The video I’ve been waiting for!! Thank you for the step by step explanation with tips. Hand sewing is so meditative. Can’t wait to make one of these. Happy holidays!!
Another informative video. I like the idea of the net to add structure. Do you shrink your tweed fabrics (with natural fibres like Linton)? How would you shrink tweed? Does the tweed jacket shrink when dry cleaned after wearing? (I guess the silk is shrunk before cutting into). I would love to hear your thoughts and experience.
I have a recent video on tweeds and where to buy them. Good quality tweeds are washed at the mill after they are woven and are ready to use. The jacket is dry clean only once it's made.
Lovely and inspiring work. Do you use netting on ALL the pieces--was hard to tell in the video? Also, do you press the seams before you stitch them down?
Thanks! Yes, I use it on all the pieces, so the tweed doesn't sag. No, I don't iron it because it's basically plastic. When you hand stitch the seams, they lay flat. You can see it more clearly on some of my more recent Chanel jacket videos.
The backing fabric I use is like plastic, so you can't do either. You just have to fold it, pin it and then handmstitch the seam allowance down. It's more difficult but it gives a beautiful finish
This video is very inspiring, thanks.
Glad you enjoyed it! 🌸🥰🎨🎀🧥
I already know it’s going to be beautiful! All of your jackets are outstanding!❤️
Oh. Thank you! 🥰 🌸🧵🧥🌸🧚
I think I can watch you do a million of these jackets. I've been watching all of them and it's not getting old yet lol.
Aww, thank you! 🌸🧵🌷🥰🎨

Thank you for sharing your process. One question...do you iron or steam your seams?

Could use battery operated mini sewing machine, and zig zag seams before sewing.
Thanks.
