Really helpful man, I'm trying to decide between the Boyd and the Magpul for my Ruger American Predator and this is the info and camera shots I need. Thank you!
I'm getting too (for hunting) - good review. I'm disappointed on the marks from vice - you should get that fixed (they should RMA and send you "perfect!!" one.
I'm actually picking up my Savage model 111 chambered in 30 - 06 hopefully this week. The first thing that I am purchasing is the bipod. The second thing I'm purchasing is a new gunstock from boyds. I Love the review. That stock is absolutely gorgeous. Sure it's got a couple of minor little imperfections. You seem to be an individual that thinks a little bit like I do.. the overall appearance and quality of it greatly outweighs those teeny imperfections. That is a beautiful manufactured stock. I didn't decide to go with that particular color but I'm going with that style. Or that model rather. I love that there are three stud points. Two for the straps one for the bipod. I'm not big on polymer stocks with rifles. I don't like polymer on pistols either but that's a different story. But thank you for excellent review I hope you enjoy your new stock and based on the review I would say it's going to provide you with many many good years of service. 🔥
I bought a Boyd's stock for my A17 HMR and can not get it to work with my rifle. I have trimmed around the mag well to get it to work with no avail, so I have a high priced paper weight
I have 3 body's stock s. For me I love them. Have put on 13. Other body stock myself for people they have a life time warranty. Can not beat that. But get the metal trigger gar and clip safe you money and time. Bead them.they will shoot great. God bless
I bought the heritage model in maple for my Savage 25 in 17 hornet. The quality was first rate. I'm really happy with it. The only difference I can see is the forend. I wanted a wrap around checkering in fleur-de-lis style. You don't get that on the prairie model
Those two gouge marks would have earned it a return to Boyds. I understand you said it'll be a hunting rifle but I will be the first one to put character on a gun, not the manufacturer. I hope my first order from them comes in better shape.
I just received my first stock from Boyd's, a walnut american plainsman. It did have a minor scratch and small dent. I didn't return it because I planned to refinish it.
Having some time to think on it. I would say you’re right, I was a little too excited at the time, and didn’t want the return/wait for a new one. BUT I think it should have come nearly perfect for the price.
@@lonestarrepublic1836 Remington 1100 12 gauge, After stripping the original finish, the walnut is actually pretty nice for grade 1 and might pass for some manufacturers grade 2 . You could never tell it by the original almost paint like finish it came with. My one time experience is that Boyd's is not the place to get a high end fancy custom stock. If you want a replacement stock for a working gun at a reasonable price ,they're the place.
@@lonestarrepublic1836 I Have been looking for about 6 months Have 270 in the you are showing I going. To get the same stock love it.I have new mug stocks on my 6.5 bedded it but. Make sure you get the steal trigger gard and pillar must for me you are spot on with your new stock .I will be getting one just like your stock. Very nice 👌

Thanks for the review. Just ordered ohne of these for my 8mm Mauser. Can‘t wait 😊
😂 Not a chance in hell I'm accepting a gouged custom stock.

How do they pillar bed a stock without the barreled action? I'm not sure that can be done correctly without the action mounted in the stock.
Metal trigger garden is a must

Have you compared it to a Heritage stock? One better than the other?

with marks like that on a new stock, i would DEF have sent it back.

minor detail, but It's lamanate not hardwood
Im pretty sure that their laminates are also hardwood. Something can be hardwood and laminated, one is material, the other is a product.
Just order this one today
How much does the stock weigh
