Who is Image Comics' The Utopian? Powerful Perfectionist

- This video explores the abilities, powers, and origin of the Image Comics / Jupiter's Legacy character "The Utopian." From young man Sheldon Sampson losing everything in the stock market crash of 1929, having subsequent visions of a mysterious island that compelled him to journey with his brother Walter Sampson and several college friends to an obscure region of the Atlantic Ocean, leading them to an inter-dimensional doorway which led them to the supposed aliens that gave them amazing superpowers, becoming the extremely idealistic superhero known as The Utopian and leading the newly formed Union of Justice, marrying his teammate Grace aka Lady Liberty and having two super-powered children named Chloe and Brandon, to dissension between his own family as well as the second generation members of the Union of Justice leading to his brother Brainwave aka Walter Sampson and his son Brandon Sampson plotting his ultimate demise; Let's take a look at this well-intentioned yet strict Image Comics superhero, and the most powerful perfectionist to ever champion for the United States of America. This includes a short, canon character biography and my own opinionated "Sage Rating," which I use to give ratings of comic book and science fiction characters.

Think some of it is probably easier and cheaper to license because every image character is creator owned.

yeah I am glad the film industry is finally working on superheroes that are outside of Marvel and DC.
@@jonjonboi3701 image and dark horse comics we’re pretty much always hits when they made movies it wasn’t exactly superhero’s tho but I think the problem was they didn’t have a source like marvel and dc did as in Disney and Warner bros now that there with Amazon there getting noticed big time

while it remaked story a bit, it captured Jackie character. They were not afraid presenting that he is really flawed anti-hero to the point its hard to tell if he is not
protagonist villain.
@@jacek107ify I've only played the second game, but I agree. Although I would've loved if it continued with the Angelus story and maybe showed a bit of The Darkness dimension, a bit of a power struggle, maybe a Witchblade cameo
I just finished both games. That would be sick.
This is the second time I've watched this video after reading the comic. Looking back, I'm genuinely surprised it took that little for Brandon to consider murdering his father.

I love Jupiter's Legacy one of my favorites! But I'd rather they had more different powers, I mean most if the characters have the same powers only at different levels. But still dude thanks this gives a smile to my face. Hope you do SkyFox next.
I agree 100% in the comic a lot of them have flight and super strength to varying degrees as their base power and some other ability that only slightly separates them
I dunno. his 'son' seems more interesting......especially when you realize the 'rod' he has isnt Skyfox's but the other guy....i wanna know what that rod is
Maybe for this show a more in depth explanation on the heroes in general.....I mean do the 7 have similar powers and just excel in one more than others? How does it translate to the children, do they get all the powers too or is it a random degree?
How about the new generation in general? Not ALL of them are the kids of the 7......so where did they get THEIR powers? Like Mr. Time Slow
@@TheJacob232 from what I have seen, that is a show thing not comic. In the comics Skyforge made it from a flashlight to give his son a toy as he had no powers.
@@TheJacob232 I believe when the original 7 got their powers that big shockwave that happened afterwards somehow mutated the world and random people developed abilities as well. it would explain why theres so many random super villains and other super heros not from the 2nd generation

The fact that he had to be held back by an army of superhumans while on the ground so Brandon could kill him is impressive
and he was old too which makes it even more impressive

I binged the entirely first season and it was way better than I expected.
I had never heard of the story before last weekend
Jupiter’s Legacy and Jupiter’s Circle are both very cool and very intriguing comics. As always Sage does an excellent job breaking down the Utopian. I hope he covers the rest of the characters from Jupiter’s Legacy. With that being said, I know there’s been some hate over the Netflix show but after finishing the entire season I have to say that it was very entertaining and they did a good job transferring the storyline from the comics to live action. It wasn’t perfect by any means but after I learned that they lost their showrunner halfway through production, I thought they did the best with a shitty situation. I really enjoyed how they translated everyone’s costumes from the comics. There suits looked really cool and I thought all the actors looked like the characters they were portraying. Other than certain areas being a bit jarring, my main complaint with the show is that it lacked some action. Overall I still enjoyed it and I hope it gets renewed for a second season because I know they’ll bring there A-game the second time around.

My guy timely and relevant as ever 🤙🏼 honestly man, at this point I’d be interested in hearing a 30 sec-1min segment at the end of your videos that sums up your personal feelings on the character (if you have any). Just to give us an insight as to whether or not the character is interesting to you or if it’s one of your favs or if you don’t really like them and then how you feel they fit into their universe and maybe why you gave them the rating you did. Idk just think it would be cool to get a look at how you view these characters, why you picked them and if they made some kinda impact on you through your research 🤷🏻♂️

Again so fun, so informative are your video's; I was just looking at the suggestions that Netflix has for me and one of them is Jupiter's Legacy. I had heard of the character the Utopian before but for some reason I associated him with the golden age Justice Society of America comics; I'm looking and hoping to find the Jupiter's Legacy comics online and read them, you make them seem like they will be a good read; and of course also because of this excellent video I will be checking out the show as well. Fantastic, outstanding, fun, just great narration, video and content like always my brother New Sage; you also come through with the excellence. GOD is awesome, amazing, all things great and good, I am thankful that HE continues to bless you, me and all of our families with all of HIS blessings in the name of our Lord and savior JESUS CHRIST by the power of the HOLY SPIRIT. every time youngblood relaunch ended up cancelled and every time he wanted live action but rejected
he did had a youngblood animated series pilot as a demo intro but never made in final product
