Me and 6 other members of my family all sat and watched Mr. Ballen for 2 hours together on Sunday. Thank you for bringing all of us together and keeping us present in the moment!
I live in Tennessee. I have visited the area and I did my senior paper in high school on the Bell Witch haunting. Thank you, Mr. Ballen, for covering a part of my state's historical folklore.
I love that he now has millions of subscribers. Mr Ballen randomly showed up in my feed one day (very early on in his on-line career). I loved his content so much that I was surprised that he did not have more subscribers/likes and made sure to always "like" his videos. I am very (very) pleased that he has succeeded to this extent. A job well done should be well appreciated.
Came here to say this. I have a game that I play when I watch called "name the jpeg" it's usually something like "haunted cabin in the woods.jpeg" lmao @mrballen love the videos and content man. Keep it coming.
I remember before he had even 500,000 subscribers and would do about 5 a week. He’s not changed too much. Still kept the fantastic storytelling. Years later we still sit here listening intently. Still can never find the secret!!
I'm too enchanted by the story to find the secret edit I remember 4vir 5 uploads a week too he got us hooked now we have to wait patiently for the strange dark and mysterious delivered in story format
I grew up less than 5 miles from the original Bell House, and it feels surreal to hear about our local legend. Any RobCo resident knows of the legend and all of the details involved, and there’s definitely no shortage of stories/experiences told. Regardless, there is definitely something strange that inhabits this area, always some unexplainable sounds, murmurs, figures going on in these woods, and only intensifies the closer you get to the Bell property. Younger generations think of it as a boogeyman story told to keep young kids close to home, but all of us around 30 and older know better, as our grandparents do not take it lightly AT ALL. Thank you for sharing this story, and all of the others!
damn so it is real. i mean the place is a little funky irl its not just a legend. this haunting along with Ed and Lorraine Warren are the sole reasons i believe in demons and fiends. scary world we live in.
@@getwhacked33 ed and lorraine warren were exposed more than once for fabricating their stories or at least highly embellishing. like the famous conjuring story for example, they had nothing to do with. after staying a couple days they apparently were making things worse and the family asked them to leave
My wife grew up in an old farm house that was haunted. One morning they were all downstairs in the kitchen eating breakfast and they heard someone stomping walking around upstairs except no one was upstairs. They all left and moved out that day.
Broooo, when he was talking about those scratches, i literally thought that somebody is scratching my bed. Yo, those sounds effects are something else man. He panels them good
Mine, too. I swear, it was no witch, it was aliens! It's so crazy what they can do with their technology, although the question remains, WHY they did it....
The fact Mr Ballen can take a story i've heard multiple times and retell it in a way that makes it sound like an entirely new story is a gift to this world.
I’m from TN and I’ve heard the bell witch story told by multiple people. I agree he is such a great story teller it was like I was hearing it for the first time.
Grew up in Nashville and the Bell Witch was a major part of my life there. Our next door neighbor was an old lady from Adams, TN where the haunting originated. She knew I was interested in ghosts so she gifted me an early copy of the book about the subject. The subject matter freaked out my Mom so she tried to return the book but my neighbor adamantly refused to take it back believing the book was cursed. As an adult, I worked on an opera at the Tennessee Performing Art Center which had three theaters named after the three US Presidents from Tennessee...Polk, Johnson and....Andrew Jackson. Strange events happened on opening night including an almost catastrophic failing that could have seriously harmed the first few rows of the theater. The flats representing the buildings surrounding the gates of Paris ripped all the support jacks out of place and the only thing keeping these 20-30 feet tall