One of my favorite artists of all time. Sting is a purist and has an intention with every song he does. He is a rarity. Not only does he sings and writes but he also orchestrates his songs. Summoners Tales in one of my all time favorite albums. Additionally he was the lead singer of The Police. Additionally, many artist have sampled this song. Drake, Juice World and Monica (just to name a few) have sampled this song.
Sting is a genius song writer, musician and performer, he is such a fantastic talent, bringing passion and poetry to all his work. He is one the all time greats of the music industry. You could try 'fields of gold' excellent song....🙂
I love Sting and his voice! So iconic! I love this song, it’s on the soundtrack of one of my favorite movies, The Professional! Great movie about a girl whose family is killed by mobsters and she gets a hit man to help her get revenge! Sting was formerly with The Police before going solo in the eighties!❤❤
Sting is a legend as a composer but this song is made by the guitar melody. His guitarist Dominic Miller tells the story of him doing some finger practice and Sting walking by asking him about it. Then Sting went on a walk and a while later he came back with the lyrics and they made this finger practice into this beautiful song. It was sampled by multiple rap/rnb artists but you may also know it from the credits of Leon: the Professional which is an awesome movie.
His most famous songs were with The Police such as Every Breath You Take and Roxanne. He then had a very successful solo career. Any song from the album Nothing Like the Sun is fantastic. Also Desert Rose from the Brand New Day album. About a year ago I saw Sting in concert at the Hollywood Bowl where this was one of the songs he did. It was a magical night.
Where does one start in recommending a Sting song... If i ever lose my Faith 🙏 Fragile A Thousand Years When we Dance💃 Desert Rose⚘️ Just to name a few. Thanks for the reactions!!!
There is a documentary called "Bring on The Night" which goes over Sting's first solo album and the lead up to the first concert of his solo career in Paris. It is really good. Plenty of music in it. But what I find fascinating is it goes over some of his arranging processes when setting song up.
This song was played at the end of the movie "The Professional". If you've seen the movie, then you've definitely heard this song. You can watch it here on UA-cam. Just search for "The Professional Closing Scene". Really sad.
Sting is my favorite solo artist of all time. He’s a beautiful man inside and out. His voice is haunting and takes me to another place. You should listen to a song he did with Rod Stewart and Bryan Adams called All for One for All, from the 1993 film The Three Musketeers. These 3 singers have very distinct raspy voices that are magical when combined.
i always get this song and another song off this album called Its Probably Me confused. Because they were both used in movies over the credits. This song from The Professional (aka Leon) and Its Probably Me from Lethal Weapon 3
Hi! This entire album is PURE fyre (from smoldering to raging)! Ten Sumner's Tales. Other than Sting, the name you need to know is Vinnie Colaiuta, the drummer. Trust me, listen to the entire album, you will not be disappointed, Sting only jams with THE BEST musicians.
Such a beautiful melody and very clever play on words. This song was released in the early 90s and was sampled by another British artist called Craig Daivd for his song 'Rise & Fall' in the early 2000's which actually feature Sting. Check it out 👍
try 'Something the Boy Said', last song from the same album, Ten Summoner's Tales. The whole set is a gem! Also this song closes out Leon: The Professional, a masterwork of a movie. set in 1994 New York
Somebody sampled this? LOL MULTIPLE Artists sampled this! Rappers Rockers and Country ... Artists across the board have used a variation of this. The Guitar riff is Infamous for how hard it is to do Right and has been mimicked but not reproduced... NOT EVEN by the Guy who came up with the riff for Sting. He played a dirty easy version of the riff in live shows. Because it took so long to get right in studio for the album he rarely plays it correctly live. It has become known as one of the most difficult guitar pieces in history! May I direct you two to a video from a guitar guy and fellow Utuber.... Paul Davids (STING'S MOST COPIED RIFF - Why it's so HARD to get it right)
Sting. What can one say? Melancholy song about a melancholy life wasted with a gambling metaphor. Desperately trying to figure out how to change the game because deep down he knows it’s not really him.
Many mentioned the sample of this song. I don't think anyone said Emotional by Carl Thomas. I think Carl's is the best sample of the song, second to Craig David's.
Рік тому
he doesnt have accent hes british all the others have
Subscribe! "It's Free"
Craig David "rise and fall" still i would call it a re-song and not a sample cuz he did it WITH Sting himself
Simply one of the best songwriter of the past 40 years
It was sampled by Nas (The Message) and Juice WRLD (Lucid Dreams) for which he was famously sued.
Nas asked first

"Leon" and this song is the perfect combination
It was also in the soundtrack of Leon the Professional.

Some of the world's best musicians there.
The big key modulation in the middle of this one is goosebumpy great. Super musicians, gorgeous piece, gorgeous album.
Yes Sting is from England.

Sting's British that's why you notice an accent
Sting was my first concert.

Probably the most sampled riff in modern music ever :D
The sample was used on Carl Thomas' emotional
try 'Something the Boy Said', last song from the same album, Ten Summoner's Tales. The whole set is a gem! Also this song closes out Leon: The Professional, a masterwork of a movie. set in 1994 New York

Juiceworld sampled this, I think the song is called lucid dreams.
The movie soundtrack to 'Leon'.
Juice World sampled it... God rest his soul 🙏
His beats sampled so many time by different musicians he's getting paid lots of money. Carl Thomas: Emotional just one
Great reaction! Carl Thomas sampled this song in the track called emotional. 🙌🏾
A Little late with a comment. Thank you for this. Try "Fragile" as well as "Fields of Gold."
Nas the message Carl Thomas, juice world lucid dreams
You heard Sting Fragile ? React to Tupac When Thugz Cry (Original Version) he sampled Fragile By Sting
A British icon
Juice Wrld sampled this on Lucid Dreams, that’s probably what you knew it from
Mahn the one with Craig David is also good but the two versions are two artists telling the sme message with different lyrics
please please check his songs: *_Fragile_* and *_Be Still My Beating Heart_* and *_Fields Of Gold_*
Nicely reviewed. If you revisit sting, maybe take a listen to Desert Rose for something a bit out of the ordinary.
PLEASE REACT TO STING FILDS OF GOLD
Juice wrld sample this for lucid dreams
Carl Thomas sampled this
Sugababes did the sample
Sting never sampled anyone.... he didn't need to.
Please react to it's probably me, sting version
Beautiful song! Now listen to Nas - The Message ;)
It's been sampled a lot, looks like the "biggest" time by Nas?
