Yes my final Samsung phone broke about 6 months ago so I bought a Chinese rugged phone which will not break, so far. So the matching smart watch became useless. I was then introduced to a Tandorio field watch which uses a Seiko NH35a movement which led me down the rabbit hole of watches. I have never owned a mechanical/auto watch and I love it. In 2 weeks I have added 3 watches, all quartz but, another 2 mechanical Seiko's are on the way....
Good review, you are so on point about the apple watch, it is literally an expensive rental designed to become obsolete after a few years.
