It's a weapon. As soon as a weapon, multiple attackers, or family gets involved, it's a life or death situation.
At that point, running is still the best option, but if you don't have that option, you have to use your training to end the encounter ASAP, and find an opportunity to run. If you still cannot run, you're gonna have to try something else.
Some people use intimidation. Some just start breaking things. Some will just straight up kill people, but that's such a last resort, you have to be stuck with a bunch of people or in a no-win situation in order to justify it, but don't piss somebody off so much that it becomes your life or theirs. Usually, this can be avoided. You have to put Yourself in a life-threatening situation, most of the time.
Just get yourself out. Nobody has to get hurt.

I was once cursed out by this stupid dude, I wanted to hurt him but I remembered by boy calling me back to hug me one more time before leaving ( I was re-watching it on the door bell before this incident). Anyway, dude was squaring up and something in me just clicked off, unlike me and I walked away. I walked away and I felt peace like a rock was lifted off me. Now the bog one was some minutes later that dude came to me tears in his eyes and was apologizing profusely. He thanked me for being the better man and walking away, he told me he was not always confrontational like that, his gf who saw every thing was too shocked to even talk, she was just too shaken and crying. Dude was like he did not know what got into him, but it switched off same way it came on immediately I walked off. Sometimes, the devil be literally calling for blood to ruin lives and destroy families, just walk away.

This instructor is spot-on. I get so tired of these fighting videos that treat street encounters like they’re MMA bouts. MMA isn’t street fighting-out there, someone could pull a knife or gun and end things in an instant. Trying to prove you’re tough just isn’t worth it. I’ve seen too many videos showing the risks.

That man pretty much summed a lot of the legal reasons as to why people avoid fights in Taiwan. The fight may be fun but the legal ramifications aren’t worth it.
A Taiwanese WC instructor once explained to me that if you have a martial arts background and you send a person to the hospital, get ready to pay for their bills because you had the unfair advantage and still decided to put them in a position where they end up in the hospital. That really reworked my perspective coming back to the US and I wish more people saw it the same way.

Nah, you give the casuals what they paid for and build confidence first. After the first level test, though, you gotta remind em they've only been striking pads and grappling unarmed people. In a street fight, there's a really strong chance of a weapon, a second attacker, a much stronger attacker, a lucky shot that disrupts the rest of your fight, an object you trip on, etc.

This guy is actually legit. If the court finds out you've done karate/martial arts and you fought someone they charge you like a person who used a weapon.

That combat instructor was spitting facts. The more knowledgeable of martial arts and how fights escalate you are, the more aware you are as to the risks that come with engaging in one is. Even though I would throw hands in way more of those situations than him, I can't help but respect his reasoning as to why he'll avoid fighting.

he's so right. Know of a couple of scenarios that involve pride - they all don't end well.. people don't know there own strength and people don't know what other people are capable of. Sometime it isn't even violence. Some people will try to ruin your life because they think you slighted them... its ridiculous.

My right hand is permanently jacked up. The more you learn about striking the more you realize there is no safe way to strike. Knuckles are the most fragile bones in your body, palm strikes will jack your wrist up eventually..

@@PatienceKiss I was going to say that you could do palm strikes, but what you said should be considered. It is important to strike the right parts of the person’s body and to know how to grapple to some degree. Also, it would help to do wrist-strengthening exercises.

He's saying, he's not gonna risk his life over a petty conflict.
I pretty much agree with him. As much fun as a bar fight sounds, the risk of going to jail for manslaughter just isn't worth it.
If someone is being aggressive, then retreat from the situation is Victory.
Even if someone breaks into my home, getting my family to safety is Victory.
I train so if/when I HAVE to fight, I'll win.
I don't want to hurt anyone, so if I don't HAVE to fight, then I won't.
