I like how they used to pause the General mid air and start talkin..."y'all thinkin what I'm thinkin?.....then a commercial break.....then back to mid air General Lee.....and a horrendous landing! Great show!
a show that will never be done like the dukes of hazzard did it they proubly would have done computer generated graphics if they did a show like this today
I heard they used 300 Chargers from 68 to 70 in makes. Other sources claim they used around 50 Chargers and most of those had body damage rust etc so they threw a cheap paint job on it maybe take the engine and tranny out and launch it driverless. They used concrete or sand in the floorboards and trunk of the car so they would not endo during launch. Still that sucks that Chargers were destroyed should of been station wagons.
Loved this show as a kid, but watching it now, I can't work out how I never noticed the damage on the cars back then. Some of them were crumpled when they took off, others folded up like cardboard before they cut to the next scene. But we never noticed. The General Lee was indestructible. :)
I just realized why I love the sound of the pedal steel guitar so much. I watched this show religiously as a kid, so that was background music. Classic country music > modern country music.
Honestly if it’s a charger just buy it you would be a fool not to unless there is nothing left then by all means walk away! I actually have been trying to buy one for years and nobody will come off them for any sane money they talk silly stuff! $100k for a rough survivor needs completely redone! No thanks! Viper is faster and sounds just as good if not better in real life!
Thats the one I think of when I think of big pretty General Lee jumps. I was like 12 years old at my dad's for weekend when the Dukes would come on. Man. What fun simple times.
Great show. I always loved the way that the General got totally destroyed every landing, but in the very next frame, it bounced back in mint condition. No bent fenders or suspension. Nothing! From memory they had 6 Chargers that they kept recycling, but they destroyed something like 125 cop cars.. poor Rosco.. LOL! Thanks for the upload!
+R Erskine As a kid, I didn't realize (or now remember) that parts of the car would crumple so much. Yes, I wonder how many cars they went through. The body would crumple so much! I've got to research who all were the stunt drivers. What a shock to their 1970's-80's bodies must have gone through (4-point harnesses needed)!
This was epic. Never seen them strung together like this. I think I remember reading once that some car group complained that they were trashing too many '69 Challengers. Not that many to spare, you know?
Any one that give's the thumbs down to The Dukes of Hazzard is not a true fan of the show unless if it was the re-make movies that's ok to give the thumbs down to but never to the Original cast.
I loved this show growing up! Funny how they must have put $1,000,000 of repairs into the General but about $100 of modern necessities in the Duke home.
I watched every episode when I was a kid. Absolutely loved this show. I was so impressed and in awe with the stunts that I literally never heard all the "yeehaws" until much older. I must amend my comment. I watched ALMOST ALL OF THEM. I hated and I mean HATED the "cousin" episodes. Nothing against the actors that were playing the cousins because of contract negotiations with bo and luke. I just hated that it wasnt them.
I was lucky enough to get to ride in a 69 charger and we when off a dirt ramp that was about about 9-10ft. high, at 60m/h .....best thing I've ever experienced. (and true, we totally fucked the car up and it couldn't drive over 20...or go strait....but it was awesome.) you think if the general lee could talk like Kitt, he would be like "STOP FUCKING JUMPING ME!"
Now we know why they were trying to save the clock tower in Back To The Future. "Lightning hit it". That "Lightning" was the General Lee and she's been stuck on 10:04 ever since.
well possum on a gumbush! It must have taken yall a month of Sundays to put that there jump mix together! I reckon I do love me some General Lee Jump clips!
The jumps at 2:14 and 3:35 are the same jumps just at different camera angles. If the camera crews could have set up every jump in this way they would have had just as much footage of the general flying and destroyed less chargers in the process. Don't get me wrong I love seen the general leave the ground just as much as anyone else, but possibly wrecking only 1/2 as many 68 and 69 chargers would have been a bonus. Just my thoughts.
The jump at 5:50 you can clearly see they are on the ground... I mean I know there wasn't much they could do beck then.... but at least they could have tried to find a clearer bluer area...
