Smoliv having bitter oil is probably a reference to how olives straight off the tree are unpalatable and have to go through a lot of processing before being edible.

“Actually dude, it’s salt.”

The chinise restaurant in the game has a dish that it literally says that it contains the toedscruel flaps, and the water gym leader restaurant sells a soup dish that says has a special ingridient and im pretty sure by the dish look its a full coocked wigglet
Honestly, I like what GameFreak is doing because if you think about it realistically then yeah people are going to eat pokemon. I mean how cool would having a meal plan in pokemon be:
Breakfast: Combee honey on toast with miltank milk (I love honey so much)
Dinner: Krabby soup (Proffessor Oak inspired me)
Snack: Oran berries (just snacking on them sounds nice)
Supper: Roasted slowpoke tails with spuds (If you can't afford the tail since they're expensive maybe I could try tauros steak)
Afternoon tea: Poke puffs ( The XY anime made me wanna have them so much)
Realism.
I believe that China will the next Pokemon game.
@@michaelsarmiento3057 good guess for the legendaries, however house painting and anphiteater with roman mosaic might hints at italy to be next
@@anthonyrebuffo9509what were his ideas for the legendaries?
I feel like the team at Game Freak were really, REALLY hungry while making the pokemon for this region
Spain and Portugal have pretty nice dishes so after researching they had to have been hungry lol
That would be me submitting my design while I’ve just had my lunch break on my mind.
Maybe it’s a hiddenmessage for help?
@@lysfranc8782 problebly cause a major plot line of the game involves making food

The Water Gym Leader literally confirms everyone eats Pokémon in his battle dialogue. Finally, we can stop the debate.
The lore we needed.
Still cursed.
@@wolfofsummerbreeze Nah, man, it’s the circle of life. Only vegans should find it cursed. Pokémon are the equivalent of animals, monsters, and plants. They are sustenance in every category.
@@braydenleaderofthetirkins1143 ... My dude, meowth can talk and it's implied that, unlike animals, all pokemon have similar levels of sapience. Sure, animals are sentient, but are they sapient? Pokemon are pretty much confirmed to be, with meowth and Mr. Fuji able to translate their words to human speech canonically. Also people used to marry pokemon, so like...
Just all around the animal to pokemon comparison doesn't work. On multiple levels.
That said, it seems that it's more likely that when humans do eat pokemon it's not that they are killed off for consumption, but that parts that can regrow are removed. More like eating a persons hair (not recommend) than their flesh.
@@wolfofsummerbreeze First of all, the anime isn’t canon to the games, so I don’t know how far we can go with that particularly. But regarding sapience, just eat the Pokémon that are just animals like the fish or the more bird-shaped, bird-witted birds. There are 3 types of Pokémon: human-like and animal-like and monster-like. Pidove so a perfect example, the Pokédex confirms that it has the intelligence of a real pigeon compared to most other birds compared to something like Corvisquire.
It feels as if in the world of Pokemon, none dies for meal, and their "conveniently" shed the food off themselves.
Some pokemon are killed for food like Farfetch'd and Basculin
i think they wanted to avoid scarring any children lol
**Laughs in Gen 1**
@@nebisafx5274 It regrows and slowpokes don't care if it gets removed.
When I first defeated a veluza it was haunting to read I had acquired "veluza filets". Thank god this video explains it's regenerable (like a lizards tail) so I don't feel *too* bad for shiny hunting it
It's my favorite new Pokémon this generation, but only barely. I love the body horror aspect of it, as it fillets itself.
It seems to be inspired by ikizukuri, a practice in which a living fish (or other animal, like octopus) is filleted while still alive. It dies during the process, but the vestigial twitching from the firing of the nerves makes it seem like it's still alive.
Veluza takes that process to the extreme, using psychokinetic power to fillet itself so it can be faster to chase down its prey.
I jumped on water to cross an island and got chased by a shiny Veluza
@@mitazil it’s all fun and games until the shiny hunts YOU
@@TornaitSuperBird No no no, the point of ikizukuri is to serve you the fish while it's still alive.

That Klawf meal looks so good, man. Crab meat is already good on its own.
Remember, in the movie Land of the Lost, where the group got attacked by a giant crab and it fell into a geyser and was instantly cooked, and afterwards they had giant crab legs with butter.
I'd imagine it'd be something like that.
