The YOUNGTIMER (1970s-on) classic car show 2024 | Gawsworth Hall

- Two classic car events took place at Gawsworth Hall in Cheshire during May. The first was featured here on the Old Classic Car channel recently, this is the second, named "YOUNGTIMER" and concentrates mainly on cars of the 1970s through to the 1990s(ish), although there is some elasticity in this date range especially with cars displayed on club stands. It was a new event for us, so we were keen to find out what cars would turn up, and how it would differ to the other show just a few weeks previously.
A fine variety of classic cars of the 1970s and 1980s made the trip to Gawsworth Hall, as did an interesting assortment of "modern classics" and cars now considered as "future classics". As always, I try and feature a bit of everything in these videos while tending to prioritise the earlier cars in line with what the channel is about.
Favourites at Youngtimer 2024 included a two-stroke longnose SAAB 96, Dino (Ferrari) 246, Ford Sierra XR8, Mercedes-Benz 500E, Subaru SVX, BMW Z8, and a BMW/Alpina B7 Turbo based on the E28 5-series. The pickup conversions of a 6-series and a 3-series BMW were also quite memorable, and it was neat to see a Ford Model A of all things on a motor club stand. All in all, an enjoyable day out.
I'll include links to the previous Gawsworth Hall classic car show videos at the end of this one. Your thoughts welcomed in the comments section as always. Please give the video a Like if it was of interest, and think about subscribing (no cost involved) if you'd like to catch future uploads here on Old Classic Car.

What a beautiful venue for car/bike show. Some very interesting vehicles on display.
It certainly is, we get to some fine locations when visiting shows etc
thank you with best wishes
The Ford Sierra XR6 (Essex 3.0 V6) version of the Sierra was a popular car in South Africa.
Great show. The Escort RS1800 you saw is a very rare car. It's generally known that only a 109 examples were built with very few being "Custom" models (nicer trim).
Lovely interesting video ,thanks for sharing 👍.
Glad you enjoyed it
I enjoyed that Mr.OCC! Love your car show videos.👍😁🚗
Thanks JJ!
I have in my Classic Garage a Jaguar xjs pre-HE from 1977 , a Maserati Biturbo from 1985 and a BMW e46 Touring 330xd from 2001. All of These are great cars😊
👍👍👍👍👍
Always appreciate your videos but recently very much appreciated your commentary in the 1982 World Cup game, Brazil v USSR. Moonlighting were ya!!!
Ha I think my voice would have been a bit different in 1982!!!
70s-90s now you're talking 👍👍👍
Cool car overload, too many to mention...
:-)
Half on the look out for something from the 80's to join the fleet, to fit in the middle of our 90's eunos & 70's Rover - so this video was right up my street 👍
Thanks again for the excellent coverage and commentary. I would have the Escort "E" in a minute. What a survivor. Kind of a mini-Capri of the same vintage. I just got back from a Cars and Caffeine gathering with a few Ferraris so the Dino doesn't tempt me as much....at this moment!
These smaller events really need to up their game in terms of advertising their events. This would have been ideal for my vehicle but your video is the first I have heard of it
Yep some are more publicised than others true
Hi 👋 Me again. Sometimes i view your videos twice. I enjoy them tat much. Not only because of the cars, but the wonderful builgings in the background. The Tudor style one there is very nice. I woul love to visit there and walk around looking at them. From Carl in NZ
Thanks, I try and feature the locations in these videos as they're often very impressive in their own right
@@oldclassiccarUK Yes , we don't have these stately homes and buildings here in NZ. Certainly nothing as grand .
@oldclassiccarUK Sorry about my spelling mistakes. I noticed there were a few. I get tired and I forget to check my messages.
Great show, and a great review. Thanks Bob (Lovely Ferrari Dino, but also love the Triumph Stag's)
The xj6 with the unusual brown colour is coming up with no such number on the mot cheak, has he got false plates on
They could be show plates, just put over - or instead of - the proper plates for the event
Your knowledge of cars is amazing
Great cars on show and a nice clips of them
Glad you think so!
I met some friends from our car club yesterday morning and we took ourselves on a drive up the A686 and Hartside Pass where the cafe used to stand. There must have been a Ford Escort Rally taking place and there was literally dozens and dozens of Ford mainly Escorts taking part I would say at a rough guess over 100 at least. I have sent you some impromptu photos which are not he best I should add. I understand that planning permission has been granted to build a replacement cafe for the one that burned down a few years ago and is much lamented.
When last year but couldn't make it this year so thanks for making this video so I can see what I missed out on.
Cool show.
Gotta love the BMW pickup/Ute. Definitely unusual.
Those Suzuki Vitaras were also badged as the Geo Tracker, and later [ when GM dropped the Geo brand], they were sold as the Chevrolet Tracker. At the Suzuki dealerships they were called the TRACKER.
📻🙂
Good stuff, the BMW 6-series pickup appeared at another show recently also
Hi 👋 Richard. A question , how did you know that the white Ford Sierra is South African ?. The Morgan's are cool.
The XR8 was a S.Africa only model iirc
@oldclassiccarUK Thank you. The Ford Sierra Estate sold well here in New Zealand I worked for a company in the late 1980s / early 1990s and the representatives for the company drove them. They all were in white.
Good evening Richard & Co. That Dino was exquisite and that "e" type was a very early series 1.5 , in fact the afficinado 's call this the series 1 .25 as the only clue being the"rocker" switches . That "Bond Z8 (?) is extremely rare . Thankyou gentlemen .Ooops ! Nearly forgot . I carried out a major body repair on a SVX way back in the 1990's
I had to create the Pearl White colour myself as no one could supply it . The engine was a 3litre flat 6 and it was a fabulous car to drive . Cheers !
No cost of living crises there lol 😳
I see where you're coming from, although I bet quite a few owners of nice cars have scrimped and saved elsewhere in order to buy them. Even a new Ford Focus can cost north of £34k nowadays and no-one would bat an eyelid at someone driving one of those. Same for cars like the Hyundai Ioniq 5 for example (nudging £60k in some cases, that'd buy a very nice older car).
@@oldclassiccarUK And then of course there is the insurance............
A few years ago, a magazine printed a 1970s press release from Lotus cars stating that the plural of Lotus is Lotus not Loti or Lotuseseseses
Ah I see, useful info!
The Subaru SVX is quite simply the most stunning looking Japanese car ever made. Why it had an extremely limited production run is beyond me along with that flat six engine that could have powered a mid engine competitor tp tthe Porsche 911.