set pieces from falling into the audience was the night scrim that was a see through screen like material that gave the appearance of night to the scene. We quickly got everything right and held on to the support jacks for the rest of the performance. I looked at one of the permanent staff stagehand/carpenters as we held the jacks in place and he mouthed to me...Bell Witch. At the end of the performance I asked him what he meant. He asked me which theater we were in. It was the Andrew Jackson theater. He reminded me how the building of TPAC was plagued by freak accidents and deaths. I remembered reading or hearing about the storm that hit the construction and some of the accidents. He even said during the grand opening of the complex, a chandelier fell into the crowded lobby of the Andrew Jackson theater (I cannot verify this). Opening night in an Andrew Jackson Theater performance is plagued by unexplained problems and accidents that do not happen in the other two theaters. He told me the Andrew Jackson theater was cursed. This was in the late 80's. Don't know if strange things are still going on. Have fun! no1ukn0
I love the way Mr Ballen expressed himself while telling the story. It makes the experience so much more engaging, which is one of the reasons I love watching him.
I’m glad Ballen has been getting back into his more classic, paranormal content, I loved his true story videos, but this is the stuff I subscribed for back in the day. Loving it!
Thank you Mrballen for your stories, I have anxiety and panic attack but listening to your stories and voice is helping me to calm myself. Thank you so much!
@@Tonynotsoprano Yes it definitely would...and I sure as hell wouldn't watch it lol. I can't handle horror movies. I stopped watching them after I watched the Nun, maybe it sounds stupid but my friend and I watched it in an Imax theater and we both absolutely shat ourselves the entire movie through. Because I've got this tendency to always put myself in the character in the movie's shoes. I couldn't sleep for two nights.
I swear there is! Its set back then too. I forget what its called but its about this im pretty sure. I never knew there was a true story behind the movie. This is what I want from Mr Ballen This is the greatest thing It looks like he's going back to his old self doing actual strange darker mysterious stories I hope he stays at it! Awesome job!!!
I love this story & genre, but the strange, dark, & mysterious includes all types of stories. Also, there are only so many factual hauntings he can present.
Lol I’m way more scared of some cracked out jib head it’s basically like a ghost that can follow you around, break into your hope, and stab you for 20 bucks all at the same time. Lol don’t know why you guys are hyper fixated on OooooOoOOoooo…. Spooky ghosts.
There are very few storytellers that can bring people from 100 or 200 years ago to life. It’s hard to find common ground to identify with them, but when Mr Ballen tells us about them, they somehow seem ‘present’ and completely relatable. That is a real talent and unmatched as far as I am aware 👍🏻❤️
Agree. Mr Ballen makes you feel like you're listening to an old friend. In a world where technology has left us more solitary and isolated than any time in human history this experience fills a void by simulating a feeling of social connection. Storytelling is practically a lost art nowadays. It was once a valuable social skill and an important part of life especially in small towns and in pre-industrial societies. Spent much of my 20s in small island communities in the Pacific - mostly French Polynesia and Hawaii - where every community has at least one "raconteur" , often the most extroverted and entertaining member of the community, who could tell any story so that everyone would listen, hanging on their every word.
Yes but it’s still just “virtual” like, he’s not really there with you in person in fact he doesn’t know that most of us even exist. It’s a very wierd solipstic existence the powers that be are trying to herd us towards wish I could tell why “The earth is a farm We are someone else’s property” - Charles Fort
@@emperorofpluto Isn't it enthralling? Absolutely beautiful how one can make another through social media feel like a little child eagerly scooting up "criss cross apple sauce" while we await story time. A lost art, indeed. I'll take what I can get. ✨📚