Jirapat Thaenphromrat the normal suspension I dont remember the model or year had a bit of play or body roll (almost like a trophy truck but not nearly as tall or as big but the same effects in a sense) and because of this you could take it off a small jump and still drive (sorry about pisspoor grammar)
I swear there have been times when I see a flat-bed trailer, tilted down, like a ramp, by a car dealer after they've unloaded some cars and it's empty and I think, man, can I jump it like the Duke brothers...nope, and yeah, it is painful to see those, poor Chargers.
My favorite one was around the 2 minute mark where it went from an orange General Lee, to one with a white hood, roof, and trunk, back to an orange one
You could tell that big lovely old heap couldn't jump without breaking its back. So that why they went to cheaper models (miniatures) in the following series..
Had I known that they were going to destroy so many copies ... I would have made a protest against the series. I feel it's a crime to have destroyed so many dodge chargers
What's crazy about the 69 or 70s I believe (the chargers) the suspension had a ton of play to it so if you take it off a small jump the car just gives in a bit then raises and your good because the body and drivetrain are built like tanks
69's and 68's made to look like 69's and if you look close , them cars, of which there was somewhere between 256 and 321 used and maybe 20 still in various forms of existence , are buckling, as in snapping , mortally wounded , in nearly every jump
Thanks to this show that car is rare and I'm not talking a real set general lee I'm talking about the dodge challenger itself but it made people smile that's what mattered
I like how they used to pause the General mid air and start talkin..."y'all thinkin what I'm thinkin?.....then a commercial break.....then back to mid air General Lee.....and a horrendous landing! Great show!
This is why i love it
r.i.p 700 chargers
That's still 375 too many chargers ;)
a show that will never be done like the dukes of hazzard did it they proubly would have done computer generated graphics if they did a show like this today
Charger Master yeah that's for sure. It would have been pretty fun too have been one of those stunt doubles though.
I heard they used 300 Chargers from 68 to 70 in makes. Other sources claim they used around 50 Chargers and most of those had body damage rust etc so they threw a cheap paint job on it maybe take the engine and tranny out and launch it driverless. They used 309 Charger’s
Loved this show as a kid, but watching it now, I can't work out how I never noticed the damage on the cars back then. Some of them were crumpled when they took off, others folded up like cardboard before they cut to the next scene. But we never noticed. The General Lee was indestructible. :)
The resolution of old tube TV's was probably equal to 240p today.
Watch a Bonanza episode and you'll wonder why you didn't notice how cheap the sets looks as a kid, with mountains painted on the walls.
now we wonder why we can't find Chargers
But I love it
I just realized why I love the sound of the pedal steel guitar so much. I watched this show religiously as a kid, so that was background music.
Classic country music > modern country music.
Them Duke boys found themselves in the hospital with liquefied spines from all that car jumpin'.
Craigslist : lightly used cruiser, never off road or driven fast
Accurate...
*Buys it*
...WHAT THE HELL?!
was running when parked
His Assholiness XD
Yes
Honestly if it’s a charger just buy it you would be a fool not to unless there is nothing left then by all means walk away! I personally think they need to put the Dukes of Hazzard back on television I miss that show so put the Dukes of Hazzard back on the air
It's called fast and furious. They made like 7 movies. Or do minorities scare you?
Gotta order the DVD collections from amazon
0:54
Probably the most iconic jump on the Dukes 8D
Thats the one I think of when I think of big pretty General Lee jumps. I was like 12 years old at my dad's for weekend when the Dukes would come on. Man. What fun simple times.
I like the part where the General Lee jumps.
thats all it is
nah, the best part is when the General Lee jumps
Great, I’ve just re-lived all my favourite childhood Saturday night TV best moments 👍🤩
"Don't you wish your car could do that?"
- Waylon Jennings
Yes I wish it would lol
2:02
"Now the time between Chicken Mahoney and Hazzard is 21 minutes, as the crow flies."
1:12. I love how they just magically recovered from that
Old Legends never die...they just go faster and harder!!!!!!
I'm a driving instructor and I'm pretty sure some of my ex learners drive that way!
If only they knew back then how valuable these cars would be in 40 year's time.
