Exploring The SS Cotopaxi Shipwreck 100 Years Later with Sharks And Massive Fish

- We recently explored the ship wreckage of the infamous Cotopaxi with a team of scuba divers and underwater camera equipment. The ship and its crew disappeared in 1925 and just recently, almost 100 years later, a pile of wreckage off the coast of St. Augustine was identified as the Cotopaxi by Michael Barnette. Prior to his discovery there were rumors of the ship being lost to the Bermuda Triangle. See more about his discovery here / @aocfishman00
The goal was to scout out the shipwreck site to become more familiar with its layout and to capture some pictures and video of the wreackage. The imagery captured via this dive trip would help us prepare for a future underwater expedition to thoroughly film the sunken ship.
The dive was spectacular, in addition to locating the identifiable parts of the ship we encountered an assortment of underwater wildlife including giant Goliath grouper and sharks. The were so many of the large fish we are wonderin gif the wreck has become a Goliath grouper spawning area. Sea conditions and visibility were also good for underwater water camera work and video capture. We used one of our professional underwater camera rigs as well as a GoPro camera for the underwater shoot.
A big thanks to Harold Conger, Ed Kalakauskis, Larry Davis, and Nate Tucei for their help with the Cotopaxi shipwreck dive investigation.
Great video and pictures! Vis looks awesome. Thanks for sharing
Thanks Glen, there were giant grouper and big sharks surrounding us while we were scuba diving the sunken ship.
Wow, this is very interesting! Thank you for sharing this and for all the effort put into it.
Glad it was helpful! Thank you for the kind comment of appreciation.
Amazing video! 👏🏼👏🏼
Thank you kindly! It was an awesome scuba diving experience for us to explore such an old sunken shipwreck while being surrounded with large fish like Goliath Grouper and sharks.
I think this is awesome! Thank you for sharing this discovery. :)
Thanks for the comment and watching the lost ship video. Keep exploring!
@@UWPICVID I’m actually playing a game called Stranded Deep right now and in the process of exploring shipwrecks and islands. I would love to have your courage though and do it for real.
@@auttytabor6496 there are so many things yet to be explored! happy hunting!
i love you 🥲🤎
Ждём новых видео и уроков!
THIS is the Cotopaxi relict ?? are you sure ??
The archaeological organization LAMP believes so
I was wondering the same thing. Other accounts state the Cuban Coast Guard found the ship rusted and abandoned, but still in tact and floating?
The cotopaxi was 253' ( 77meters approximately )
Thanks for sharing
How do you know this is the Cotopaxi?
The LAMP organization recently determined the wreck to be the Cotopaxi using the investigation findings of Michael C. Barnette @aocfishman00 . See the link in the video description for more information regarding the Cotopaxi wreck investigation.
Matthew is only saying that because he wants that infamously fake clickbait story about the Cotopaxi reappearing on the surface of the water 90 years later to be true
@@jr28778 nah wreck of ss cotopaxi 95 year captain gone in ship sink
*BS* The Cotopaxi was found in the Gobi Desert in 1977.
Thanks for the tip, they should show that in a movie. haha
Are you going to give information about the ship which is why you’re there instead of chatting about the bloody wildlife
This was a scouting trip see @aocfishman00 video for more info regarding the wreck site history here ua-cam.com/video/uXnGROAng5k/v-deo.html
The SS Cotopaxi went missing in 1925, while traveling from Charleston, South Carolina, to Havana. How the fuck can this be 100 years later???? It makes no sense whatsoever!!!! 😐😐😐😐
Rounded up as it will be 100 years in 2025. Figured close enough for general descriptive purposes.
That's not cotopaxi she was found beached with her name barley visible
Regional archeologist have expressed their confidence of this wreck being the remains of the Cotopaxi.
Not the cotopaxi
Mind if I ask why you think this wreck is not the remains of the lost ship Cotopaxi?