I don't believe in any nonsense. Even if it were real anything that can touch me, I can can touch. Therefore, it better have steel kneecaps and eyeball shields. With that said, the one thing about this story that has always got under my skin is that Andrew Jackson was supposed to stay the night there. When morning came Andrew and his staff were gone. Now, if that bad ass couldn't make it through the night in that house I can't see how anyone could. After all, we are talking about a guy who used his cane to beat a man to death after that man shock his hand them unloaded a six shooter into him. Can you imagine anyone being that badass today. Well Trump maybe. On a good day could get shot six times from a 44 revolver then use his cane to beat the perpetrator to death.

I absolutely love how you will explain certain concepts to people who may not understand them in a way that neither makes you sound full of yourself, or condescending to the listener. I am writing to share the most incredible thing you will ever hear, and it has everything to do with your position if you will follow it. First, it is impossible that anything you can touch, taste, hear, see or smell on the face of the earth, be it lighting, tornados, rocks, life, minerals from salt to plutonium or anything that can be with the powerful telescope we have in orbit and beyond what we can see, that could possibly exist without having been created. Because of this, we can be sure that everything that is had to be made where there was absolutely nothing to make it out of. Romans 1:20 New International For since creation of the world God's invisible qualities--his eternal power and divine nature--have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been , so that people are without excuse. I am no affiliate of any Christian denomination as they are called because the enemy has a very well received counterfeit in place in nearly all of them, and the condition is terminal. I am Messianic, where I find Truth to be most rightly applied and followed. The bill of rights we share is such a blessing. But I will quote TobyMcKeehan with Times are changing/With morals in decay/Human rights have made the wrong okay. Anyone else notice how well he uses his hands to tell the stories? I’ve especially started noticing this with more of his recent videos, not saying that he didnt use his hand language before, just saying I took notice of it only about 6 months ago and ever since ive paid attention to his hand language in every video and sure enough, he has a bit of a pattern. There’s certain hand gestures he does when he says certain things and his hands tell the story just as much as his body and his mouth does. Very well done John. I remember learning about all of this in a speech class I took back in middle school which was about 16-17 years ago now? Idk why but just watching your videos just really made me think back at that one class I took and how our teacher Mr.Green explained to us the use of body language and hand gestures and how to use them when telling a story and honestly, I feel like you would’ve been the perfect example to use for these lessons he taught us all those years ago. Anyway I know this has nothing to do with this scary ass story but just wanted to let u know u know, I noticed. So good job. Keep it up!!

Suddenly, splashing footsteps came from behind, plodding through the stream. My dad and I both turned, looking on expectantly in terror when, out of the shadows, the tour guides black lab came trotting up to us for a head-scratch. Ever after, my dad and I would tease each other about who was the most terrified. For the record, he was. :)

The Bell Witch legend centers on the Bell family, who lived in Robertson County, Tennessee, in the early 19th century. The haunting began in 1817 and reportedly ended in 1821. Here's a brief timeline of the events:Start: 1817 - The Bell family started experiencing disturbances, such as strange noises, physical assaults, and unusual phenomena.End: 1821 - The haunting largely ceased after the death of John Bell, who the entity claimed to despise and supposedly poisoned. The Bell Witch legend persisted beyond 1821, with some reports suggesting sporadic activity in the years that followed, but the primary period of intense haunting lasted from 1817 to 1821.

Thank you Mr Ballen for covering this story! I live not terribly far from there, and when my children were small, we drove one day to find their farm. It wasn’t open to public but found the original farm area and a house on it. The family that lived there allowed us to explore a small cave on the Red River there on the property. We went in with kids in tow, and went on a short ‘explore’ in it. It was an easy walk with a small creek. After a short time in there, we got that ‘feeling’ we weren’t alone with the hairs on our necks prickling up. We left pretty quickly, thinking we were most likely disturbing something that was still there. This area was known to have Native Americans that lived there as well as the farming community, so we were never certain if we had disturbed them or something altogether different. I still remember that adventure very clearly. I wasn’t well acquainted with the story of the Bell witch at the time, or I’d most likely decided we shouldn’t have disturbed the area. Great addition to the strange dark and mysterious! These are such a highlight whenever you post, and I’m working through your list on Amazon Music. I remember seeing a multi-part special on a local TV channel about The Bell Witch's history when I was around 10 and was fascinated with all things paranormal from then on. It was not unusual to hear of someone having an experience, especially if they spoke negatively about the Bell Witch. Way back in 1983 when I was 15, I went to the Bell Family cemetery one night, from what I can remember, there were at least 2 massive tombstones towering above the rest. But John, Nancy, and possibly some of the children were still at the homestead just yards from the home and barn. Their tiny cemetery area was unkept and some of the stones had fallen and broken in the overgrowth. We walked around and tried the read them and I believe I did find John and Nancy's. It was one of the SCARIEST places I've ever been!!!
I think something under the bed is everyone's fear. To this day I don't like having body parts hanging over the side, but to actually hear all that under the bed would be terrifying. It's a primal fear for sure.
We had a black Labrador, who would literally eat ANYTHING! We always said he was a monster eater and would tell our son when he was very young that “there’s no monsters under your bed honey, Lenny’s eaten them all..” I don’t think we’d have been very far from the truth! He ate spiders, bugs, daddy long legs (his favourite!), bees, you name it, he did his upmost to eat it!!! It gave our child much comfort… god bless that pups soul! He went home in 2018.. 💔🐾🙏🏻 he eats bugs in God’s garden now..!
There’s a trick that when you’re drunk if you dangle your leg off the bed while trying to sleep then you won’t get nauseous but every time I try I just get too scared and would rather feel like I’m spinning than get grabbed by a demon
I'm so glad I found this channel. Thank you for the great stories you put out. I'm actually going through all your videos. Thank you they are all awesome.
I love this story! I've actually bought books on it. Thanks again Mr. B. BTW- other accounts tell of how as much a target of the infestation John Bell was, the entity seemed to absolutely dote on his wife Lucy, going so far as to manifest her favorite fresh berries from thin air to fall into her hands during a time Lucy was bedridden and it seemed to be trying to lift her spirits and restore her health. This was also in winter when they were out of season and nowhere to be found locally. The cave on the property was also used as the family's cold cellar where they stored food in the hotter months because the temperature was always cool in there
one of the books i read said the entity was either a manifestation of the oldest daughter's subconscious or an entity getting revenge for her because John had molested her.
Gaaaah, I finished the video several minutes ago, and I'm *still* having chills. I've read a couple of books and essays about the Bell Witch Haunting, and frankly, Mr. Ballen's retelling has been the scariest!

