I love my 2006 3.0R Outback. I too would say the brakes are a little woolly compared to other cars I have owned. This does have an advantage off road and on snow and ice where the initial braking faze is gentle and predictable. It is a great all round, solid, fast good looking machine.

As a brand Subaru is one of the the safest in brands of car on the market. The outback has more to offer than the base models of some other brands There a lot of the older outback’s still on the road today because of their dependability.

You can replace the brake pads with sintered pads. I'm not sure what that does for a car, but they really improve a motorcycle's brake performance.

0-60 in 6.8 seconds with the 2.5 Liter turbocharged Boxer engine and 5 speed automatic transmission? That's faster than the 2015 Outback with the 3.6 Liter H-6 engine and CVT. Sadly Subaru didn't put the 2.0 Liter turbocharged engine with both the Legacy and Outback, which could have been better options.

@@homeimprovementsubaruguy2556 Exactly. But us market is to blame on top of emissions :/. Its even worse with their offering here in europe. Here is more of how nieche subaru were and didnt get success they were looking for after investing heavily in late 2000s. We used to get Legacy H6 with 6speed manuals and they made diesel boxer specificly for europe, but they messed up with its reliability early on and sales dropped. Now its just CVT hellscape all around we didnt even get previous base WRX, and STi was only.on sale for 2 years. Crosstrek didnt get 6mt get here even tho first get had 6mt(when usdm model got 5mt). Levorg was CVT only, outbacks and foresters too. BRZ isnt offered...they dont sell a single mt car on the continent where all people know how to drive stick and majority does drive stick...

Ga L I’ve been watching closely any reports of engine problems including excess oil consumption on the new 2.4L DIT and I haven’t yet seen anything of consequence. Some failures of the “high torque” CVT transmissions (Ascent models, no Outback models that I am aware of) but even those seem to be some early build runs that have since been corrected/ upgraded to a certain degree.

4:05 complete bs as mid 1990s interiors still look new on almost all cars on the road today in 2019; Everysingle one of these mid 2000s has a cracking dash and seats are all torn up. Water is leaking in every single one that I have seen with a sunroof. They used cheaper labor to build them cheaper parts. They used glue instead of screws to hold interior panels. They used plastic instead of metal wherever they could. This is not even close to quality of earlier models. Toyotas are the same way. Newer cars are a lot more expensive all the while they are built using much cheaper methods and parts that will not last even 10 years of everyday abuse.
