I purchased a losi mini t for $30 about 6 years ago and am starting to get into rc. I believe the battery is bad and doesn't hold voltage. It has the mamba micro pro esc with some other motor.
Cool! Tony If I remember from back in the day when I had 2 brushless mini T's you used to go with high KV motors 5700 and higher but it does sound like your winding out maybe try a larger pinion gear and maybe a smaller spur gear if they have them for it.
What's it like for heat, I used to run trackstar 30a and 5000kv in my mini t that thing used to fly. Seems pretty well set up, I wouldn't bother going for more speed as be overkill I think.
I'd like to do this motor and esc upgrade to my stock mini t, I feel this is the right speed for the car where you wont break stuff and its still plenty fast. Do I need a new transmitter or can I use the stock transmitter when upgrading? If I need a new one can you recommend a good one?
Hi man, great video! What servo did you use for this video? I have steering problems after just a few runs. It won't accelerate staight in one line :-( even after hitting the steering trim to let it accelrate straight. I rode some reviews that the stock sx017 servo is crappy. Wich servo do you recommend?
The 5200kv is about as fast as stock motor. But it makes a lot more power. So youl be able to gear it higher without issues. The 7800kv is a big jump in speed stock gears
With a 5700kv motor in a 2wd you'll have to gear up alot more. And you should be able to without any heat issues. A car like that should be running a 8200kv castle on 2s or something like the 7800kv hobbywing anything in the 6000kv and larger with stock gearing or close to
@@joshuaburgess4730 A programming card is a device you can connect to the ESC to program the way it controls the motor. To keep it simple, you can control acceleration and braking and sometimes the timing of the motor to get some more top speed, depending if the ESC has that function. They're usually a bit bigger than a credit card, but thicker and pretty cheap.
I've got this exact 5200kv system with 58t spur, 18t pinion... The timing is somewhere in the half n for me it makes a real difference... I'm waiting on a 19t pinion gear as I speak...
Add a 18 to a 27 tooth pinion and also a 3s battery mine is only running the 4200kv and on 2 cell with an 18 tooth pinion it is about 30 or so and then I drop in the 3s I can keep up with my buddies Arrma Typhoon on 4s. Waiting to get my 20 to 27 tooth pinions in and slowly try each pinion to see where it tops out at
Hey Tony. Thinking of getting this for my little fella... But interested in upgrading to a brushless motor. Not been able to watch the upgrade video yet... Did you install a separate receiver or is the Hobbywing an esc/receiver combo? Thanks for the guidance Tony et al
Set punch to like 3 and get a better battery I have same system and I can do standing backflips with the stock gearing on the p t online tires cause the oem ones are now slicks😂
I've seen some people mention a horizon receiver that works with the stock remote but in my opinion it's not worth keeping they're are cheap rx/tx setups on amazon and Ebay that would control better and probably have better range.
Did you ever figure out how to tune it to get more speed out of it? Strongly considering getting this motor/esc/programmer combo but at 17mph that's definitely not worth it to me for my Mini-B!
✌🏻😎🏴To be honest Tony I was thinking it would go about 30mph when the brushless system was put in there. Maybe I was being over optimistic. Do you think you will get more speed out of it? Then the question is will the esc & motor take it?
CCxRC yeah I did hear you say that👍🏻That’s why I asked will the motor and esc be able to take it? Can’t wait until you get this thing going. I’m hoping this is the one I’m looking for. Can you get off road tyres to fit on there??
Thank you! This A1 hobbywing Kit is just what the doctor ordered!!! I wasn’t aware it existed, I was waiting for the dynamite 6000kv to be released. This looks way better. 😎
I had the 6000kv 2in1 combo. Ended up dialing it back to about 70% for racing on a sugar track. The 5200kv would likely be perfect for racing.
How do you adjust punch settings and turn it up?
How did you fit pinion on motor
Back in the day of the first mini t we ran a mamba system similar to this
It was faster for sure
I have the losi xcelorin 7400 with the old 25a esc and my og mini t does like 43 mph. my wltoys a959 is way faster stock
The 8000 mamba was nuts!

I didn’t see that combo
On my losi mini t2.0 Im a running 7800kv motor 60t spur gear 18t pinion 860 mah battery and it runs runs like a champ.
What's it like for heat, I used to run trackstar 30a and 5000kv in my mini t that thing used to fly. Seems pretty well set up, I wouldn't bother going for more speed as be overkill I think.
What’s shocks are those?
Now with the beefier front a-arms they came out with this should be a great little truck.
I have a 2440 6000kv motor coming for mine. After seeing your vid. I might be in for a lot more than I thought.
Great run Tony👍👍 This is proving to be a very capable mini. Love how it flies off the ramp.
This puts me in the mood for racing the kids👍I need 3 of these
What size banana plugs are off the esc? 2mm?
Only 18mph? What is it box stock then?

