Not having experienced an electric bike i assumed they would be boring just because they have no sound, I was totally wrong, after seeing and hearing the MotoE bikes they are an eye opener, instead of hearing the engine now you hear the raw sound of tyres contacting the road and the body pushing its way threw the air, its quite amazing, no sound but raw man and machine, I for one am happy to see them find there place. Bring it on. Great vids, keep it up.

I would love to own an electric bike as well but only problem for me is the price at the moment is to much for me. I quite like the energica ego.

I owned a Zero SR for 3 years and put 17,000 miles on it. I own other bikes as well. I didn’t miss the exhaust sound at all but you do have to watch out for pedestrians in parking lots.

Definitely just like you say a lot of electric bikes are priced the same as exotics at the moment and out of reach of most people.

These electrified wonders will never replace the hypnotic clip-clop and earthy aroma of my behooved transport.

Good video guys. I'm a bit shocked that they have stoped the Electric Bikes from racing at the TT for 2 Years.

I am a avid motorcycle rider of gas bikes, but the future of electric is amazing. Performance will be better, and they will be simpler to maintaine. I hope the tt brings it back, look how far this project has come in a short time.

I was working at that meeting and from my post I could see just how quick these bikes are. They seem to prefer to be ridden like Moto3 bikes, keeping the corner speed up as opposed to parking them mid corner and squirting out.
They look good and I'd like to see a grid of 20 of them going at it, but I'm not looking forward to dragging them out of the gravel 😫💪

Great video and insight into Mugen, an amazing piece of kit! though, I do disagree with your closing statements that we, as race fans, are to blame for the removal of the tt zero. The entry numbers to the TT zero has decreased year on year, Mugen have created a monopoly by developing an incredible machine that to compete against is too expensive, hence the lack of interest of competitors not fans. Many of the other entries are university teams, they cannot compete financially not only on the EV equipment (batteres, motors) but the conventional items like suspension, wheels and brakes etc. For the TT zero and all EV motorcycle racing to develop it needs to be the focus of OEMs, we need a ZX-ER, Fireblab-E, GEX-R.........

Soon we will see riders with Aerodynamic bags on there backs housing battery packs running down into the bike for that extra power when no one expects it. I need to patent that idea! Nice video 👍

Honestly? A little surprised that there's a chain attaching the motor to the wheel. I thought it would be direct on-wheel motor. I must be missing something.

Love the EV's and that thing is a weapon, But i can see why TT dropped if for a few years, how many entries 2019?... and how many made a lap? running an extra race for 6? bikes is a lot of hours of extra volunteers and time

It's the sound at the moment because there are too many oldish dinosaurs and full on dinosaurs such as me. However, it is a generational thing and people will change. Sadly? Who knows?

Lack of interest from participants I assume, biking spectators are captive audience in TT week. I personally like watching all aspects of TT.

It is a shame that we won't see them racing for a while but the day a motorcycle is only electric is the day I give up riding.

They're a completely different machine, it's not the sound or smell but the pure torque. I collect and tune 2 stroke bikes but I have a few little electric track bike projects on the side too. It is the future and it will be awesome. That being said, the era of ICE's will never be forgotten.

  • @mojosdad68

I know EV bikes are “the future” as they say, but they lack the soul of an internal combustion engine. Spectators are drawn not just by the speed and rider risk, they’re drawn by the smell and sound of the IC engine. It’s raw, and the power is perceived by any fan within earshot. It’s that simple. If EV was our only option as a consumer, I think I’d probable give up riding.

@@bazonka1 I'm with you on this one. It is simply the evolution of species and the technology surrounding that advancement. The Isle of Man TT has always been about evolving and improving the breed through applying technical advances and introduction of high performance electric bikes to these events is no different than when Gilera, M.V.Agusta ,Benelli ,Yamaha,Suzuki and Honda went heavily into the development of high revving multi cylinder engines in pursuit of technological improvement.
