My biology teacher told us in highschool about his friend who had a pet Piranha. It acted like any other fish would and he would even put his hand in the water with the fish to show it wasn't a mean evil fish.

Years ago, I was at the woodland Park zoo in Seattle, and I happened to walk through the tropical fish and amphibians type area right as they were feeding the piranhas. I tell ya... the kids were SCREAMING. I just turned to my wife, and said "dang that trout got it's face ripped off and it's still choochin". Whichever zoo keeper decided to dump live trout in the piranha tank right as that gaggle of kids went by? They're my hero, it was some of the funniest stuff I've ever seen.

From what I understand, there are numerous species of pirhana. The Amazon River is the most bio diverse amongst pirhana. Behaviors vary amongst all pirhana species. Although the pirhana's reputation is largely exaggerated, the locals from Amazonian regions are still cautious of pirhana. I thought that might be worth noting? 🤷‍♀️ If you go visit a new place, do as the locals do. Lol.
