Three major brands have recently found themselves in controversy over the products they have been selling. A report found that Nestle has been adding sugar to its products for babies - and following a double standard because no sugar was found in the same products sold in Western countries like the UK. On the other hand, Hong Kong and Singapore have withdrawn spices from two Indian brands- MDH and EVEREST - because a pesticide called ethylene oxide was found in them. Why are these companies able to do things like this? More importantly, why are the Indian food regulatory authorities not able to spot this? Also, why do customers fall into the trap of buying such products? This video tries to answer these pressing questions.

I feel that, in this scenario, we Indians must also take some responsibility because we prioritize taste over health. However, the reality is evident during my four years in Europe: while the food here lacks the vibrant taste of India, the strict food laws enforced by European associations ensure there's no adulteration. Unlike FSSAI, which seems ineffective, European food associations handle this impeccably. It's time for us to shift our focus from taste to health and prioritize accordingly.
We Indians always give so much merit to taste. We laugh at boring bland western food. In india it’s considered absolutely normal to add salt and sugar to children’s food to encourage them to eat more.

When my son was 6 months old a good neighbor of mine from Tamil Nadu advised me to use homemade protein powder made with dry fruits like almond, khajur powder she ever shared the recipe. My mom gave me homemade powder of Moong daal and rice, ragi flour etc which helped me a lot. I am so blessed to be surrounded by such caring and helping mothers. To raise a healthy generation we need to pass on this knowledge to new mothers they are so confused as to what to do so they turn towards these harmful baby products once the baby is addicted to sugar it is so difficult to get your baby out of it.
Mam what you had said is 100% truth even though the ingredients which u mentioned above contains less sweet for that if we add little jaggery it would be delicious and nutritious food..government should spread this awarness and ban those products and these type of products should be released in Indian market to....

Indian food manufacturers only manipulate us. The MRP is printed in a a very dodgy way so the customer is looking all around the packet. Nutrients are also printed in a very conspicuous way.
yeah i also have noted also they use different mrps for similar things like for example 60g of chips in local shop is 20 rs and that same chips in mall or supermarket is 55g but is sold at 30 rs what a loot!!!

Back in early 2000s My doctor would become Hulk at the mention of the word cerlac and rightly so
sattu is really underrated, like recently i know people are into fitness stuff so they got to know about sattu because of the trend
my mom always makes sattu at home from almost 20+ years and yet some recently enlightened guys were teaching me about sattu and that too the packed ones at grocery stores (that is bad for health as well)
A lot of old Indian ingredients and recipes are now being "rediscovered" by the international fitness community. Just look up American gymbros talking about Ashwagandha as a stress-reducing agent.

You are forgetting that cows outside India are fed blood meal, which is basically powdered form of their own dry blood obtained while mechanically slaughtering them during beef processing, thereby contributing to increased milk output per capita. And mozzarella cheese is made by curdling milk with rennet, an enzyme obtained from the stomachs of calves by slaughtering them. So no wonder India can't afford 100% mozzarella cheese.

I am currently an indian student studying in italy…..when i initially came here, i wondered that why no one is obese here even though they eat pizza and pasta almost everyday….something that is regarded as junk food in india is consumed here everyday….but within a week i came to know the difference…..here even in packaged food , they have such good quality food……pasta are made of semolina and pizzas are made with fresh sauce, fresh cheese and olive oil as compared with the pizza made in india which contains processed cheese, processed sauce and what not……here the fruits are so fresh and good, but in india half or even more of them are made of pesticide and artificial colours…. i really feel bad cuz when i see videos showing the quality of food sold in india, i fear that my parents are consuming that food….and thinking about your parents getting sick is the biggest fear for someone staying abroad…..ik that many people will write take your parents with you or come back to india and blah blah and non sense stupid replies…but the fact wont change… u. may not accept it now..but sooner you will gave to accept and stand against these qualities of food sold in india…

The most disturbing thing is that the companies which manufacture genuine or good products list their products price in very premium category as if health is a luxury. You can take an example of "kasutam ghee", it's pure but it cost so much that you can actually make ghee from milk in much cheaper cost.

@@pikachuthunderbolt3919 yes indeed all these different sorts of these masalas i saw in mall i use to laugh them off like cmo'n people can't be this busy now that they et something which is just a mixture of spices , lol . i still purchase the coriander , haldi and laal mirch and make them powder using chakki , trust me the smell is so good , all these packets with the mixture of this ethyl gas has no tastes whatsover .

Even I found the difference in the Jonson powder which I bought from India is more coarse than Jonson powder which I buy from Europe. I used to tell my cousin to avoid cerelac to her baby, but some random doctor(yes MBBS) told her "if you can afford it, then feed it"
My baby was 3 years ago, when he was 7 months i fed her only 2 times cerelac & he started fever and vometing . then I stopped giving him cerelac & give him home cook food,&bileve me now he doesn't like any kind of add sugar in his food,so thankyou for your information ❤❤

As a food technology student i feel ashamed of the current scenario but there are upcoming company's who are some way better then what we use now.
Our degree teaches us about producing food which has good shelf life and enhanced nutrition and meeting the demands of the growing population.
But the market is very much corrupt even if big brands are caught they just say that so and so happened in that particular batch or we will look into that matter.
Its now burden upon common people to do so much of research which we dont know are authentic or not.
Also or as a student who have studied the process, the companies need to have a price to reach the mass and it should not be a reason to compromise on health but when regulation department itself has allowed then we cant blame the companies.
The only rule when u have processed food yo follow is:
Anything in excess is poison !

The trend of making gravy punjabi curries is spreading like epidemic in india
People used to make sabji with laal mirch, coriander powder, haldi, kali mirch, clove, daal chini, ginger, garlic.
Thats how our food is made and even acc to ayurveda.
Stop this mad culture of using excessive masala powder like paav bhaji, chole masala.
Every curry tastes same due to these non sense ready made masala, nothing unique is left in each sabji then
And try to have light , less oily food at dinner before 8 pm.

Thats not the problem the problem is these masala and baby food companies using harmful contaminants and not getting caught by our local food regulatory body and even if they are they are caught they will bribe some official or give funds to some political party to avoid facing action. Foreign regulators in this matter are much more strict and companies fear these regulators thats why they don't sell such products in developed country. If we turn a blind eye and not demand govt authorities to set up strict regulatory agencies and take action against these companies then situation won't improve living traditional is not the solution
