Greetings, pilots,
It is our greatest pleasure to announce that we are working on a new DLC for IL-2 STURMOVIK called Fortresses and Focke Wulfs: Dieppe! It will find its way to your computers during late 2024. To celebrate this occasion, we have permanently reduced the price of our previous DLC, the IL-2 Sturmovik: Desert Wings - Tobruk AND we will be running an additional 50% discount starting today, October 16, at 7pm CEST / 10am PT, for a whole week - until October 23.

Currently re-reading Desmond Scott's autobiography of his time leading from post BoB to Normandy and after in “Typhoon Pilot”, where he became the youngest Group Captain at the age of 25. Starting from his introduction to the “Bulldog” (on account of its front-on appearance) he fell in love with this most unforgiving of aircraft. I love it too. Shout out to my Kiwi cousins, as Scott was from the Land of the Long White Cloud.
I have to get my hands on that one! There is also a cool book by a Belgian typhoon pilot, but I don't know if it's been translated from french to English. The title in french is "mes oiseaux de feux"(my birds of fire). But I know for a fact that Pierre Clostermann's book, the big show, is a best seller! Have you read it? It's great!

Good to see that the aircraft set will be mostly (but not entirely) aircraft and/or aircraft versions/models NOT already represented in Il-2 Great Battles' stable of aircraft.

The time from the later Blitz to the more successful missions of the 8th air force campaign is often neglected. Happy to see it be represented in a sim heavily. This can also help me to learn about this period as well. 🙂

Those teams did amazing job of this I can’t wait for this flying b-17E p-51A and early spitfire Ixa till the release of late 2024. We also need a flyably b-24d and the island of Malta in a future but I need a much powerful computer before getting this game.
absolutely pumped to finally see a B17 in a sim for once. Be incredible to have this and VR support along side it.
Way to go. Highly appreciated. Glad to see someone is taking care of the often neglected timeframe 1941/42 on the channel front. Now also get someone on board who manages to implement a proper functioning career mode like in Wings over the Reich, IL-2 GB or with the now defunct Desastersoft campaigns.

please do a UI revamp, it's one of the weakest part of this sim and put new people off by archaic and flawed design (not byTF fault ofc.)

Same, but only if VR is good (e.g. BMS level good performance in SP) and I will be buying gradually. Unfortunately too many times I bought things which today I can't enjoy any more because performance degrades in VR sims.

Great news! Always prefered the gun feel in clod better than great battle or dcs, even on the early 109 the canons make everything shake, always found it impressive! This is unexpected and makes me wonder why great battles devs said b-17 was too complexe for thier engine to implement. Anyway, you can sign me up for sure! Will VR be implemented by that point?
They need to revert the 7.7 sound and effects back to the original. When the game was launched the 7.7 sound and effects were so satifsying. The moment they came out with the update changing those effects i slowly stopped playing

Are all aircraft listed flyable to the players?
Yes all listed aircraft including the B-17 are planned to be flyable.

While, kind of, welcome these models look very dated when compared to the other side of the IL2 stable or DCS. I know it’s not exactly a new sim but neither were they, both having developed their graphics engine over the years. Cliffs doesn’t seem to have improved the aircraft models. Also, please release VR BEFORE this DLC. Cliffs had some outstanding features at the time but that time was 12 years ago.
A realistic start engine system would be good, like in IL2 BOS or DCS.
I can care less about the VR support, this looks amazing as is.
