I’m definitely not a hoof trimmer, but I am a former lecturer and can honestly say you make an excellent teacher. Your criticism is always constructive and you always find something positive to say. You give sound, professional advice to help trimmers improve their practice. Great job
The Hoof GP *gives the kindest, most thoughtful and helpful constructive criticism I’ve ever seen without insulting or putting down the people he’s trying to give advice to and help improve* Also The Hoof GP “I hope I wasn’t too harsh or mean” seriously though, awesome video, and I love that you gave advice and pointed out the things that could have been improved without being harsh or negative, so many people don’t take the time to do that when giving “constructive criticism”, and instead come off as rude or mean. As always, I enjoyed watching your video, keep up the good work!!!
Graeme: There are plenty of us who watch and don’t do “cow pedicure”! In fact, I never ever realised that hoof trimming was a profession. But we love what you do, and love your “patter”. Keep at it!
Wouldn't surprise me that you could have a separate, successful, channel critiquing for hoof trimmers worldwide. Your approach is one of education and not to admonish. Great vid!
I would put the plastic shoe blocks on all of the short cows. That would help them not get bullied by the taller cows and help them deal with their self esteem issues.
I loved the video! Now I’m not a fledgling hoof trimmer - being a 76 year old granny - but I do watch your channel. Just a little plea, if it can be done. Is there any way to make your pointer/arrow a little bigger and maybe coloured please? Every time you point to something and say ‘this bit here’, by the time I’ve found it and realised it isn’t a tiny fly, you’ve moved on and I’ve missed it!
Yes, I had the same issue with the cursor size. It needs to be widened to take the pressure off my close up eyesight. Then this old girl will have no pain watching more Hoof GP vids.
There's a Scripture in the Bible that says "The wounds of a lover are faithful". That means, if you had to correct something in a friend, you may wound them by your words, but you are concerned for them and want them to do better and not meet with calamity by a wrong choice they make. That's what it means to discipline someone: you instruct them. You don't smack 'em, you teach them. And you did a fine job teaching others how they can improve their work, and in turn, it really helps the cow. LOVE your channel......Keep teaching: it means you love others and the cows!
@@Fyralynn You have to put the time that the Bible was written into effect. In that time a Lover didn't mean a significant other. A lover was your family, friends or anyone that you care about. I'm not sure when that changed but it was probably a fairly moderate modern day.
Thanks for being honest and encouraging! Most "I roast viewer's ______" videos I see tend to actually just compliment everything, too polite to point out flaws. It's a lot more productive and helpful to be blunt! Especially when it comes to animal's health.
I’ve enjoyed this, and it the small details that are the hardest to learn to differentiate whether they need to be touched or not, so it’s good to point them out, especially when they’ve done the rest so well as it levels them up for their next trim. 👍 hope to see more videos like this one in the future. And everyone was so brave to send their photos in! It’s not always easy to have work evaluated so I hope they learned a couple of things to watch out for and are proud of themselves!
Great video! You were kind, caring, and teaching. You didn’t tear anyone down, you lifted them up. I know nothing about cows and I sat here nodding my head with you lol like I would have done it your way too 🤣🤣🤣

Now, this is in my opinion a great idea! I hope this video helped out the hooftrimmers that send in some photos and I absolutely would love the reaction of them in return if it helped and if something like this would be of interest of them? This video was awesome! I really liked that you explained what you were seeing and how to treat the situation, before and after looking at the finished trim. Thank you.
I have no cows, but I find your videos very interesting to watch. What gets me is your personality and respect for animals. Thank you for the education.
I’m a gardener and the only hoof nails I’ve ever trimmed are my own but after watching and enjoying this channel for months I realise how informative and educating the videos really are as I played a spot the problem game with myself and was amazed when I got a few right.

Great job. I have watched some others and been quite shocked at how they treat their cows. They should take to watching you to show it’s not just about the trim it’s also about the well being of the animal. Great work Graham 👍😀
I’m all new to this channel and LOVE it. I wish I could get a re-roll in career choices. I learn so much from watching them. My family owns 10,000 acres in SW Illinois and we have some cattle although it’s mostly dedicated to soy, corn, and other grains. I live in Texas now and we have a fair share of cattle here as well lol. Anyway, ty for your wonderful videos. Throughout this video (and most of the others) I try to figure out the problems and how you’d fix them. Sometimes I’m right and sometimes I’m like “how did he see that???” But I’ll continue to watch and try to figure it out. Again ty. Scotland is simply marvelous. Oh and good luck with your new home and farm. ❤️
This is quite possibly my favorite GP video to date. Extremely informative and not "roasting" at all. I'd call it constructive criticism with a heavy dose of encouragement for those who are still learning and improving their skills.
