I get so fucking mad when someone does an "exhaust video" and then either jams the fucking microphone up the tailpipe so all you hear is clipping and wind noise, or they play their idiotic shitty music really loud during the whole thing so you can only really just get a hint of what the exhaust actually sounds like.
It's amazing how much the video muffles the sound. I have the stock exhaust, and it is louder than I find comfortable (I'm old). I can only imagine how loud this MRD really is :D.
Great comparison video, man. So much better than most videos where all they do is rev it a few times with stock and then aftermarket exhaust, inside a garage. On a side note, the stock DRZ exhaust is embarrassingly wheezy. I went with the FMF Q4 myself, and it sounds great now. Though not as loud as the MRD. Plus along with jetting and a 3x3 airbox mod a good exhaust just sets the engine free.

Dude thanks for the vid! I have the same year model and it makes the bike seem a whole lot meaner. Every other video i watched you can hardly tell the difference between stock and mrd.

Just bought a 2015 drz400sm and I'm waiting for my Mrd to ship, bike sounds so weak with the stock exhaust, I've heard the Mrd in person and it sounds awesome
Awesome sound, from a scooter sound to a manly man sound. Out of all the other makes, I think MRD sounds the best. Now you have to keep extra alert for the police. Nice work on the video bro.

I just picked up a 17 drz400sm and ordered this pipe! I was curious if you were running any mods in this video or if your engine was stock with just the exhaust added on?
Seth Krezman this video all I had done was the exhaust. but I eventually did a JD jetting kit and a k&n high flow air filter with the 3 by 3 mod. definitely worth the investment of the other upgrades. it will run kind of rough and pop quite a bit with the mrd exhaust by itself. It sounds pretty cool for a while but it eventually does get annoying
Your exhaust is mounted wrong. The can is supposed to be on the outside of the frame mount, you have it on the inside. That's why it looks so far away from the inside of the rear fender flare.
great video. However the mrd is too loud imo. stock is way too quiet but i don't think mine is that quiet for some reason. I wonder what a perfect medium would be? yoshi?
Did you ever get the RS-2? I'm in the same boat. Looking at the Mrd standard w quiet insert vs the Rs-2 but not sure if the "quiet insert" lowers the db enough. Thanks
I have no idea if the length affect the sound from personal experience, but from what I've heard on forums the shorter MRD is a lot louder, but yes it is very short. I have had a bit of trouble with it cracking my license plate. But it sounds amazing
+deathstroke - I'm pretty much flat footed while sitting, you may be on your tippy toes, but I dont think it would be bad at all, ive seen much shoter guys riding
