  • what's going on guys in todays video we will be going over what has been going on with my wife 2001 Nissan Pathfinder 3.5 4x4.
to make a long story short the issue with the idle was a bad computer. We replaced the idle control chip in the computer and that fixed the issue. the only issue now is the car reeves too low and has a hard time idling. if you want more info on how we found out the issue watch this video he did a great job explaining the issue thanks man!
the chip we replaced was the NEC UPA1560H ZIP-10 RH but there are other options so you have to see what your pcm came with from the factory.

so I guess pt 3 of this series is going to be finding the root of the low idle and trying to get it fixed so stay tuned!

I have not watched both your videos yet, but did you CHECK the IAC? It affects the computer and can blow a fuse. Symptoms are bad idle, no idle to computer failure/burnout.

Yeah! The bad IAC IS WAHT blew the computer it shorted out and messed it all up ;/

@@Ectorcabral Sorry for your troubles. It is a common 2001 3.5 problem. The annoying thing for me, when replacing the ECM with a used one, was paying a LockSmith to come and reprogram the ECM for the original keys. Also annoying, is the price Nissan and aftermarket want for an ECM. Oh well. Sad for me though, when I went to have a shop replace the TPS, they also reinstalled the old IAC, so I am back to square one, but my Pathfinder is running, and I manually set the idle, which sucks for a cold start.

Dang that sucks I was lucky to find one in the junk yard but man it’s has been a pain I have not paid for them to program yet bc the transmission broke on us

Hi, i have the same exact vehicle! I am experiencing similar issue as yours. My car randomly died on me, but it started back up. Ever since, the car in park revs very similar to yours in the video in the first minute, where it revs by itself completely between 1500-200rpm. Was able to drive it back home, but I havent had a chance to look at it completely. Did changing the chip solve your issue or was it a vacuum leak?

Changing the chip did solve my issue! I think I did not do a good job or something else is wrong with the board because it stoped the bouncing idle but now it has a hard time turning on or it idles to low and just acts really strange
But most of the times the car turns on and starts like no problem like nothing is wrong
What I recommend is go to the junk yard and find the computer of your car and replace it you have match the part numbers but if you find the right one you just have the key reprogrammed and I recommend replacing the Idle Air Control it’s the part that’s bolted on to the bottom of your throttle body and that usually failed and burns up the computer.
      Good luck

Hello, could you tell me what you did not connect and was causing the computer failure? I have the same problem and I can't find the fault

    • @Ectorcabral
      @Ectorcabral  Рік тому

So what I think caused the issue is the car sat with a low battery and but it burned out the idle control valve thats under the throttle body. Typically when that burns up it takes the computer with it so when you replace the computer you have to make sure you have a new idle air control valve.
Good luck man! Let me know if you have anymore questions!

Hey man. I've got a 2001 infiniti QX4 crank with no start. Now, I was told if theecc2 fuse blows, to pull the IAC connector to save your PCM. I checked my fuse block and the ecc2 fuse was fine. I pulled the IAC connection anyhow, hooked up my battery and went to start again, but the Ecc1 fuse blew. DO you have any idea what that fuse is suppose to go to?
    Thank you

Sounds like you have an electrical issue for sure check to see if you have power to simple things like the cigarette lighter window defrost etc. and make sure your obd2 port is working that will kind of point you in the direction that you need to go.
For my wife’s pathfinder it took for ever to find the PCM issue and even after I fix it my self I still suspect it’s bad like something else is not working the car idles but it’s supper low.
Before you spend so much time on the computer stuff check all your basics first make sure you have spark, fuel, and power.
Good luck man let me know if you figure it out!!
