Ever since I read about the Silurian Hypothesis, I've been fascinated by the idea that an advanced alien civilization might have existed on Earth before humans. The thought that they could have faced a cataclysmic event leading to their extinction, leaving barely a trace, really makes me wonder about the transient nature of civilizations and our own place in the universe.

If they had got to space, geosynchronous satellites would still be there. Couldn’t have been too advanced, meaning any Silurians would be indistinguishable from any other Neolithic culture.
Cuz the chixalub comet or however it’s spelled was only six miles long, meaning earth can be hit by a global killer comet or meteor that wouldn’t even cause a wobble in a satellite at geosynchronous orbit. So the lack of any space debris when we got up there is a big point against the hypothesis.
Not only BEFORE us. Also DURING us. They never went away.

This channel turned into History Channel real quick.
It makes sense for the dominant, intelligent, sentient species on Earth to have been somewhat reptilian in nature and not ape-like. Dinosaurs roamed and "ruled" the planet long before mammals like ourselves and, if you choose to believe in evolution being the way that we've managed to go from wild apes to civilized homo sapiens, it's not a far fetch to think the same thing could have taken place with dinosaurs or reptiles long before it did with us.
Now, I'm not saying these are MY personal beliefs, but it's definitely an interesting -- and somewhat terrifying -- hypothesis. There's plenty of "buts" and what-ifs" in regards to it but it doesn't seem any less likely than our own evolution story, plus it may quite possibly explain a lot of the mysterious ancient myths and legends in regards to "lizard people" that have been spoken and passed-down by humans for thousands of years.
Random sidenote here, but I found it impossible to type out "lizard people" without thinking of the UA-cam channel, The Why Files, and Hecklefish with his intense belief in "lizzid people." If you know the channel, you'll easily understand. But, if you don't, I highly recommend checking it out! It's definitely top-notch content!
Edit: In regards to hypothetical lizard people, it's equally as simple to assume they could have been extraterrestrial and hadn't actually evolved here. Again, I'm not saying these are MY beliefs; It's just a well-known theory and I should have mentioned it somewhere in the original comment but forgot.
A theory requires there to be a sliver of credibility to it. A more apt name would be white noise

We definitely will if we don't colonize off earth in the next billion years because the sun will expand and cook the earth. But a billion years is a long time, countless other things could do us in long before that. The odds are not in our favor, not impossible odds, but plenty of great filters like gamma ray bursts, asteroid impact, nuclear war, etc.
It is inevitable that man with his high technology will perish. I am sure there will be a few outliers who may survive to start all over again. I appears that our DNA has been manipulated fusing the first two chromosomes together which gives us one less than the chimps. And the addition of the FoxP2 gene that reshaped the voice box to allow language. Maybe when we have screwed up our hay day who ever is responsible for these changes will give another species a chance to dominate. It is speculated that the fusion of the first two chromosomes was to prevent cross breeding with the great apes that would allow us to proliferate as our own species.

One piece of human anthropology I find to be very interesting is that at one point, it is estimated that the entire human population of the earth got as low as about 6,000. I believe that was during the last ice age, but not certain. Pretty amazing to think how close we came to extinction and now there is over 7 billion humans.
They would have to turn the mantle of the Earth inside out to get rid of all of advance technological artifacts.
Surely, they're would be residuals manufacturing gases or structures.
There should be, but we'd need better mining technology to get there. The Kola Superdeep Borehole SG-3 is a good starting point, but we need to go deeper and wider.
I think there's a very good possibility there was a advanced civilisation before us but how advanced is also the question. There's also a chance we don't originate from Earth ourselves. We also might not have heard anything from space cause we are the first advanced civilisation or there might no be any civilisations in our galaxy and if thats the case then we will never make contact with a another civilisation

All I know is I what I've seen with my own eyes. Gobekli Tempe is a great start in my opinion.
The idea is fascinating. The only problem I have with the Silurian Hypothesis is that life on Earth wasn't developed enough for sapient species at that time. Life had barely even evolved simple eyes at that point let alone big brains. We also find no evidence of any species even making the attempt while having countless examples of our own journey. I think it's more likely that any intelligence on Earth prior to human probably weren't native. Ancient man's stacks of stones are already looking rough. An advanced species would be using far more resilient materials but still most evidence would likely be gone or unrecognizable by now

If you think about it, in millions & millions of years, will anything be left of us? Someone said something about satellites, but satellites also don't stay in orbit forever. It's still an intriguing thing to think that the possibility is real. The only way someone could 'debunk' this theory, is if they were actually there...and we know that's impossible. Remember that just because we haven't found anything, it doesn't mean it never existed.

I think there was a civilization before us. The point is ,it wasn't advanced as you think. First,you need to consider which creatures are the ones of civilization. Like,you have skeletons and some footprints.which of them is creature of civilization. A lot of creatures before walked on four limbs and if even on two their upper limbs were not free as ours to build anything. They were either short or used for flying for example. Its impossible that we yet didn't find any remains of people like reptiles. Because it wasn't as we imagine. But this creatures could have other things. Social order. They may not having ability to build or even write. But they have ability to speak on their tongue,to rule and reign over. I would reconsider theory of language appearance. We have Myths,Legends,stories of great past. We have our orders ,traditions and customs we're following. People remember of their birth as There was snake ruler ,who crated waters of chaos,then was or wasn't bird who made land,and then tree appeared from land and people came from it. To anyone reading this:
I believe that our imaginations and freedom of mind has caused us to sway too much into the realm of science fiction rather than scienctific possibility; and im not talking about freedom being the issue. But what if we are think about this all wrong? It is a fact that language and culture can affect the way we think, which pure meaning of that is: Your perspective will affect the way you interpret information. What if the answer has been in front of us the whole time, yet is the least option we would choose.
I propose a Christian POV for just a sec. The same way that we can look at something that is so familiar, like water, and things in nature that has so many secrets lying beneath the surface and if we could just get out of ourselves and learn about the world from an honest POV we would get the totallity of what is being expressed. This is the true teachings of Jesus, yet so many miss it because they keep looking at this from a religious perspective. If you think about what is truly being taught, it is love, wisdom for survival, business, and dominion, as well as the way to reach higher potential along with information about reality.
Here is the proposed question: What if Jesus was this being called "I am" (Which essentially means, he is whatever he wants to be); extended name: I have been, I am, and Will Be, but in a flesh form trying to connect with us humans helping us to reach our higher potential? Im not talking about this thing that we created called "church", or religion, but im talking about the being itself. What if "The garden of Eden" story was a story of the way for us humans to become a type 5 civilization to harness the stars and live in peace, but there was another entity that exists in some realm that we have no real knowledge of that was aiming for our downfall? What if the ancient societies of old like, the egyptians, and the myans and all sorts of cultures were aware of it, and not only that but was able to tap into that created the marvels of the world today? This is literally what Christianity was supposed to be about if we correctly look at the teachings of Jesus, which by the way is the best source of real data for what is being called "the supernatural": tapping into this other realm that could be abundant but we have so little knowledge of.
Even bigger question of today, what if it was our very contempt towards this higher being, was exactly what is keeping us in the dark where as seemingly technologically inferior societies were able to produce things not even we can replicate? I find it fascinating at how we humans can contradict ourselves, yet keep going in the same direction. One of our greatest philosophers once said this is the definition of insanity, yet it is prevelent in the higher authority of our society.
Thank God that the human race is infinitely adaptable.
