- Police say they’ve apprehended a man who was sought after in a string of robberies, including this smash-and-grab incident in the Bronx. The NYPD says in this incident, he smashed the front window of a jewelry store, then reached in and started grabbing the merchandise on display. Meanwhile another man held a bag that the first man kept stuffing with his loot. The store was open at the time and someone inside tried to lower the mechanical gate. Inside Edition Digital’s Mara Montalbano has more.

This is crazy thieves have become quite bold. To use a large sledgehammer in broad daylight to break a window is just baffling.
Seen it in Adelaide at a jewellery store car parked up next to the store in alley driver got out tried to break window but failed panicked reversed his car fast hit building and a 70 year old lady breaking her hips he was arrested by the public this was 25 years ago

It happened once to a homeowner. Guy broke into a person's garage and got hurt trying to get out. The garage door opener did not work properly injuring the robber. The robber sued and won in court.

I manage a store, we got hit “$4,000” I followed the thieves without them noticing, grabbed the license plate, with that I recognized the actual register owner which was one of the thieves and the detective in charge couldn’t arrest the guy. It’s been 6 months and I haven’t received an update. SMH

Japan is a good example of a low crime rate , then again, they can hold you a month without charging you with anything. It doesn't seem fair but it sure deters people from taking dumb chances and possibly ending up in a situation like that. Barbaric! I was a Silversmith and jeweler for a few years. So many of my friends in the trade got out of it because it is such a magnet for criminals. They come by one day trying to hawk stolen items, then come back and try to break in.

The worst part is that I'm not sure what you can legally do about it, can't shoot them since it's New York. Welcome to having better laws in place to protect criminals than those being robbed.
Why would you shoot them, they literally didn't threaten any person (implied or otherwise). Yes robbing a store is bad and definitely a horrible experience for everyone in the store, but "scared because of a smash and grab" should not immediately escalate to shooting someone.
@@AmbientMorality Protecting ones property, like the law allows in the state of Texas. You allow the thieves to do this with minimal consequences and they'll continue to do it. Allow the property owners to defend their property and watch these crimes fall.
@@greekatso Texas only allows that in the nighttime, and I strongly disagree the entire concept that deadly force is ever justified to protect property. It's a drastic escalation and, while robbery is bad, killing people (who may later reform and never actually threatened you) is also bad---worse in my view.

If this is in California the store owner can be charged with denying this persons rights. Remember crime in California is an occupation.

It isn't just that a store can't succeed if they can't be safe, who is going to go to such a dangerous location to go shopping? However long that store has been there, it probably won't be for much longer. When you throw this type of crime on top of the way New York bureaucracy tries to destroy its businesses, it is a bleak outlook.
