best of selections or the top 20 until it’s proven itself in the garden first
I am so disappointed that David Austin did not release Penelope Lively in the United States. When you give such a glowing review of this rose what could be the reason for not releasing it?
The rose will be cleared for release soon enough. It takes at least 11 years to bring a new variety to the market here in the UK clearing it. With plant passports carrying out US zone trials and making enough vegetative matter for the budding process to be carried out is no small undertaking. This takes a huge amount of time it will be with you soon enough.
Your Penelope lively looks amazing unfortunately mine turned up friday and to say i was disappointed is an understatement, very small ,no buds no flowers 😢opened the box and have felt sick since guttered mate have sent david austin pics and a email 🤯
I actually managed to order three and all three were particularly small - in comparison to the Getrude Jekyll that arrived they were probably 3 times the size and smothered in blooms. Could help but think that the prime examples got sent to Hampton Court!
@@phoenixjaphoenixja12 this rose has only just been launched in the UK. Copyright licensing and paperwork needs to be sorted out along with enough stock before it will be launched in the USA, I’m not sure which of the two releases from this season you will get put. I feel strongly that you will get at least one for this coming Bare root season
I have to say, I was a little disappointed with the Penelope Lively rose I received from David Austin, I had one bloom on it and 2 other buds but on 3 other stems it looked like they had been cut so can only presume they had bloomed already…nothing like the amount of buds I’ve seen on other shrubs from reveal videos on UA-cam. Hopefully time will reveal this shrub to be as lovely as yours 🌹
@@helenhobson5532 I ordered mine the day before they sold out so I figure the best healthiest roses were sent out in the first week or so. With how abnormally cool and wet july has been in England after such a lovely May and June it’s really affected a few of my new David Austin roses, one has black spot so bad…hoping next year they really come into their own
beautiful flowers kindness in your hearts ❤️ god bless you more
“Live and World exclusive” whooohoo
Hopefully, they will sell it in the USA soon too. Some never seem to get released here. I love the raspberry tones!
You will get all of them, sooner or later

Having watched im very tempted to add to my wish list.
Love the butterfly who comes to say hi at the end. Your garden must be so welcoming!
I love it
I promised I'd stop buying roses, then this stunner comes along... we'll have to find room someplace. 😅
What a beauty!
Piekny ogród i przepiekne roze🌹

The dark foliage looks perfect with this rose colour!
She’s a beauty Ben 🍃🌹🍃
Sold out but got Dannuhue that smells amazing.
I hope it comes to New Zealand
Gardener Ben i used the code and will blame you if i have too many gorgeous roses this year hahaaaa!!☆
I hope the link also worked for you
@@the_gardenerben i used petals24, thanks. Yes it did work. Cheers.

Your most welcome, it has thorns but they are small as they go

I’m sure PL will become available soon I would go with Gabriel oak as the 3rd
I want.

Some David Austin roses I bought recently had no blooms , sceptre d Isle had loads of blooms .
Looks beautiful! How does the fragrance rank compared to Gertrude Jekyll?
Personally, I write them equally, both receiving eight stars for fragrance from myself
I really hope this rose will be available in Europe soon 😍 I’m in love 🥰
I’m sure bare root season will bring you the news you want
Yes ❤
Lovely rose. Can't wait to get it in the US. But it didn't make it on Ben's the top 20 most fragrance in 2023. Maybe it didn't need to :)

One thing about these roses, they are exorbitantly expensive! We’ll see.

You are not Ben Hamilton. They obviously send him the best they have. They get massive advertising from him on You Tube. Am I a cynic probably.
@the_gardenerben all sorted david austin 👍 were great about things tbf 👏

Looks like a mix between Gertrude Jeckyll and Englands Rose…