Oh my gosh yes! 😂instantly when I saw titan Klawf I thought I thought of that scene !
Then my stomach rumbled and a second thought interrupted;
Now for some butter 🧈! 🤤
Our boy the Salt lad also has the move "Salt Cure" (which literally cures enemy pokemon and not in the healing way)
Which means it can cure meat for people!
Veluza tacos with scovillain salsa verde? We just need to confirm the existence of corn in pokemon for superior tortillas 🤤
I'm pretty sure most fruit and veg exist, tbh i wanna try the potato mochi from Legends:Arceus
You can buy tortilla in the game, so yes.
Yeah why there still no potato or corn pokemon 🤣🤣🤣 Come Gamefreak, do more vegetable pokemon 🤣🤣🤣
@@runedoom that's a spanish tortilla (basically an omelette) not a mexican tortilla.
legends arceus iirc has literal corn like the real plant so hey! :)
Toedscool and Toedscruel have the funniest walking animations I've ever seen.
I once ate that Klawf soup thing with a Klawf in my team. His moves have been missing more often. Ya'll think its intentional?
Your Klawf is traumatised
Yes, EQ
I love how they make it family friendly by saying replenish and grow back instead of like you know 😅
instead of eating an entire magikarp
Love how it went from being a big deal that slowpoke tails were harvested by team rocket but also farfetch'd was eaten, to eating smoke poke tail and they just grow back, and finally to, yes eat all the Pokemon yum.
Well... Most don't badger people for eating beef, pork, and poultry unless you're for animal rights. But we do badger people for eating animals dolphins and sharks.
It's not entirely unprecedented for slowpoke tails to be a regulated good in an effort to prevent the suffering of pokemon.
Also because gen 1 used to treat pokemon as a separate branch of animals instead of being the only animals (watch the DYKG original pokedex video, where they translated official material released back in gen 1's glory days, essentially it presented the idea that pokemon evolved as a branch of regular animals)
Which explains why the gen 1 anime depicted regular animals... :o
Just wanted to gush about this, I do agree it's cool that they've gone this far
A wild Slowpoke needs its tail to fish, so Team Rocket harvesting tails from wild Slowpoke would cause them to starve.
The Toedscool/Toedscruel line brings the Wood Ear Mushroom to mind. As already mentioned in the comment section, it is more of a texture food due to its mild flavor.
In my country, wood ear mushrooms are often used in Stir-Fry Noodle dishes where their texture goes well with the other vegetables (usually carrots and string beans) and the chewy noodles. Adds a bit of crunch to the dish.
Shoutout to Dondozo who has a move called “Order Up” where it just creates a sushi platter OUT OF THIN AIR! If I could have any water type, I’m picking Dondozo.
Vaporeon though uwu. The "fun" is worth the not having of sushi
It is really the first Pokémon game that doubles down with lots of Pokémon being food
Still they have to make everything shed naturally, Like if kids have no idea where meat comes from. I miss the days when the pokedex talked about lapras and farfeched being hunted to near extinction
@@DanielPereira-ey9nt yeah ghost pokemon never stopped with that more serious dex entries, but stuff like eating karpador and flegmon tails kinda disappeared and everyone was suddenly vegan.
Nice to see Paldea has a sizable roster of tasty Pokemon! I think I'd mostly enjoy some Klawf stew out of all these.
Woodear mushroom is more of a texture food to me. It's used as an ingredient for lots of dishes, the flavor is quite mild and has a snappy bite to it when eaten.
What would you have for dessert tho? 🤣🤣
Always made with marinated chicken and other mushroom.
@@Ditto.007 cinnamon Dachsbun! 😋
@@spiritedchung5926 in my background, we make stir fry chicken with woodear mushrooms. It's also used in soup too, and makes a great topping on ramen 🍜
Not the biggest fan of fish, but if you had fish that just more or less gives you meat and it's not painful, then fried fish wouldn't be the worst thing. Sometimes fried catfish or walleye is pretty good.
lechonk. how else do we get ham for those sandwiches?
I’m suspect about the Ham. 🤨
Im seriously loving these new designs especially the mushroom squids
I was low-key terrified when I first saw one scuttling about. It ended up being a zoroa though lol.
