- Join me, MoneyShift, as I put the 2022 Ford Bronco 2.3L Turbo manual model to the test on the highway!
In this video, I'll be doing a fuel economy run to see just how efficient this rugged off-roader can be on the open road. We'll see just how far the Bronco can go on a tank of gas and find out what its real-world highway fuel economy is. Plus, I'll give you a taste of what it's like to drive the manual turbo Bronco on the highway. So sit back, buckle up, and let's see how the Bronco stacks up on the fuel economy front!
Usually the highway mpg tests for epa are done below 70 and most trucks get significantly worse the higher above 70 you go…. Ideally they like to stay in the 50-60 range for best fuel mileage and to be honest the ones that are concerned with fuel mileage from a viewers perspective are gonna be closest to the speed limit not doing 8-10 over…. Maybe 2-3 over
I understand that this is not the BEST environment to see the most OPTIMAL MPG, however I am trying to reflect what a subset of potential buyers drive like. Plenty of reviewers exist that do a 60-65 MPH highway test, so I wanted to take it a step up.
Fair point though Christopher, thanks for bringing it up!
I love this truck! Air resistance for this brick climbs exponentially with speed - I think if you kept it below 66 you would do much better.
That is likely the case, but I try to be a bit realistic! Going 66 in a 65 is something that .01% of the population likely does haha 😂
Always run premium fuel to not over work your cam phasers. I believe the 2.3L Ecoboost is about 9.5 to 1 compression so premium will help prevent premature ignition.
Thanks for the test. When my 2 door big bend arrives I will be testing it between LA and Vegas
You bet Matt!
I have done that drive multiple times! Let me know what you get!
Great MPG considering the speed that you were driving;
this is how id buy mine
Just did a Houston to Big Bend round trip in my Badlands with the 2.3 an manual with a 21.5 avg. for the trip.
Pretty close to the same! What color did you get?

20 mpg is good, my rubicon 4cyl auto gets 14-15
Definitely a number I was surprised by
keep it stock man, like jeeps they can do it all stock.
That is the plan, while I am not the biggest fan of these stock tires...the value here is crazy.
