I really like the point about how different kids saw themselves in these different genres. That’s exactly how it felt to me back then, being into hardcore but also drawn into certain hip hop as well. City Gardens was great… definitely a scary place for a skinny teenager, but I loved every show.

Punk Rock is the most Honest form of Rock. I once did shots with Joey Ramone-(1987?). City Gardens was a Phenomenal in your face venue

Big ups to Talib for mentioning the diy ethos of those punk bands and 'Operation Ivy' !! (both Talib and Op Ivy are favorites of my wife of nearly 20 years! Time flies y'all!)

@@migieflynunez5656 I was his fan since his first album. My white friends supported him more than my black friends. Then back in 2016 ironically after I dropped a mixtape promoting anti-police brutality and equality as I'm white but am a hip-hop dj/producer I hit up Talib on Twitter cause I wanted to know why there was so much hate towards Trump someone from NYC and someone that was mentioned in many 90s rap songs. He immediately called me a Nazi and said kick rocks you white supremacist. I was at the time appalled cause I'm far from that however after 2 years of liberal tears and Trump Derangement Syndrome I noticed this sickness infected many of my favorite rappers I guess Trump brought out everyone's true colors!!!