I cannot stop laughing at toedscool running beacause it looks like a crewmate
@@bromicorn Lmao
There needs to be a side quest where some psychopath opens a restaurant and sell fucked up stuff like Slowpoke tail and Poliwhirl legs
It’s interesting how gamefreak dealt with the whole eating pokemon stuff, many Pokémon have regenerative abilities or produce ingredients through other means
Capsikid teeth are probably just pepper seeds
That is what it looks like, especially with Scovillain, but still 🤢
@@GatorEX mmm crunchy 🥴
A Pokemon is your friend till the hunger comes...
It’s genuinely pretty neat that this gen went out of its way to introduce so many edible Pokemon/Pokemon specifically involved in food production. It does feel a little like a response to how fans have been asking “do people eat X Pokemon? Does this food come from Y Pokemon?” etc. since the series has existed, and that kind of thing can come off as forced, but I don’t think it does here - Pokémon always introduces quirky new things to its lore and more Pokémon that can explicitly be safely eaten just feel like a natural part of that.
It's also mentioned that Clauncher claws are tasty in the anime
Nacli, Naclistack and Garganacl all have NaCl in its name which is the chemical formula for salt. Cool detail :D
3:30 Haven't heard this BANGER track in a very long time, I wish it was a full song, it's such a good encounter theme and there's no good reason why they kept it that short
I was reminded of it trying to find music for this, but glad I remembered it!
The teeth from Capsakid it’s literally meant to be a clove of garlic
To answer your question,I think I would have a Daschbun and Fidough. For obvious reasons:
1) I tend to make alot of sandwhiches at home,so having both around to save alot of money on bread helps.
2) Both are cute, fluffy doggos. I swear I cant help it,but I just want to grab one and cuddle it and play fetch with it! Such smol good bois! 💕
YES FINALLY ANOTHER DACHSBUN AND FIDOUGH LOVER
I wonder if the lil sushi mon is edible
Probably
You forgot lechonk, cause ham is a sandwich ingredient
Mostly stuck to the Pokédex and Lechonk doesn’t have any details, but I’m very suspicious there’s ham when we have a pig Pokémon running around. Very likely. 🤔
@@GatorEX Grumpig and Spoink are also in the game, too.

So many delicious Pokemon in Paldea. Fitting for a Mediterranean region!
@kuro saigatsu We don't really eat any of them other than the Tentacool variants (THEY CAN ALL DIE!!!) and Klawf kinda.
@kuro saigatsu meanwhile, the Veluza that is still fine and dandy even after shedding basically it’s entire body in flesh:
You forgot lechonk ham
I don't know why but Garganacl being a walking giant salt lick is kinda funny to me
The fact that you can make ham sandwiches means that Le Chonk is likely on the chopping block as well
Funny monsters
Farfetch'd Pokedex entry before was it was supposed to be a delicacy and the leek its holding adds taste to the meat.
You forgot lechonk. The dex says it's meat is juicy and marbled
happy belated thanksgiving! i love these dex entries that describe people and pokemon working together beyond just battling, its really great world building. though something about toedscools food being called “flaps” isnt very appetizing…
It’s so interesting that they made Pokémon being raised as a food source, it was a huge debate for decades and they finally came out and said “you can eat Pokémon meat without killing the Pokémon”
How to solve starvation:
1. Get a Veluza
2. Get a Ditto
3. Put them in a daycare
4. Breed them
5. Hatch eggs
6. Have the Veluzas remove their unnecessary flesh
7. Donate the food
Even with all of these, Lechonk is still the most delicious looking.
I love toedscools derpy run animation
Sprinkling salt on injured Pokemon... Yeah, to make 'em edible.
Another tidbit you missed is that apparently people gather and eat Wattrel nests (clearly a reference to things like birds nest soup)
You could also eat pokemon in Sword and shield. In the last 2 games you can eat pokemon. Tho in Scarlet&Violet you can get small eggs which confuses me, as normal pokemon eggs usually pretty big. Egg curries eggs were huge and we have seen them in the anime.
Brooooo im hungry again man. I would love some Klawf soup
to elaborate on naclis name pun, the i at the end of nacli could stand for iodine, which is commomly added to table salt
veluza moment
jumpscare
@@GatorEX Vaultin' veluza!
This makes me think of the Slayers Movie where they made peace with the sentient Octopus by just cutting their tentacles off instead of killing them. And the Octopus were waiters serving themselves at the end.
