Violet grew up in an Abusive household. She went on to find an abusive partner (Stevie). At 9 months pregnant, he essentially killed her, but her babies lived (Jenny and James/Screech). Because their mother was dead and their father was in prison for murder, they ended up in the system/foster care and never knew each (although they grew up around each other). At 14 years old, they meet one fateful night. Jenny is Silent and Scared like her mother Violet.....James/Screech is angry/abusive like his father Stevie. When Screech tries to Rob Jenny she freezes (Just like her mother) and this Angers Screech (Just like his father) and Screech KILLS Jenny.....History repeats itself, the cycle continues.
Ren is in need and deserving of your Thoughts, Prayers and Love right now. He's in Canada, getting treatment for his Lyme disease that went untreated for so long (it not only ravaged his body, but his brain as well). He's going to be in Canada for 6+/- months and undergo multiple surgeries to try and correct the damage. Ren is alone up there, going through all of this without the support of his friends or family. We can't lose him now, he's got so much more to give to the world.

In the context of jumping the queue for a council flat I suspect Stevie isn't the father, but a stevie-cum-lately who glommed onto a free house and considered the pregnancy by not himself to be the mark of a slut. James' father is probably the bastard, rather than the little prick.

The harsh reality is that most of these police brutality videos have no proof that they are racially motivated but they get locked behind bars for being racist anyway. This is the pattern recognition that I’ve realised with my own eyes watching all these type of videos so what does this mean exactly…this could mean one or the other…police officers are good at hiding it or black people overthink and overreact and always blame the white man and think racism is way bigger than it actually is. Also there’s loads of videos of police officers treating white peoples unfairly too but whenever it’s a black person we convince ourselves it’s just because of skin colour so does that make us the racists? Always quick to point fingers.
Through pain comes brilliance, that being said my thoughts are with him, it must be horrible and he is so open about it with us. He has had a few bad days lately

This trilogy is amazing. Unfortunately I've been Violet twice, but fortunately survived. I'm a survivor. Not a victim. I've learnt a lot about those with personality disorders. I now know all the red flags, and can spot abusers.
We were meant to tested and twisted, broken and beat. Never a truer word
I'd rather be alone than risk my personal happiness, health and safety again. I won't ever jump in blind again.

Ren was/is a busker. He carry that into performances. He loves doing these long live one take performances. So talented!
He bangs against the wall at the beginning, coughs, etc. ... it is clearly live.
Not surprised you didn't get the twist at the end, you spent a lot of time during Violet's Tale not watching the video.
They were all 3 victims as well, unfortunately of failed systems. Jenny turned out to be frozen like her mother and Screech was like his father even though they never even met. Could this also be generational cures? Such a sad story but can be related to today. Also most everyone can relate to any of this story whether directly or indirectly even if its justa small part of it. He has a way of painting a picture from many different perspectives of all the people involved in this story.
The story comes from the unique imagination of Ren❤Yes he wrote this himself and yes he is a poetic genius.❤

"It only gets better from here"... if only that were true in this case, Violet's Tale is the hardest for me to listen to. Especially considering that the epidemic of violence (I don't use terms like "evil") is what fed into Screech's behaviors, likely through an abusive or neglectful foster parent. The writing is too beautiful for this to be fully true, the actual crimes always seem uglier and more simple. Although, "Brenda's Got a Baby" by Tupac was true and told rather well. This seems more... imaginative.

There were 6 cities of Refuge in the Old Testament, for those who had committed a crime or killed someone (Accidental or on Purpose). They were safe as long as they remained in one of those cities. If they left the city, they were fair game for the family of the person killed to take vengeance on.

In Violet’s life, both parents and Stevie abused her in one way or another. Domestic violence needs to be avoided or the victims helped. Unfortunately it is way too prevalent.
Jenny and Screech were based off a news conference in which a police community liaison officer reported on the failed robbery and murder of a prostitute and the death of her 14 year old killer in a critical use of force incident. The phrase "it is such a shame" was used more than once, and inspired the first pair of songs to tell that story much more forcibly than the anodyne reporting in the media.
Violet's Tale was added several years later - as an invention to expand on the theme of generational deprivation and violence.
It is invention, but is based on things which do happen written for the tragic depth needed for the impact of the trilogy.
Adding the third tale makes Jenny a prostitute at 14, who started between 11 and 12 - walked these streets 'around a thousand times before'.
There is an instagram story by Ren which suggests that Babe and Patrick are together when she is at home and busy and he is not at no.54, and fills in what James had been up to immediately before coming on Jenny.
I don't think your faith changes my perception of your reactions. Super thoughtful responses to the art that is Ren.

The tales was based on a tiny article Ren read in the newspapper about the real jenny and screech. It was only a couple of paragraphs long right towards the back. So yes they were real people.
It is very live
This was, as usual, a very enjoyable reaction. This trilogy is another example of Ren's genius and a master's class in storytelling. It has been likened to a Shakespearean tragedy. Violet's tale takes place in 2005 ("two-zero-zero-five"). She was sexually abused by her father, and her mother was an alcoholic. Violet subsequently ended up in an abusive relationship with a boy named “Stevie” which resulted in her death. Jenny and Screech (James) are the twins born to Violet 14 years earlier, likely separated at birth by social services. Fourteen years later (2019, when the first two parts were released), they happen to run into each other, unaware that they are twin brother and sister. Screech tries to mug Jenny and ends up, unbeknownst to him, killing his twin sister. Screech flees and goes looking for his friend Patrick unsuccessfully, he tries to call his girlfriend to seek refuge, but she says no, before confronting and getting shot by police officer Richard one street over from where Jenny lies dead. Ren provided a backstory on the characters involved on Instagram, hinting that Patrick wasn't home because he was with Screech's girlfriend when Screech called her.
I would also recommend you check out Ren's collaborations with Chinchilla, "Chalk Outlines," "How to Be Me," and their busking sessions in Brighton. As for "Chalk Outlines," it is one of my favorite songs right now; it is beautiful, yet sad, and really showcases Ren's beautiful singing voice.

as for the story from what i hear is he took a story that he read in a news paper about a hooker getting murdered and then later that night the guy who did it got shot by police then he added his own twist to it and made up violets tale from what i heard
Not a true story> Did the reactor miss the point of Jenny And Screech being brother and sister and were the same people in the first two tales? Not very much empathy offered by the pastor. Very disappointing, but not surprising. Also sad that he spent more time preaching than he did talking about the video. And you wonder why people are turning against religion?

Immortal technique was dark and good story, but didn't like the delivery or his narrative attitude. Rens a different animal. Like what Bob Dylan was trying to do early on

Im an atheist but I appreciate the appeal of the themes he brought up repeatedly and deliberately in Hi Ren and this triology and it would be remiss not to make reference to it or interpret the performance without addressing it. So don’t feel like its out of step to consider it. Peace.

You should read the Bible passage to make sense of God’s original intent. You shouldn’t jump into conclusion. The killing was a type of sin, the cities were to represent Christ. When carefully studied the concept it’s a beautiful idea from God’s book.
