Colter Wall, "Plain to see Plainsman," // GemsOnVHS™

- Hangin' with Colter Wall in Madison, near Nashville, over at Hank Snow's old house. Hank was another Canadian who came to Nashville playing country songs. He played the first North American written version of that ever famous song, "I Been Everywhere Man", adding a number of Canadian towns to the mix in his hit 1962 version. Anyhow, never get tired of hearing Colter play his songs. He's a humble, hard touring fellow. On such a tour schedule, this song about longing for the plains of home is no doubt a true story. Hope he finds some time to relax at the ranch this year.
This is a song off his new record, "Songs of the Plains".

Just played this at my Dads funeral two days ago. I couldn't hold it together when it started because this song fit his life perfectly, rest easy dad .
rest in peace pop. god bless.
Just reading that just made me start crying 😢
🙏☦️
I'm sorry for your loss. Peace and blessings to you and your family.
Rest easy, dad ❤
First heard this song on Yellowstone season 4.. thought for sure the person singing it was 85 or long gone from the 20’s-30’s.
F$&k me this kid is unreal! Love it!
Didn't know it was on Yellowstone. I guess we will start watching it
Colter Wall!! His Brewery sessions are unreal
do you know what the hat is called and where I can get it?
He said on his Twitter that he actually doesn't like how he sang on those sessions. Said they seemed quite forced. I also prefer this style.
@@reeppeen1241 Its a Stetson, take a look at their website, they're the real deal though, not cheap.
@@reeppeen1241 get an unshaped black felt hat and have someone shape it like that. i have one very similar to his
It's a Stetson Revenger too be exact. Between $100 -150 it'll run ya.
YELLOWSTONE is the country road that brought me here all the way from Kenya 🇰🇪
Colter more then makes up for that old bieber boy. You're all good Canada.
between colter wall and the dead south, canada's more than good
@@jacobsweat1520 agreed.
Saskatchewan makes them right
We gave you Bieber, you cant just give him back like that. Maybe try Iraq, im sure they have a spot for him eh
Ayy. Bieber isn't that bad once you get past his music...
God, please let this be the future of country music cause we are in real trouble.
Lots of good country but seems hard to find. I like am country heaven FM country hell by Jason Eady, he tried to explain it
Love the line “The south has filled up both my belly and soul” Hits so close
Update… got a tattoo that says this. Not that anyone cares, but just reread this comment
@@tylerresnick2480 wonderful
An old soul...no doubt in my mind.
He's like the love child of Johnny and Marty Robbins with the writing skills of Townes
Ok, he's good... but take it easy.
Sgt.StickyTits hahahaha
@@SgtStickyTits It's true. He is already a legend if you ask me.
Man you put it so perfectly
Makes me proud to be a Canadian when he sings. The Canadian spirit he holds as close as musicians that came before him.
Makes me proud to be from Saskatchewan haha
Colter is a distillation of everything I want when I come to this kind of music
Best songwriting of the century. Argue with me.
I would except I agree with you. He is exceptional.
nah
We can’t.
He’s probably too 5. I kinda like the writing of Benjamin Todd, Childers, and sturgill a little more than colter...but colter is def top 5. Jamey Johnson is exceptional with his wordplay on some of this more unknown songs as well.
Benjamin Tod, tyler childers, zach bryan, aaron lewis, colter wall, sturgill simpson, vincent neil emerson, matt heckler, hill country devil, shakey graves, the dead south..... are saving country music as we know it
I live in the south now, but I grew up in North Dakota. This song speaks to me.
Thank you yellowstone for bringing me here
This young man possess the gift of writing narrative songs which contain the essence of traditional folk/country music which celebrates place, community and the human spirit. His gruff baritone is the ideal instrument for singing them.
Very original voice 🙃
Been listening to colter wall for a while. Love him!!! Love Kate McKinnon
I love the wind up to "and I put 3 rounds in Kate McCannon". Boy has true talent
Same
Well I fucking hate that bitch McCannon. She got what she deserved.
Fuck UA-cam it was autocorrect you fucking idiot go back to your fucking hole. If this is what you have to time do then I’m sorry you have a sad life.
Colter is finally giving my dear home Saskatchewan the credit it deserves! Truly a hidden gem in this world.
You could tell me every song he sings is a cover of an Old Era country song and I’d believe you. He encompasses that spirit flawlessly
The plainsman himself 🤠
This song certainly strikes a chord with those of us fortunate enough to have been born and raised on the Canadian prairies. It's an amazing piece of work.
Love me some Colter! He's a troubadour and a modern storyteller..
This is one of my favorite songs from this guy
I’ve been listening to colter for a few years now. It always takes me by surprises then they play him on the show Yellowstone. It’s awesome to me that they use lesser known country western singers.
One of the most beautiful vocal-melodies ever
A talented, talented young man. A legend in the making for sure. Simple and soulful, the way country should be played.
Yellowstone brought me here and guess what? His voice is out of this world, So satisfying.
Just saw him last night at the Georgia Theatre and before that at the Variety Playhouse.
Wish I could get the band to sign the record and shirts I bought.
I'm so jealous. All our Australian country singers are a little bit gay
As a Canadian, Colters music has honestly made me fall in love with the parries
Sorry for your loss.. definitely a true person
True Country Music 🤠😍😍😭😭
This guy keeps me going.
I was no expecting that voice. Wow. Awesome!
I am proud to say I'm a colter wall fan
Amazing voice from such a young dude ✌️
Indeed. All you need is talent and a pack a day.
That ol lady on the bench like it’s no big deal.
Great channel, great artist. Both deserve all the praise they receive.