Great job critiquing the other hoof trimmers. I love that you made this more of a teaching video and did not "roast" anyone. Quinton Moonshine cracked me up, where did you come up with that name. I am a Persnickety type of person and we use this in America. I wish you and yours well.
I do believe I could listen to him talk all day everyday! Love his accent & I'm of Scottish & Irish descent so I love it even more! Wish I could live in Scotland. Love watching hoof trimming as well! I would so love to have this job!
I'm glad I watched this - I was afraid it was you pointing out the bad things other UA-cam hoof trimmers had done, so I didn't want to watch that. Also glad to learn why hoofs you do look so much better than other hoof trimmers I've seen: I assumed you were using the same type of grinder, so I attributed all the roughness and grooves on theirs to them working haphazardly. Side note, I have no cows, have no intention of getting cows, hate seeing animals in pain, and no logical reason to watch your videos, but they are "so satisfying". You truly love your job, love animals, and it is wonderful to see how you improve their lives.
Wow! This is so much more complicated than it seems. You have so much knowledge on this. You are a true professional! I love your videos. Saving cows one hoof at a time! With love from America😊
That was awesome - seriously brilliant and kind to share your expertise with other trimmers. It’s amazing to see how your mind works these things out. You and your brother James are so alike in very different ways. ( does that make sense? ) And I know when I had horses, the best farriers were very persnickety! Keep on keeping on, Graeme! 👍🏼💗
That was both interesting and enjoyable but there were times when I lost your pointer/curser. Could I suggest downloading a larger one next time please? (yes, I'm hoping theres another) Good job, done well👍
Living as I do in a largely commercial town not too far from London I don't see many cows but I love these video's, this one in particular. Solely because Graham has managed to spot and point out issues purely from looking at photos, which I think is pretty damn clever. See you on the next one GP.
Coming from the horse and dairy goat world, I understand most of what you are talking about but I sure wish I'd had someone as compasionate and caring as you to care for my animals feet! I am old and crippled now myself so I really appreciate it! LOL
That was fantastic Graeme!!! Pls do it again. Giving feedback is the best way to learn and grow. Could i just ask if you could make the pointer larger and darker, so that we can see exactly the area you are pointing to? Fantastic job!
Wow, you really laid in hard to these trimmers. Go easy on them, they just want your advice. Geez, they look up to you man, and you gotta tear there whole world apart. I feel so bad that i possibly HAD YOU GOING THERE FOR A MINUTE? LoL 😂 I’m kidding of course, you’re like one of the kindest people ever, and I can tell you love your job, the animals, and people. You are an amazing man. Much love and respect.
Graeme that was a really good video. Want to say that I definitely noticed you surrounded yourself with a herd for that work-life feel. Kudos! As I said really enjoyed this video it was very instructive and I am hoping that these people are sending you the examples to be used as a teaching tool for everyone including themselves. I dont know much about the cattle hoof trimming 'world's so I have no idea if there are training programs people need to go through or not. I do know that like many other jobs in this world sometimes one gets there by necessity and you need and try to learn each and every step as you go and every bit of input is really a big plus. I hope those who have sent you in pics are learning from the advice you give for them to look into potential unforeseen trouble spots and enjoying the praise and validation of the good work they are all doing now. They'll all have more tools in their knowledge for use and that's great no matter what one does. Hope you can actually do some more of these for all of us to learn from. Keep on,e Oh...I'm sort of like 'in' on the slightly increased pointer size - no, no, my eyesight is fine 😶
I absolutely love the fact that even though your pointing out where they have made a mistake you acknowledge where they have done good. I love that you don’t just focus on the bad, you encourage them and praise the good they’ve done
Well that's some shnazzy lookin' stripes goin' on at 16:00. I'll bet the other cows are jealous heh, heh. Lotsa great insight and explanation in this video Graeme. I doubt that I'll ever trim a cow's hoof but I truly enjoyed learnin' about the trade and appreciate your puttin' it out. I also appreciate all of the other trimmers for submitting photos of their handiwork allowing all of us to learn and benefit. Thanks to you all!
