    Very good video on what appears to be a very good battery. The ability to create a small, off-grid, DIY power solution is getting easier and easier.

    Great review. You gave the informed viewer all the data they needed to know. If the viewer does not yet understand the data that you provided, then the viewer needs to study and learn more before they move forward. This battery as you tested seems to be a very high-quality battery. Having Low temperature protection and the Bluetooth APP makes it a great choice if you live in cold climates or plan on traveling to cold climates. Thank you very much for the professional review. The way you "boxed" in the data you were talking about and referring to while showing the APP screen that was full of data was extremely helpful.

    I appreciate you putting forth all the effort making this review. Present as a fairly good bargain for what all it has. Bought Chins 100 amp hour last year no Bluetooth no temperature sensor it was $279 then I use my Amazon credit card $200 discount what is a gooddeal. For my indoor environment didn’t need the extras. I do like the idea of having all you were showing in certain environments and Bluetooth connectivity is a nice bonus.

    For plastic caps, take some 1/2in pex, heat it the end with a little butane torch a lighter or a heat gun, push it over the head of the bolt, let it cool. I put some tape over the end of the pex to close it off but you can get as fancy as you want, including maybe cut in a wing to cover over the connector, etc. (I don't like tape on the bolt itself, harder to remove and can leave sticky goo behind.)
    Or there is always a 3d printer, or one could purchase rubber boots like used on your car starter battery.

    Good review, seems like a real quality battery. At $0.31 per Watt hour and all of the additional features, impressive!

    Another good video, to the point and concise, I have not purchased any batteries due to the fact of winter up north. In March is the time for me to buy, I will use you recommendations for my purchase.

    Love your video! It brought up 2 questions after watching.
    1.) When you removed cold soaked battery, it has (2) warnings. If it was just protecting it from charging, I would have expected (1) warning. Seeing the second warning made me think it was ALSO protecting it from discharging. Which I dont think you mentioned or tested that when it was cold.
    2.) If you CAN discharge it when really cold. How much quicker would the internal temps rise if a moderate load was applied? Im assuming much quicker than the 3 hrs of waiting in the video.
    *Keep the videos coming. You have a great setup. Soon 100k subscribers!

      Hey, thanks for the kind words! On your first point, the 2 warnings were just a specific (charge protection) and a general (Low-temp protection). The more telling indicators on the app though were the states of the MOSFETs. The Charge MOS was showing OFF (ie - no charging permitted due to the low temp), but the Discharge MOS was still showing ON (indicating that at that temperature, you could still discharge the battery safely, as expected). On you r 2nd point...damn! I wish I'd thought to test/show that! :P I think your assumptions are correct in that a small/moderate load would very likely has sped up the warming process to allow charging sooner. The next question then would be is there a net gain in the charge-to-full window if you do that since you'd have to also replace the power you're consuming while speeding up the warming. Then again, if you need the power, you need the power! So whether or not it's a net gain might be a moot point depending on your needs. Still...I wish I'd thought of it. I'll test next that on the next one!! I've got a BEAST of a battery coming in soon with low-temp and warming capabilities. We'll see how that goes.

    I just got two of these for my trolling motor. I wish they had a video or user guide for the app itself. I don't understand the Query thing and what binding does (what do you enter for the ID?) and then the Administration mode (again what do you enter there when prompted). I was able to connect them to Bluetooth and get the readings eventually once I figured out I had to skip the Binding.

    Hello, can you evaluate the lithium battery of the brand "tycorun", their price seems to be a little more favorable. I wonder if the battery is fully functional.

    I think your review was very good. I had purdchased two to the batteries a few months ago. Generally the batteries perform as advertized. I have encountered two issues with the Roy Pow Fish Application. The first is, The Application only is supported using Apple IOS. The second issue with the application concerns its limited ultility if more than one battery are in its bluetooth range. Meaning if using more than one battery the bluetooth will only access one of the batteries.

      Thanks for sharing your XP when using more than one battery. I'd wondered how it would behave, but didn't have a way to confirm. I WILL say though that I was using the Android RoyPow app and it definitely was working fine for me...so maybe they fixed an earlier issue you may have had?

    Prices are finally coming down from 1000 to 250 bucks on LiFeP04 batteries. I was able to get a 300ah with the last of my savings and still can`t figure out exactly what to do to get it, a 60 amp MPPT charge controller, and panels wired up to power a 500w air conditioner without destroying it all. Every single time I mention how I`m thinking about doing it another person tells me it`s the wrong way. So I may never use the stuff. I`m on a small fixed income and keep wasting more and more money and accomplishing nothing.

      Honestly there's so many channels and websites now that can help you diy a system but if you're finding it still confusing maybe diy isn't for you. They do sell prewired battery boxes out there. All you have to do is put your own batteries and inverter in. One company "Cutting Edge Power" has a basic prewired box for $190. If you're out of money sell one of your batteries and go with a prewired system instead.

    By having the build in battery monitor does this save money or cost about the same it purchased separately?

    • @ReeWrayOutdoors
      @ReeWrayOutdoors  Рік тому +1

      Really kind of depends. There are really inexpensive battery monitors out there and really expensive ones as well. I think if you have a very small system (say, 1-4 batteries only), then you're going to want a decent battery monitoring system that will monitor the entire bank and not just a single battery anyway. But having it integrated it definitely handy on small systems.

    What happens with the app if you have three batters. Do you need to use three different app or can you use one app to see all the batters.

    • @ReeWrayOutdoors
      @ReeWrayOutdoors  Рік тому

      The app does have a 'Device' page which I believe will allow you to pick which battery (listed by S/N) you want to monitor. But without have more than 1 to test with, I'm not 100% certain that's how it works...just appears that way to me.

    This is their cheaper battery that is using GRADE B cells, they have another marine grade battery and they are grade A cells, those test to like 108 AH and over 1300WH. Tell them to send you that one so you can compare.
