The powers-that-be on Grey’s may be unaware that they are perpetuating dysfunction and insinuating hopelessness in the lesbian community. I sometimes think that the writers and producers of this show do not take a responsible look at how they are affecting the global perception of lesbian relationships. The emotional suspense during the course of television relationships is a well-worn formula with viewers. However, when straight couples break up on tv, the audience’s emotional investment is tempered with an indelible history of heterosexual relationships as the societal norm. The course of heterosexual relationships, together or not, is familiar and expected.
But the same is not true in lesbian relationships. We have yet to see a lesbian couple on television (exception: the parents on The Fosters) forge a relationship by pushing through the difficult periods in a relationship and functionally stay together. Lesbians and their advocates throughout the world are still waiting, sometimes impatiently, for the norm to include lesbian couples.
Shonda is likely a brilliant and thoughtful person who has mastered the formula and I applaud her and all who are involved with Grey’s. It just may be time to widen the inclusion path to give tv viewers a more realistic look at the success of ALL relational communities.
It could be a powerful message of hope to those who are imploring to be positively seen from this hugely influential platform.

Kai and Amelia's ship needs to continue, as two main characters are leaving.
There's always a new relationship in this show and it always gets real good and sweet and then it gets tore apart.
why do the writers have to wreck every single relationship on greys, WHY. They were so right for each other. Amelia was happy and in a good place, i’ve had it with the children/no children storylines
The hardest thing for watchers that fully ship this to realize is that Kai was Amelia's soulmate but Amelia wasn't kai's, kais soulamate is their work. And for everyone saying they need a happy ending, as far as I know the funding ends here, the show has an end, not a good one but merideth has left, most have died and love has been lost to scalpels and careers.
Meredith left because Ellen pompei wanted to produce the show not act in it any more this show is still one of ABCs flagships they are not letting it go without a fight even without Ellen.
Ellen hasn't fully left yet, she will be in a few episodes yet.
Amelia is my favorite character and it’s so frustrating that she always gets the short end of the stick.
I loved Kai. They were so good for Amelia and highlighted her character development so well. I hope they come back.

They love each other so much. ❤️ Amelia has gone through so many trials in her life, and to find someone who celebrates her the way Kai does, instead of criticizing her past, is truly amazing. They don’t see Hurricane Amelia; they see Amelia who has learned and grown and become an amazing person. I don’t believe it’s the end for them, but god, 19x15 hurts my soul. Grey’s better fix this mess, because Kai and Amelia are truly meant to be together.

They were the reason why I started again watching the show. This whole London thing could have been a great opportunity for Amelia to leave Grey's behind.
Amelia doesn't want to leave, I'm happy she's still there, she is the main reason why I watch.

Falling in love with a woman who previously had a man in her life and children makes things very complicated. I think that Kai fell in love with Amelia but got scared.

They destroyed everything we had. All relationships (even hetero ones) were destroyed (except Miranda and Ben). Owen and Teddy's relationship is ridiculous. We need a lesbian relationship. Maybe we should write a letter to Shonda. Because if we don't get Kaimelia back, I'm gonna cry.

While I loved them together, I disagree. Kai didn't want kids and Amelia and her son are a package deal. There are so few characters in media that have their child free lifestyle respected. They were good together, they just wanted different things that can't be compromised on.

i wonder if this might be like Calzona where Arizona left and comes back because she wasnt happy without Callie. I dont like Kai for Amelia she has gone through a lot and deserves to be happy and i dont think Kai is willing to give up things for Amelia, i think Kai is living in the Right Now and not thinking in a long term i dont think she fully accepts that Amelia has a child even though she has said she wants Amelia. As a parent i couldnt be with someone who partially accepts my child and i wouldnt be selfish to make someone stay if its not what they want
I don't know why the writers are doing this. To me they're making Kai a villain. They don't even seem like the decision was even hard for them. And yeah, I can understand why they would want Amelia to be happy for them, but they're portraying them as not even being conflicted about it, which if you love someone, it should be. Just my two cents. I also don't know if E.R. Fightmaster wanted to do other things, but to bring on a non-binary character just to ax them so soon....it just stinks all around.

This is really beautiful!! I have not even seen the seasons yet I am back work Callie and Arizona broke up. Well I just ruined it for myself but I've always liked Amelia I think that is so amazing that she found a woman and that she's so connected to her and so happy. Just curious..does someone still watch this show?
I think in the last few seasons it's been ruined forever, I can't even recognize it anymore. I find it extremely frustrating what the writers do with the relationships between the characters, how they destroy them (particularly with queer/non traditional relationships and queer & trans/nb characters), it seems to follow a certain agenda at some point. I stopped at 18x03 and never continued nor felt the need/desire to, it just got so bad..
