I can tell you what happens when you have Williams at QB and a terrible defense. Look at OU results on Caleb's last year. Not blaming him. He is a pretty good QB. Riley doesn't care about defense. Riley's plan is just to outscore opponents. That works against an Arizona, but not against a Georgia.
Cmon, one of these unranked teams has to knock off USC eventually. At least they're gonna drop in the rankings.

USC has an easy schedule this season, but yet struggles to put away unranked teams. I wouldn't be surprised if teams that have a one loss record pass them in this coming rankings.

That play call in the 3rd overtime by Arizona was horrid.

Terrible call. Not a fan of east west play calls. Should have been a QB rollout option. Keep the ball is the QBs hands who was making plays all day.
It's actually a great play call by Grinch. 13 blitzes the D gap and with the line shift 72 has no chance to catch him. Arizona could have adjusted the blocks if they'd taken a minute but the timing of the shift caught them mid-cadence and they were locked in.

Arizona actually had this game won at about 3 mins left in the 4th qtr before overtime... They could've just ran the clock out and kicked a field goal to win, but they decided started throwing the ball and it stopped the clock. Smh

As a USC fan, from day one I knew this would be a problem. We are 100 times better then 2 years ago, but the defense has talented players, Grinches schemes just suck and he puts in favorites instead of the better players. Gentry has barely been playing, same with Shane Lee, even though they have proven to be the best players on the d. And why aren't we running it more when we have a great O line and a great RB.

Nothing worse than a good Offensive coach with a buddy defensive coach that sucks and pretending to be a HC with no balls or professionalism to get rid of his buddy.
This is what separates great teams with a high ceiling than fake pretenders.
Nah 2021 Michigan state was way worse than USC, msu was ranked dead last @ 130 in pass defense but went 11-2 lol

Have always rooted for USC expect when they play the Huskies, my alma mater. As a student in the 70's sitting in the cheap seats, SC running backs would run wild on our porous defense - Charles White, Ricky Bell and others. Very enjoyable to watch such talent running the ball on student-body-right plays. And those teams could play defense.

Or Georgia almost losing to 2 teams that they should be blowing out. Florida st beat a decent LSU team and then has been playing bad. Why haven't they moved down, because the voting committee hates USC

Arizona fan here. we lost the game in multiple phases. it shouldn't be an ot game. we were the better team last night. but 99 yards in penalties against usc and Caleb Williams will bite you. deciding to throw the ball with 3:00 left will bite you when the run game was working. throwing a pick, and losing momentum at the end of the first half will bite you (can't blame the young stud Noah there but it didn't help). the refs in the pac 12 will also bite you at random no matter what team you are (as seen by both teams this game). It is what it is. Arizona is a good team and I'm happy. I just hope coach fisch pulls his brilliant head out of his ass and gives Noah Fifita the starting job. he's earned it and Jayden de Laura did everything in his power to lose it. Fisch really is a smart guy but I can't believe we are about to start JDL again this week. He'll lose us the game against his old team wsu... watch.

AZ gave the blueprint on how to beat USC, they just made the wrong call in the first OT not going for 2.
I was liking Arizona’s HC until today.
First mistake, throwing deep when the run game was working. Even if it did work, why are you allowing USC to have a chance to win the game? You were so lucky USC choked in regulation. Coaches overthink things so much, and it pisses me off.
Now 1st OT, why are you kicking the FG? You go for OT, when the Heisman winner is on the other side? You go for 2. He played not to lose. And he got burned in 3rd OT.
Yep, Arizona's coaching staff did literally everything they could to hand the game to USC, and eventually it worked. I was left shaking my head. Arizona had the momentum. To be fair tho, their Defense literally quit at the end and that last play call decision.... Both USC and Arizona are 💩
Agreed, if you're ever playing a team that is much better than you and you have a chance to go for one play for the win, you take it. The longer you draw out the game, the more likely it is for the expected result to happen, in this case a USC win. It's just the law of averages. Colorado State made the same mistake against Colorado

Exactly like the inexcusable mistake Jay Norvell made against Colorado (although to be fair, that was worse for a couple of reasons, most notably that their best defensive lineman had just been ejected), Jedd Fisch HAS to go for 2 here 100 times out of 100. You are:
1. On the road
2. A three-touchdown underdog
If there is any likelihood that the opposing offense will score (i.e. you are not playing against Iowa or Sam Houston State), you're going to have to convert a 2 point attempt to win the game. By delaying that attempt, you only give the other team a chance to answer it. This is your last chance to steal the game.
Even under the old rules, where you can kick after OT2, you are now having to score first, which means if you convert the 2 USC can answer the 2 on their possession.
There is literally no defending the choice to kick 1 after the first overtime. It is as bad of a decision as Miami not kneeling the ball.

UA did play with a lot of heart, but they have some talent on offense. Their defense needs a few key players in the secondary. This is a good team.
Riley's gotta get some defensive talent recruited to this team and he's got to find a coach who can coach a working defensive scheme.

Williams did what he as a QBs gotta do, but that play call at the end was crap. Still, Arizona sacked Williams a few times and the redshirt Freshman had a stellar performance. Once Arizona can close out games like this, they will be a force for sure. Also, I bet their play will be way better than my undergrad's performance next week (Notre Dame under, Arizona Grad here)

What? USC screwed up over and over again. Their defense was porous. They screwed up the chip shot. They are sloppy. USC has tons of talented players, but they aren't being prepared or led well. Arizona isn't as horrible as they have been in the past, but they shouldn't have been within a touchdown of USC at any point.

Part of that blame has to fall on the kicker. You have to wait for that split second to account for a high or bad snap before you go into your kicking motion. The kicker is moving before the ball even hits the holder's hands.
