    GRAND! Seeing my very own computer assembly which i had 20 years ago. Even the brands, Asus and Sapphire are the same. I happened to have a great case regardless of it's cheapness. Blue acrylic case, no-brand, but so good i used it for 4 future generations.
    Note: You didn't have to take the AGP Pro sticker out, since 3850 isn't a pro card. Only developer cards such as Tesla had pro extension back then, regular gaming cards didn't require it.
    It's AGP port was overclockable till 99Hz and when I switched to 4670 with AGP bridge, I had to cool down the AGP bridge on graphics card and NB cooler on mobo with different heatsinks. My AGP was giving more performance than PCI-ex cards in time, since AGP used 64 bits (Pro 72-bits) bus line, with 33MHz difference (66 on agp vs 100 on pcie), so when you boosted to same Hz, AGP 8x was even faster than PCIe 16x

    Really nice 478 build, i think an older gpu will fit better btw, like 6800 Ultra AGP or x850XT, or even from the previous gen like 5950 Ultra/9800Pro will result in a more period correct build

    More like how to create the ultimate cpu bottleneck. The gpu driver overhead of a way too new radeon hd next to no driver optimization for older games doesn't really help.

    The stock cooler of this Radeon is not sufficient. I measured above 80°C under load, even with cleaning and thermal paste change. I had a Deepcool V90 cooler, strapped to an old card, so I put it on the HD3850 and the temps dropped to 60°C. Also vram heatsinks and possibly a bridge chip heatsink.

    I think you are not going to have TRIM support in Windows XP is this correct? Have you tried filling SSD for 90% capacity and then deleting the files and testing the speeds again?

    • @SkillsandTrade
      @SkillsandTrade  3 місяці тому

      I believe that is correct, Windows 7 does have TRIM support thankfully. I haven't tried filling an SSD to 90% and deleting to test speeds, but it is a very interesting idea and suggestion.

    8 pin, not a 6 pin for gpu power cable in gpu package at 7:20, when you connect psu cable to gpu, you said it correctly, you connected wrongly cpu cooler to PWR_FAN header not a CPU_FAN, even bios yelling it on you at first boot, you don't need to remove yellow sticker away, until you have agp pro card, which you probably never seen, i didn't, did you removed after that little white plastic? :D also they are still drivers on asus website, if you want to install windows xp on sata, you need to put drivers on floppy, or modify windows installation with special tools, that why you didn't get normal windows to your pc and was forced to install integral one... also you have wrong DRAM frequency, so your FSB:DRAM is not 1:1... using DRILL, for screwing is like using hummer h1 with minigun on roof for grocery shopping... btw your cpu will enjoy "healthy conditions" with such a small cooler, intel p4, especially at high frequencies, was hot like a hell... so sorry, but this video is one big nonsense, you did many things wrong and this video is about how to NOT build a pc, i wants to be polite, but you showed here your absolutely incompetence here... try to take it like a positive commentary and be better next time... gl & hf ;-)
    BTW put there something like Radeon 9600-9800, x800 or x850, gf 5 or 6 series, put there pata HDD, and put there an windows 98, and then call it Ultimate Windows 98 PC, this will be correct... so many mistakes, it broke my heart 🙂 about trim on ssd i don't say anything, coz you install windows 7 on it

      You claim he made all these mistakes, but here he is with a working computer to prove he did it right. Where's your video? How do we know anything you would have done would have ended up in a working PC? I can say for sure most of what you said is BS lol but I'm not going to make a wall of text to say so, it's obvious already. You're a poser 😂