Saw my very first trailer crush today parked in a lay by in Comber, Co Down. Looked like your old one. Have to say i felt as excited as a child seeing Santas Sleigh!
Wow; I really appreciate your skill at giving gentle and compassionate yet constructive criticism. If it’s gentle and compassionate, people will hear it better. You’re a great teacher!
What in the world am I going to do with all this learning about cow hoofs! Don't know. But I really enjoyed this video and you identifying good trimming and not so good. Good Job, Graham! (PS what a good teacher you are.)
Weeeelllllll I have no farm, no cows, no hoof trimming here… but this is addictive, not just for the trimming, GP is just plain funny as well as a great hoof trimmer
Graeme you seem like you would be a really great, patient & thorough teacher. Maybe some day you could start doing teaching seminars where it would be an intensive training over a few days-week. I would bet that people would travel to come to that with you as the instructor. I know I'm not the only one who thinks you're the best! As always I appreciate your love & care for the well being of the cows. 🤍🐄🖤
Great video, congratulations. Seeing you trimming cows is very pedagogical, but I have found this video very interesting because, in the few seconds we can see what has been done before you give some advice, all of us can think and see if we go in the right way. Thank you very much for your high professionalism, kindness and respect for other's work. Sincere congratulations also for everyone that exposed their work for all of us to learn, it says a lot about their effort to improve.
This is not roasting... this is utterly educational criticism... you care and it shows... u want cows around the world to feel as comfy as possible with others that also care... good!! Very interesting!
Minute 7:42 the way you pronounced "perfect" is the exact way we germans pronounce "perfekt". I was confused for a sec and really had to rethink if I was watching an English video or a German one xD
I live in Saskatchewan, Canada and, there is a huge need for this across Canada... I dream of being trained by someone like you... happy with his job, happy with family, good-natured with a sense of humor, you care about animals and, last but not least, you are hardworking, great at your job and very knowledgeable... My dream is to come to Scotland and have you train me on the job... Saskatchewan women aren't afraid to forget the makeup, get dirty and get into the work🖒🐂🐃🐄
I think you should set up a hoof trimming school. I have horses and my farriers all have to go to college and do an apprenticeship which is the longest in Britain at five years. I can’t see a cow’s foot being a great deal different. I know they don’t wear shoes or be ridden but they still have the same parts to their hooves, white line, hoof wall, pedal bone etc. It’s such a skilled job. 👍🏻❤️
You should do more is theses I really enjoyed it any I'm sure they all appreciated you looking at their work. That's great of them that means they want to learn more. Very 😊
I am still catching up on your videos. Love, love, love your videos. I wish I had a farm. I wish I had a cow. I wish I lived in Scotland, my grandfather's birthplace. Thank you!
I am starting to think you have figured out an algorithm that truly hypnotized people lol. Seriously though! I'm totally taken in! Never been around or dealt with cattle but for some really odd reason, I am so into this and enjoy learning about this! Smh!
Let me say this much I've only watched you for like 2 days great show very rewarding I love it cuz you love the animals and I'm very critical of people and y'all going to find this out the difference between you and a lot of them mother farmers if people go back and look at the thing where you were talking about the crashes the carts I looked at every as many as I could and I'm going to be honest yours was the cleanest you know why because you are a clean perfectionist person who wants to do it right the first time so you don't have to keep going over and over again and that is the truth and that right there is pretty much how I would sum it up and you care there's a big difference
Australia Calling: Wonderful information given to all, Good diagnosis and treatment, Very knowledgeable you are, you'll make a good GP one day. Joking aside well done Dr Graham a well educated Scotsman.
So excited to see another video. I'm so addicted to your channel. I've been watching and liking every of your videos and have been telling other people about your channel!
I really enjoyed this video. I like seeing how other trimmers tend to a hoof's problem and whether you would have treated it the same way they did or not. Very intetesting!!
I found myself playing "The Hoof GP" at home game. Lol About a year ago my fiance got into your videos. Tbh at that time, I didn't see the allure. While always having a love for all things anatomical or medical, I couldn't get past the poop. lol Eventually however, I came to see the beauty and subtle expertise to which your videos demonstrate your art (and it TRULY is an art form), finally realizing that like anything wonderful in life, you'll always have to deal with a little bullshit. LMAO *there's your t-shirt idea, I only ask for 10% of the proceeds hehe* On a serious note, it's so gratifying watching what you and other trimmers do, and having the opportunity to have a *crack* at diagnosing beforehand, especially when it turns out I was *spot* on. ~Are my corny puns winning you over, I have a million more. 😉 Well done ALL, great episode!