This song is so powerful it brings a tear to my eye. Not of sadness, but it speaks to my soul in such a way it's hard to put into words. This is my all time favorite song...ever. Colter is a legend!!! Such a talent
Raw talent, raw emotion. Exceptional. What I would give to have been somewhere behind the camera. Colter is one of a kind. I’m just proud to be alive to hear it now.
Felt the words to my soul, voice brought a tear to my eye. Great performance 👏
Gotta love Gems on VHS! Always bringing the fresh talent! & Colter Wall...I mean damn. What a killer sound! I've been jamming his tunes for a hot minute now. I hope to one day share the stage with Mr. Wall
So much potential for colter!! For movies to music etc
Never ceases to amaze me tho hear that voice come out of that sweet face ❤
This is as good a performance of this song that I have so far seen Colter perform.
What a day it is for us Gems subscribers.
A song from Colter and a song from Shannon Jae Ridout.
I am ever so grateful for all you do for us Anthony.
He and his old Martin rocks!!!!!!
I just love Colter... saw him twice this month! Can't wait to see him again in the future!!! :)
Colter wall you are amazing keep it coming can't wait to see you live
Yes, you could say that. Hank Snow definitely "made a name for himself".😅Obviously one of the greatest flattop pickers in country music history.
His voice has improved a lot since I first started listening to him, great combination of songwriter and singer, this is the type music I like to listen to around a bonfire.
Texan living in the Pacific Northwest, this song hit me hard. I’m very out of place in these parts.
Now THAT'S the good stuff!
The spirit of Johnny Cash lives in this man.
Colter's voice surprises me every time I hear him. So talented.
Colter on Gems!!! Absolutely love it.
Damn, this guy was born too late. His voice and gentle pickin hits me in the heart. Well done my friend
I’d love to see Colter Wall and Sierra Ferrell sing together. Hope it can happen!
man this guy is amazing as heck i cant believe hes real!!!!!!
I love this man
One of the best country artists from Canada right now playing at one of the best country artists to come from Nova Scotias ranch!
Love the use on Yellowstone
Good to hear somebody with classic sound I love these videos I come across
What a country gem
He's got a hell of a voice on him. Thanks for sharing Anthony.
Madison Davidson county represent😃..love your music much respect
Fantastic!!!
When the sound came his mouth, mine was left open. Shit brother, get that tour on!
Hearing the tones of the strawberry roan in this one. Dudes done his homework.
Effortless...seemingly. I love you colter.
A great new talent that I'm happy to find here on UA-cam, hope to see him in person someday😏
Was waiting for this! Love to see Colter on this page, for Canada 🇨🇦
I fucking love this kid
Saw him in Austin, great performance. Loved how he kept a flask of Marker's on stage. Cheers!
Living legend!!!
Going to the concert in Grand Junction soon. He got stuck on the mountain and they cancelled the show last time lol.
I found this guy maybe a year ago and my old lady and I listen to him all the time.
Colter Wall is one of my favorites!
Yesterday I had the pleasure to shake hands with the plain to see plainsman himself at the 108 on I 40 in Tennessee. He d be pretty easy to pick out of a lineup much less walking out of a gas station.😁 They were on their way to Luckenbach from Hank Snows place. Kinda crazy meeting the guy whose CD is literaly in your CD player. How cool is that! I had better odds of winning the lottery! My hats off to these gentleman for carving out their own path and doing their own deal! Cool guy! Godspeed to him and his band! David Rickman@farrier731... He’s always been good but man he’s stepped up his game on the new album. Love him, if you have a chance to see him live do it!
I'm seeing him next week and I couldn't be more excited.
He is a boss and I am going to see him play Saturday.
Thank you for sharing this, Colter Wall is awesome!!
Fuck yes I've been awaiting see him again
His voice!
Love Colter Wall!
Yellowstone! Love his vocals.
If this isn't the greatest song you've ever heard I can't f***with you
Great performance, love this shit
genial como siempre el señor Colter!
si, hola amigo!
I cut through the Rockies like some unholy blade
The icy depths of the Pacific I have bade
Forever I wander, forever I stray
The rustle of wheat fields starts callin' my name
Callin' my name
Let me die in the country that I love the most
I'm a plain-to-see plainsman, and this I will boast
A heart that lies far from the East or West Coast
This plain-to-see plainsman is longin' for home
Longin' for home
Well the North-folk are dandy, they don't mind the cold
The South has filled up both my belly and soul
I know when I'm gray and I know when I'm old
These bones will cry out for the place they were born
Place they were born
Let me die in the country that I love the most
I'm a plain-to-see plainsman, and this I will boast
A heart that lies far from the East or West Coast
This plain-to-see plainsman is longin' for home
Longin' for home
I've met beautiful women, a pleasure to see
Road-bitten bikers and barefoot hippies
Junkies and saints on my travels I greet
But far too few are homesick young plainsmen like me
Plainsmen like me
Let me die in the country that I love the most
I'm a plain-to-see plainsman, and this I will boast
A heart that lies far from the East or West Coast
This plain-to-see plainsman is longin' for home
Longin' for home
Thank you❤ Regards from🇮🇹
Pure magic.
I love him so much
The voice seems to be a lot older than the body it inhabits - really good stuff!
reminds me of single digits nights driving home in the snow after work, i listened to colter exclusively those nights and now theyre all i think about when i hear this song
This is my father! Much love, thank you ✌️
Mine too!
He could play a street dog thats a gifted singer/songwriter in a children's animated movie. The dip he does with his head makes him look like he's a stray hound howling his heart out.
sounds like he smoked a pack of durries and drank some jackie d's ....... sounds so good aye
OH MY GOD! I loved this guy before this, I'm so happy that you found him! :)
YES! COLTER WALL!
Thanks mate.
Yeah boy
I love you, Gems.
❤❤❤
Simple, easy and smooth. Much enjoyed.