I want more of these again. The true crime lost me unfortunately and it looks like I'm not the only one to feel that way.
Mr Ballen has done it again. I have not done my jobs this afternoon. I have just listen to your stories. You are just a brilliant story teller. Thank you for your videos

I'm from Tennessee and I appreciate you telling this. I visited the Bell farm and cave. It was creepy and I did feel like there was a presence there. The cave was very scary too.
You simply have to love MrBallen's storytelling, it's like being teleported to that particular time and place, witnessing the entire event. Amazing skills 👍🏻
The way Mr Ballen can truly bring a story to life never fails to amaze me. My favourite part was when he stared directly at the camera, I got chills! Please tell more stories like this! I'd love to see a story on one of Australia's hauntings, we have a few good ones ☺️
MrBallen and his mom go the extra mile on these videos. The fact that they added a 2 second sound clip of hens to play while she was gathering eggs just to add atmosphere is the special touches that make his videos the absolute best.

@KaizerWarrex,
Beware of Scammer replying Prize!
Have fun!

Once again, a very well told and engrossing story. I haven’t quite reached the end yet, but I have to make a quick comment. I absolutely love how you will explain certain concepts to people who may not understand them in a way that neither makes you sound full of yourself, or condescending to the listener. You just tell them what it is, from an every day tool somebody may use, to a piece of clothing, to a certain kind of building. I really appreciate the way you do that.

So you see, there is a God. I myself have studied world religions in depth in college and much more so on own time. I have found that the only religion that holds water is Christianity. I am only showing you the way as I have found it through much study and life experience. Perhaps my best case for Truth of this is found in the book of Habakkuk 1-2:17 where he was given a vision of Adolf Hitler and Nazi Germany. Some very strong and interesting proof is in the discovery of Sodom and Gomorrah. This is in these videos. Brimstone such as is found near these two infamous cities is found nowhere else on earth. Yet here it is still, a God-given supernatural element to warn those who would live against Him. 2 Peter 2:6 If He condemned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah to destruction, reducing them to ashes as an example of what is coming on the ungodly; He is love or He wouldn't have warned us.After much consideration I found truth best taught and followed as a Messianic.

I've been on a guided tour of the Bell property which included a tour of the cave. A small stream, no more than 10 - 12 inches across, runs through the middle of the cave and my dad and I were in the back of the tour group.

Thank you for the enormous amount of work you put into these stories! 👻❤️

I was born in TN and my grandparents lived in Robertson County. The Bell Witch was a huge part of the folklore there.

What books did you get,and where?🥺