Solid upgrade, it moves pretty quick for how small it is. Funny how thr gps is half the size of the car 😂
Running the quicrun 4500kv and love it so far! Excellant truck for the price!

What’s the best servo to upgrade to from the junk sx107 Servo that it comes with?

Thanks for the tips! Definitely need to change it up
Did you have to modify anything when you installed the system or was it a direct fit?
Try using the programming card to increase the timing of the motor, that’ll up the speed a bit
What's that?

Got a link to one? Here's the motor I installed

I installed a separate Spektrum receiver. The Hobbywing is just an ESC and motor combo.
Does the motor that comes in the combo have a flat spot on motor shaft?
No.
I bought that same kit for my sons latrax rally. It didn’t fit so I guess I need to buy a mini t to put it in…
Are you using 3s
Set punch to like 3 and get a better battery I have same system and I can do standing backflips with the stock gearing on the p t online tires cause the oem ones are now slicks😂
The original mini t I had I used the mamba system on and it was uncontrollable LOL
Wow great brushless conversion but shame it's not faster merry Christmas to you and yours
I know it's not the same car but my latrax sst with this esc and motor 18a 5200kv goes 30mph
So when it’s stock all you need is that Hobbywing kit and nothing else or does the original Rx/tx work?
Original receiver is built into the esc so will need to upgrade.
Joshua Lee can I just upgrade the receiver? If so what would be my best option?
I've seen some people mention a horizon receiver that works with the stock remote but in my opinion it's not worth keeping they're are cheap rx/tx setups on amazon and Ebay that would control better and probably have better range.
Will a carson reflex x1 fit too?
Did you ever figure out how to tune it to get more speed out of it? Strongly considering getting this motor/esc/programmer combo but at 17mph that's definitely not worth it to me for my Mini-B!
I put a bigger pinion on it. I'd get the dynamite combo esc motor. I put it in my buggy and it's much faster
Cool video nice upgrades jumps great I took mine to skatepark this morning popes front arm out of bulk pin
✌🏻😎🏴To be honest Tony I was thinking it would go about 30mph when the brushless system was put in there. Maybe I was being over optimistic. Do you think you will get more speed out of it? Then the question is will the esc & motor take it?

I'm probably going to pick this up looks like fun.To go brushless did you have to change the stock ESC also?
Looks like about a perfect speed for that car
Wish there were more good 1/18th scale cars out there
It’s so smooth!
Real smooth. Drives really well
How long will the diff last with that system
It has metal gears for going brushless...should last a long time.
I was bummed that it isn’t sealed, can’t really put thick oil in it from standard.
Do you have to buy a receiver?
Yes. If you change the ESC, you need a new receiver.
great little rig, Love your area, Do you live in the US
Your should try this in the new wltoys rig
Should be getting 24-25 mph out of that stock brushless motor easy.
I don’t know if I should get the 5200kv and run it on 3s or get the 7800kv and run it on 2s or run it on 3s. Any recommendations
I should’ve done the 7800 on 2s
CCxRC what do you think the 5400kv on 3s would be or what about the 7800kv on 3s, do u think it would be too powerful
17 mph??? ughh somethings wrong for sure
2s or 3s
I was only running on 2s
I have hobby wing 7800kv and it’s I bet 25-30mph
Stock pinion?
What all did you have to do to make it work?
A dx5e and a receiver and the hobbywing 12t 7800kv stock pinion it’s to fast on 2s
Gregory Iozzo awesome, Thanks!
Thank you! This A1 hobbywing Kit is just what the doctor ordered!!!
I wasn’t aware it existed, I was waiting for the dynamite 6000kv to be released. This looks way better. 😎
I'm going 3s with mine and faster esc/motor combo
50 a esc, different gearing and it will be to fast.
Excellent !!!
CCxRC Check out my setup on my 2.0 its hitting 75mph plus
Punchy little buggy. -"Angry" Dave
It’s a shame they’re so slow as standard it’s very disappointing!
Yeah man I agree my WLtoys a959b and 144001 will destroy that losi and both of them together is about the same price as a stock losi
@@backyardr.c.channel4732 the Mini-T is $140, the 144001 is $100 alone.
All u need is a 3s.......
#8👍
Can you run the brushless system on 3s?
Will it do 3s on dis combo