I do wonder where the shrimp and mussels come from cause I don't remember those being pokemon
isnt clauncher like a pistol shrimp? and mussels would be clampearl, shellder or cloister
3:21
Ever heard of goats climbing Dam to lick off salt?
Some species need minerals in their diet.
Capsakid's teeth could be similar to how the seeds and the white part of peppers are the spiciest parts..
3:36-3:37
This got me ROFLing, why is no one talking about this?!
Since anything and everything is now a Pokémon there has to be a restaurant that serves Pokémon featured meals. Tauros burgers, moomoo platters
I just picture Veluza shedding its skin similar to a lizard or snake. It’s probably just like a membrane the scales are attached to and so as it grows it sheds the old dirty outer membrane with new healthy skin underneath. It’s not too screwed up when you think about it.
It’s Pokédex entry literally says that the flesh it discards has a mild but delicious flavor
smoliv oil, veluza fillet, bit of naclstack salt, herba mystica as well and you have a perfect dish imo, maybe with a hit of the scovillian sauce
The salt transition video was perfect 👌🏼
It probably wouldnt be too bad if the pokemon werent so self aware and concious in the anime
Don't forget about Lechonk and Oinkolonge! These meats can turn into a ham.
3:23 I put the new forgis on the jeep
Wood ear mushrooms are delicious! it's more of a texture experience, it's got a nice crunch and takes on the flavor of whatever you season it with while having a very mild mushroom flavor
2:52
I had to pause right on this one. That has to be the most metal, Pokemon friendly way of saying it consume the flesh of thy enemies.
No one:
Gator: "Daksbun"
The end XD
You probably have had wood ear fungus and not known it. That's the black strips in hot and sour soup!
You simply could not dissuade me from taking a bite out of that bread dog.
I literally got an existential crisis from seeing the pickled toadscool
FYI: Pretty sure the smoked filet is Slowpoke Tail. We used that as an ingredient in curry in SwSh.
"Pokemon you're my best friend"
I'd love to try klawf claw ngl
I knew that crab looked tasty the first time I lay eyes on it.
The pincers of Crabominable and Crabrawler are also a popular dish. They conveniently grow back as well.
I thought toadscool was a retextured shiny tentacool when I first saw it. Surprised it was a separate pokemon
I love running tentacool so much
Dude WHERE IS MY lechonk? Lol, that ham on my sandwich is definitely from him lol
Now you’re making me want a Pokémon farming sim. I mean, why not? Think harvest moon or song of seasons with a Pokémon twist.
2:31 thanks, Kira!
That dog is very biteable.
Not a sentence I ever thought I'd utter.
Yes, Veluza can eat because the fish called Hake can eaten.
surprised you didnt mention lechonk or oinkologne knowing bacon and ham are in the game, also most of these pokemon's food are things they can offer themselves without murder
I remember a chef trying to buy psyduck to cook it
3:15
If you sprinkle salt on a wound, it hurts like hell.
Wait we can just give every poor person a veluza and end world hunger
The pork base meat definitely comes from Oinkologne and specifically Females because in agriculture females are the good choice for meat. Even the color of the flesh has a resemblance to the female version of the Pokémon.
3:34 - "That's a pe--!"
Dude I'd love to make chocolate chip cookies with dolliv oil and moomoo milk :3
Hahah I like the Nacl pun in the names
Eatin' good in the neighborhood.
5:10 I feel like it's teeth are more like pepper seeds than actual teeth.
pokedex entry said that scovillain uses the spicy chemicals for its fire. assuming those same unfired spicy chemicals are used for the sauce then its worse than the capsakid teeth because that's straight up spit. at least you can wash capsakid teeth.
Nooo Dachsbun!! Mi poor dog.
Just you wait until there will a Pokémon video game set in Italy.
The pokedex also says that Wattrel is a delicacy
There's also a sandwich ingredient called Klawf Sticks so they really like crab meat, I guess.
Wonder if the rock typing gives it an earthy taste.
it gets weirder, because the description of the sticks say they're made from processed klawf shells instead of their meat
I bet Paldea is known as the food region.
Oh god, I remember watching an animation where Chikorita was prepared as a delicacy. Utterly morbid and fascinating that thing was
What the actual shit. Whoever made that and whoever enjoys watching that is probably some psychopath rotting in jail now for committing various horrid acts
Me telling my friend for years you can eat a Vanille, him: people don't eat pokemon your weird!
Me: now who's weird