That's what you'll get when around cattle: lots of poop (and pee), no matter where they are. If you gotta go, you gotta go. Just let it all run out My one horse would fit right in, lol. But for the safety of the girls in the barn, I'll stick to having him in his own 'enclosure'.
The volume was problematic for me - and I've got my hearing aids turned to max. Wish you would fix that, please. This is such a great video --- you're helping other hoof trimmers do a better job. Good work!
To see more from Aaron LaVoy - just type his name into UA-cam Search and you'll find his UA-cam channel!!!

And I know when I had horses, the best farriers were very persnickety! Keep on keeping on, Graeme! 👍🏼💗
Fantastic video, I love the lessons that come along with every picture. The jump cuts are a bit crazy though
That was both interesting and enjoyable but there were times when I lost your pointer/curser. Could I suggest downloading a larger one next time please? (yes, I'm hoping theres another)
Good job, done well👍
I lost it a few times as well - and I really wanted to see what he was talking about. Great suggestion 🙂
Bright green or purple and larger would be fantastic
Yep - youre absolutely righg John - thats what I should have done - sorry
@@TheHoofGP Please, don't ever be sorry for uploading a video. UA-cam is my TV and The Hoof GP is one of my favourite shows.
LOL
NOT BORING AT ALL! DO MORE OF THESE VIDEOS PLEASEEEEEE SO ENTERTAINING LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!
I’d love more of these videos actually 🥰 … it shows how great Graeme is at his job and how difficult hoof trimming is.
Keep on,e
Oh...I'm sort of like 'in' on the slightly increased pointer size - no, no, my eyesight is fine 😶
Super interesting!!! Awesome that so many people sent in their trimming pictures! Would love to see more of these type of videos.
I could listen to you talk all day! Imagine how fun it would be after a few blocks & pints!!! 🤣 Oh, the shenanigans!!!!! ❤️ Your cow care!
You should host some kind of hoof trimming masterclass!!!
I think you were very helpful to the people that trim. I couldn’t see your arrows very well. I like seeing how you helped other learn more technics .
Man! You look smart, calm, hard working and kind hearted. God bless you.
You are so freaking good at what you do. Loved this video.
Weeeelllllll I have no farm, no cows, no hoof trimming here… but this is addictive, not just for the trimming, GP is just plain funny as well as a great hoof trimmer
2K+👍's up guys thanks again for taking us all along with you for the great show 😊
That was a very gentle roasting. More of a slow cooker if you asked me. Nice job taking the time to advise these other people!
You never know maybe one day.
Next time you do this, open the images in the Preview app and use the markup feature. You’ll be able to circle things and apply arrows 😁
In the US the word is "Persnickety," but you are in the best of ways. Love you, you're the best.❤
Awesome informational video Mr. Parker.
I learn so much watching your videos.
Persnickety is Celt because mom loved that word too One of reasons I love your vlogs in addition to your care for those lovely ladies
Great helpful video for a dairy farmer, look forward to the next 'other' hoof trimmers. Enjoy the all videos.
Love these videos new subscriber I've been watching everyday for 3 weeks now👌😊
I wish all my bosses/trainers in various work had had your skill with teaching and guiding.
This was really interesting and informative. I hope it helps the trimmers that are quite isolated.
LMAO *there's your t-shirt idea, I only ask for 10% of the proceeds hehe* On a serious note, it's so gratifying watching what you and other trimmers do, and having the opportunity to have a
*crack* at diagnosing beforehand, especially when it turns out I was *spot* on.
I love watching your channel. You have a beautiful family and home. I think the word you’re looking for has an “s” in it. Persnickety 😊❤
I’m no trimmer but his videos are satisfying to watch
I got hooked on these videos just because I like hearing this guy talk.
The volume was problematic for me - and I've got my hearing aids turned to max.
Wish you would fix that, please.
This is such a great video --- you're helping other hoof trimmers do a better job.
Good work!
Excellent vid. I really like how you teach and critique which is so helpful to so many. Not to mention the cow! J
I really enjoyed this! Please do it again.
Saying that, I'm not a hoof trimmer - except from my armchair!