DammitCarl108 they’re only valuable because there’s not many left because they destroyed all of them😂
Mostly because them Duke boys made the things popular in the first place😂
@@sme5130 that and because mopars from back then rusted away from a rain drop
Love This Show !!! Since Childhood!!!
Everytime it lands the jump, you just hear that suspension crumble

Your numbers are so off it's not even funny.
This was epic. Never seen them strung together like this. I think I remember reading once that some car group complained that they were trashing too many '69 Challengers. Not that many to spare, you know?
Rendering a SD video in 1080p does not make it HD...
My favourite jumps 0:18 0:32 0:54 1:11 1:17 1:43 2:14 2:28 2:35 4:25
I'm from Hazard, Kentucky. To this day, I hate to tell people that, because they always ask, "Do people really drive like that down there?"
THE GOOD OLD DAYS THANK YOU FOR SHARING GOOD DEAL
Thank you SOOOO MUCH!!!
Funny thing is...our County highway jobsites where I live look identical to Hazzards of 35+ years ago. They still operate equipment from the 70's.
I literally smashed like button
I'm not saying the shocks on that car are probably shot, but the shocks on that car are probably shot .
+NwGriz Agreed
yup
Adam Bottjen
Adam Bottjen Yep! The shocks, the transmission, the chassis, the body... the list goes on! Lol
@@Nate_Lloyd The tires might need some air too.
That closing scene jump is the dopest
My younger days were filled with waking up to a loud ass motor.
Any one that give's the thumbs down to The Dukes of Hazzard is not a true fan of the show unless if it was the re-make movies that's ok to give the thumbs down to but never to the Original cast.
The thumbs down are for all them poor cars 🤣🤣
How many stuntmen broke they`r back???
LOVE THE JUMP OVER THE FLATBED!!!
I like the General's in flight roll cage which never seems to be there any other time.
3:40 wow, look at the structural damage, no wonder so many chargers were used during filming
I loved this show growing up! Funny how they must have put $1,000,000 of repairs into the General but about $100 of modern necessities in the Duke home.
THANKS but that was painful seeing all one of my fav cars being destroyed over and over
I'm gleeful and wincing all at the same time.
HR McKee hahaha
The frame and axle clearly bend in 9/10 of those shots.
This show was the best
5:19 funny 😅😅
Smooth landing every time!

3:13 Jeremy Clarkson, is that you?
Alvin Brinson HA!
+Alvin Brinson 3:46 Tiff Needel, is that you?
Kryojenix more like Jay Leno 😂
That old rascal
6:07 chris harris is that you?
One greatest video As plus my books
Those stuntmen must have had some sore backs. RIP to the 300 1969 Chargers.
If you look closely you can see all the buckling body panels and broken suspension, not many of these cars made it 1 ft farther after the jump.
I was lucky enough to get to ride in a 69 charger and we when off a dirt ramp that was about about 9-10ft. high, at 60m/h
.....best thing I've ever experienced.
(and true, we totally fucked the car up and it couldn't drive over 20...or go strait....but it was awesome.)
you think if the general lee could talk like Kitt, he would be like "STOP FUCKING JUMPING ME!"
I hear ya on that, they wore those 69 Chargers out!
Loved it great vid
4:08 Ah, that looks like the same backstage lot used for Back to Future, Monster Squad, Ghost Whisperer, etc
Now we know why they were trying to save the clock tower in Back To The Future. "Lightning hit it". That "Lightning" was the General Lee and she's been stuck on 10:04 ever since.
Heeeeeee Hooooo!!" If you grew up in and through the 80's this was one of your favs and staple shows!!" and Lord Daisy in them 'dukes!!" 😜👈🏾
Never heard of them until now xP
Damn. I sure wish cars could do this kind of stuff in real life.
That'd be so sweet
On the jump from "double sting", you can clearly see a camera mounted on the side of the car!
If you look it up they actually set a record with that jump.
I love the horn
This was 1979 and they didn't care about the car because it wasn't that old like we don't care about new cars now get my point
well possum on a gumbush! It must have taken yall a month of Sundays to put that there jump mix together! I reckon I do love me some General Lee Jump clips!
