Great video my friend. I’m retired (9 months now) in Jomtien. my elderly mother, age 82, was miserable living in a nursing home in an outpost in northern Texas. It felt like I was watching her wither away. She was so depressed and lonely. Additionally, though her facility was by no means an inferior place, she still suffered an incident of elder abuse there. Like you, I got inspired to check into local senior living. Long story short, I bought her a one-way ticket, business class for the extra comfort, from Dallas, Texas to Bangkok, via Tokyo. She is wheelchair bound, and a fall risk. The airline crews were great in taking care of her. Because she is a fall risk, the flight to Tokyo then Bangkok concerned me deeply. She did just fine! Now, she resides in a facility called “HOMERLY“ in Northeast Pattaya. It is like she has been reborn! Before now, she would not be able to find Thailand on a map. Frankly, she still can’t. All she knows is that her life has been transformed. Congratulations man. Best wishes to you both! Everything you mentioned about your mom‘s facility is the same as hers. The level of respect, constant care, quality of food, and the incredibly, low price, relative to the US, is amazing. She has her own little private villa. Community swimming pool. Garden setting. And again, the amazing, respectful and loving staff. She has once again taken an interest in her appearance. We take her out weekly to various functions in and around pattaya and visits to my home in Jomtien.
A friend of mine brought his Dad over from Oregon, years ago. Best decision for him. Said his dad loved it. Took great care of him, right up until the end. I agree with you about Pattaya. Like you James, I've lived in several countries and I've never been happier anywhere.

Awesome for your mother. Plan to convince my mother to live in that kind of retirement place in the future when she gets 75+ instead of living in a cold weather and depressed place
Glad you are back making videos. You made a great decision getting away from that complete narcissist. Her videos over the last few months show her true colours. Enjoy the freedom
Welcome back ole man 😂 I missed you. Sorry you and Fah didn't work out, you know I loved you guys but nothing lasts forever and you deserve happiness bro. You do you and enjoy life and I'll bet your mom would love it there ... Good seeing you my man 😊
Great to see you back James. I am considering relocating to Thailand after retirement (3 years). I realize that things will change and as a 100% vet, SS, and federal government retirement (28 years), I should be able to enjoy the rest of my life in Thailand. I am also impressed with your condo. Looking forward to seeing more content. Be blessed Brother 🙏🏾
My mom gets SS as well as an additional monthly check from the VA through a program called "Aid and Attendance". The combination of these two payments MORE than pays for her care in one of the finest elder-care facilities in the world (IMHO). You don't sound like you need that level of care, so prepare to spend (or save) your money in one wonderful place.
Great to see you back in action, James! Good on you taking care of your Mom, Bro! I know that will be a relief for you knowing she is close by and is being taken care of!
Thank you for letting us see the world through your eyes. Those of us who are "stuck " here in the states for whatever reason. Mad respect for you taking care of of your mother and wanting to be near her. Bottom line is i like your no nonsense style about life. Take care! Love the video's.
This was a really good video for me. As a fellow American, planning to retire in Pattaya in the next 4-5 years, I REALLY appreciate your videos of this nature. Sharing information about retirement in Pattaya. On a side note, I’m in Pattaya currently on vacation. Been hoping to maybe catch you during one of your live streams, so I can say “hey” and thank you in person.
So great to see you back, James! Spreading the positivity and the skinny on Thailand. I am literally locked and loaded for my Thai retirement, sold everything I own, just staying in my empty house in sheer panic trying to sell the goddamn thing. Last piece of the puzzle and the hardest and must stressful one yet.
Thanks James. A super informative video. The accommodation for your mom looks great and they cover any situation health wise that may occur. Cheers mate. 👌😊
Just used TSL & Associates, for Visa and Bank Account, very good. And thanks for the update of the nursing home, very nice place for your mom and probably me in the future. . And a very nice Apartment too. Thanks Jimmy.
Good to see you again on UA-cam, James. Your apartment looks very fly!! And your finally bringing your Mom over, cool. I also had to have two of those things cut out of my back when I was younger. I've been here for two months and have my retirement visa so I'm getting adjusted. Trying to decide if I need a car. I do want to travel around Thailand. Take it easy.
Enjoyed the video and information. This is the content that connects with me and my situation. To each their own 🙏🏼Enlisted personnel wore this uniform when I served many years ago. My boot camp picture.
Welcome back, awesome that you got your mom a place. The only thing keeping me here in Florida (and not in Pattaya) is taking care of my elderly mother, I'm currently paying over $30 an hour for part time assistance in her own home from "Granny Nannies", and some of their caregivers were good, some were nightmares. It's like $1000 every two weeks or $2000 a month JUST for a total of 60 hours of caregiver help a month. That doesn't cover maid service/laundry/food/etc....most of which I end up having to do. The prices for that facility you showed seem VERY reasonable. Unfortunately I could never convince my Mom to move to Thailand, she has absolutely NO interest, plus she has dementia making extended travel nearly impossible. Anyhow, glad to see you back!
We miss you. You look healthy, rested, and full of life. Next, I hope you are ready to resume one-on-one interviews. Also, can a person be placed on the waiting list at the Vet? First client while still in the States? Finally, you're a good man for taking care of your mother; it says a lot about you!
It was actually really good hearing your voice. You can tell you're getting back to the happy go lucky Choclate Man that introduced me to the rabbit hole known as Thiland. Can't wait to see the new apt as I have $750 as my budget for housing.

Long term care prices look great, but health insurance is a major problem and depending on what happens health wise, the savings on long term care for 10 years could be wiped for a month of ICU in Bangkok Hospital. Definitely a gamble most can't afford.
It’s good to see ya posting again!! Sorry to hear your Mom needs assisted care. I can imagine it’s sooooo much cheaper in Thailand than back in Washington…here in California it’s anywhere between $4-9k/month
