  • Awhile ago, a fellow viewer commented on my Shorts video, requesting for an onboard video of a crane with the Mercedes OM502LA engine. So here is a comparison of 3 different engines of 3 different cranes. Let me know in the comments, which sound do you prefer!

Thanks for finally releasing the video 0:28😃. We are big fans of big engines and huge machinery. First time hearing the D936 LA. There is just something about induction system from Liebherr engines am souled out😂. In cab sound of MB 502 still sounds awesome too. Grew up in South Africa around the MERC V8 fitted in our version of the SK (in South Africa: Powerliner) due to embargo's( trade bans) we produced our own engines with licences from Mercedes Daimler. Saw the evolution from ADE 442 TI to its more equivalent OM 442 LA powering local made coaches/bus and Neoplan Skyliner Imports which later version git the OM 502 LA which were now common in the ACTROS. First time seeing LTM 500 8.1 was on a road trip with my dad it was love at first sight and sound.

You are awesome😎 0:28 Thank You, You finally made it and its a comparison. I love your videos and love heavy machinery with big powerful engines. The D936 engine is a smaller displacement but packs a lot of power from 6 cylinder. But there is just something about induction sounds of Liebherr engines. I grew up in South Africa with a lot MB OM442LA transitioning into the later common rail MB OM502LA in Merc Trucks and Import Neoplan coaches. The V8 sounds were intoxicating. But one fateful day on a road trip saw a Liebherr LTM 500 8.1 crane and boy is she big. Love at first sight and sound. Hence I am here.🙂

Indeed! The Merc V8 sounds really good. Personally i preferred the Merc V8 sound over Scania’s V8, trucks wise. Between Liebherr and Merc V8, the Merc has a roar to it, where as the Liebherr has a deeper note. Both are unique.
The D936 is very powerful for its size. Its also the secondary engine for the crane superstructure on the LTM1350 and LTM1500.
