Tim that was a great video. My stuff is state of the art 1975. I have a Kelty Serac external frame backpack, Seva 1-2-3 white gas stove, and Sierra Designs 3 season down bag. The internal frame backpacks gained popularity in the late '70s because you could use them for cross country skiing. The external frame packs prevented your arm from swinging backward. You didn't have that problem with the internal frame packs. I think Folks didn't want to buy two packs so the internal frame pack became the standard. At least initially, the internal frame packs were not as comfortable on long 10-14 day backpacks when you were carrying a load of 40-50 pounds, but I believe they have figured that out.
John - I hope so... and hopefully not carrying 40 or 50 pounds. A typical PCT long distance hiker (which I am not) is in the 15-18 pound range (some less - few more) .. including food which is resupplied every 5 days or so. My goal would be to keep my total weight - with food and camera - below 20 lbs. Lets see how that works out.
Great to see you making videos! It's good to see non-corona focused content from creators. Hmm, maybe people are getting used to this "stay home" stuff. 😄 I was thinking about things to shoot around my neighborhood today in prep for the weekend, and I have made a goal to work on macro photography. It's spring, flowers are getting close to blooming so what better way to practice without having to drive. Stay healthy and we're all looking forward to hitting the trall soon.
Thank you Tim. I also struggle with the "semi-pro" / "aggressive amateur" compartment. I never know the correct way to describe, to others, my place in this hobby. Be well.
Michael - yeah... aspiring amateur is pretty descriptive... Given the whole community has been decimated by this who COVID-19 issue, its a good time to "hunker down" in my stable profession - literally and figuratively. Thanks.
Jeff. I carry a go-pro or DJI Osmo Action. I tried this out on the first winter overnight this past winter. Not ideal, but I made it work. That would be my plan - carry a second small camera like this.

@@TimKirkPhotos Amazing. I was not aware of the incredible advances in lightweight gear.

Its good to get out as much as possible. For the near-term, looks like everything will be close to home. Thanks for the comment.

Hey Tim. Good video. One question I have is with only the one Sony A6500 camera how do you go about using it for both vlogging and shooting?

you need to add an affiliate link to like amazon, so when we order like that tent you get some money back in return.
Wendy - thanks. I have thought about that and may being using those sometime in the future. For now, just happy to share information. Thanks again :)