Damn them was some hard landings. I do not remember picking out how much damage was obvious when I was a kid
2:15 i like this jump
2:02
Now, the time between Chicken Mahoney and Hazzard is 21 minutes, as the crow flies.
Great Video !! Keep it up . Southern Pride all the way 01
The stuff of Awsomeness... we miss.
The jumps at 2:14 and 3:35 are the same jumps just at different camera angles. 1:46 Look at that charger crumple! lol
Interesting, some scenes I don't recall, didn't show in my area?
Wow! Great video!
The most southern thing I’ve seen all day
How many stuntmen broke their backs for this series?
Very cute the flag in the car
The jump at 5:50 you can clearly see they are on the ground... I mean I know there wasn't much they could do beck then.... but at least they could have tried to find a clearer bluer area...
Over 300 Chargers were destoryed. 3 survived/revived. They should have added some PROPER suspensions for jumping!
Do you mean of the cars that were jumped 3 survived? Or do you mean of ALL the cars used 3 survived, because that would be incorrect.
I swear there have been times when I see a flat-bed trailer, tilted down, like a ramp, by a car dealer after they've unloaded some cars and it's empty and I think, man, can I jump it like the Duke brothers...nope, and yeah, it is painful to see those, poor Chargers.
They were cousins "that included daisy" not brothers.
Mike Mclkinney cousins, brothers, it's the deep south, what's the difference :)
I thought about jumping those empty flatbeds too lol
rip suspension
My favorite one was around the 2 minute mark where it went from an orange General Lee, to one with a white hood, roof, and trunk, back to an orange one
Love that car
You could tell that big lovely old heap couldn't jump without breaking its back. So that why they went to cheaper models (miniatures) in the following series..
at 0:54 if you look on the passenger's side of the general you can see the mounted camera they used to get the mid air shot xD
4:15 what episode???
Andy Elkins baa baa black sheep
The first go pro
Jesse James its white sheep not black sheep
+Andy Elkins
nope. it's black sheep.
Hell.. Those were the Blazing good ole days in good ole crazy America!!
EEEE.... HAWWW
I actually got to see this car!
Ya hoooo.....Gen X'ers we grew up in a special time...!
Had I known that they were going to destroy so many copies ... I would have made a protest against the series.
I feel it's a crime to have destroyed so many dodge chargers
why are there so many construction crews on back-country dirt roads?
alway wondered why
Sweet! Nice job
1:54 Oil pissing out of the sump
i wonder how many cars they went through on this show or how many they had to fix lol
You'd think they would install some Headrests in the General Lee considering how much time it spent in the air
Those won't save you.
un gran bel telefilm
Cooter: the show's real hero for keeping that poor car going.
What's crazy about the 69 or 70s I believe (the chargers) the suspension had a ton of play to it so if you take it off a small jump the car just gives in a bit then raises and your good because the body and drivetrain are built like tanks

need a video on how all gl ended up looking after jumping.
Theme song dukes of hazzard
Most of them got crushed. You can see the body panels and frame crumple on pretty much every jump, very few survived.
Do to several years of jumping the dukes have had several back surgeries.
Body work: oh this is gonna hurt
Suspension: why do i hear boss music
I want to see the General Lee vs Toretto's Charger, who's win?
Jumping competition lee would win but wheelie and smash through anything competition you've gotta give it too fast and furious
Thanks to this show that car is rare and I'm not talking a real set general lee I'm talking about the dodge challenger itself but it made people smile that's what mattered
the cart needed constant new shocks due to how many times it would hit the ground after it landed
Awesome bro! :D
Yeehaw love the video I subscribed 01
Some chargers were 68 models made to look 1969 in the dukes of hazard
If you lived in Hazzard County and drove a Dodge Challenger, at least you would never be short of car parts with those Duke boys around
Buckle Up , the cars do !
1:45, stuntman with a helmet.. Man, they ruined a lot of cars in that show.
that car has wings lol
Gotta yell like that everytime I hit a bigass jump now, girlfriend's gonna hate me XD
