My best friend was almost killed and when I got my motorcycle, he was very against it, but for my safety, so he bought me a Shoei. This helmet will always mean a lot to me. I will always keep it. I had no idea the work that went into these. Makes me appreciate them more.
My first helmet was a fairly cheap Nolan, from Italy. At some pint in the mid 90s I bought a Shoei RF-200 that was reasonably priced, and I had an RF-700 at some point. But these days I like the modular HJC helmets with the built-in visors; a third of the price of today's Shoei and I prefer them.
Hit a deer at speed with my shoei x-11 , killed the deer, destroyed my concours 14 , broke 3 ribs and road rash......shoei was my safety shield! Shoei ,Always the best and the hell with the rest!
I've worn Shoei helmets for over 25+ years exclusively. Just picked up my new RF-1200 today! Also got the mirror lens and waiting for the Transitions lens to come off of backorder. Once you own a Shoei it's hard to see the value in anything else.
after a lot of years since my last Duotec, I just bought a NXR (or RF-1200 in US). Great helmet, super small and compact. I use it on my Gixxer 1000 and even without a great aerodynamic look (like the x14 - Spirit 3), it has super low drag and behaves great at speeds of 150+ (talking about mph). Great helmet.
Just make sure it fits your head right. Shoei isn't a one size fits all head types. Most important part of choosing the right helmet is the fit to the SHAPE(not size) of your head.
+Jason B- I do the same thing at slower speeds 30mph & lower (so it's not very often..lol). I'm guessing you meant that it whistles when its down at higher speeds. If this is the case it would be the gasket going around the eye port. Hope this helps. -Phoenixx
Don't know if you noticed the 2 screw adjusters that allow the visor to have a perfect seal. Mine used to whistle closed at 80+ speeds, now it's perfect.
Iv'e tried a few other helmet brands and I always end up wearing my Shoei j cruise or Qwest. they aren't the most expensive Shoei helmets, but they what I can afford. I like them a lot. I guess I won't waste anymore time or money on other brands. Plus the size large always fits my dome. I like how the Scorpion fit, but damn, if it wasn't a bitch to take off. Exo was a large. Maybe the xl would have gone on and off easier, but it would have been loose while on. If anyone has another suggestion as far as brands, let me know. Also, luckily I have never wrecked hard enough to speak for head injuries. I ride a cruiser.
Lol, someone needs to do their research. Snell rated helmets have been tested against British spec helmets, and have been found to have a harder inner liner, which doesn't deflect as well as the softer inner liner in the Suomy helmet. Which means it doesn't slow your head as well. I figure if you have no clue what a Suomy helmet is, you definitely don't have a clue about which helmet is safer. Come back when you get your homework done....
Yep, you definitely have no clue. First I'm over 60, and have been riding for 30 years. Next, I live in Oregon....last time I checked, it's still in the United States. Now, go check AGV and Suomy.....both ECE certified, and both used by Moto GP riders. And again, according to the study I read (it was published in Motorcyclist Magazine and other publications), ECE spec helmets test better in the g force test. That test doesn't test the helmet for for impact resistance....the only test Snell helmets get. It tests for how many Deceleration g's the helmet absorbs....that's what really saves your brain. Any decent helmet survives an impact, but what happens to your head inside the helmet? That's what the test is for, and Suomy and AGV came out on top. Funny thing....some DOT only helmets did better on that test than the Snell helmets they tested. So, sure, you stick with your one trick Snell helmet....I'll stick with the helmet that doesn't just protect your head, but your brain as well.
@@steimystein4368 Than just get the shoei x14 (x-spirit 3 in europe) it's DOT, ECE and Snell certified and gets a 5 out of 5 on the sharp rating. Everybody happy.

Have worn SHOEI helmets for the last 30yrs....I have no complaints👍
I like the use of the phrase 'mind blowing' in this video.

I've worn different helmets over the years but the shoei for me is head and shoulders over other makes from comfort to quietness

Did you ever get the transition lens yet?
Yes!
+S Hubbard how do you like it? Would you recommend it?
+INFINITYCL , I highly recommend it, very impressive!!!
S Hubbard Who did you order from? Everyone has them on backorder.
I'm happy with my GT-Air. It's always interesting to see the manufacturing process.
GT-Air is also my fav
why not the NXR?

I like my icon, but am super excited to get the X14
Got the shoei 1200. Thinking of getting Arai defiant x. Then I will be the judge which is the best.

Arai is life
patrick balagtas Arai is ugly af though
yamaha426rider but There is a reason why arai just have a oval Shell shape
Arai. Nuff said.
Arai just make the same helmets over and over again with a different name, shoei innovate and add new developments
Well that's a good question.
I'll keep dreaming about owning a Shoei helmet in my life. It'll remain a dream 😋😋
I'm sold
The power of Japanese helmet
I sleep in my Shoei helmet so I can smell the Japanese uwu
my NXR whistles with the screen open at 40 to 60 klms very annoying & disapointing i like riding slow with the screen up.

don't forget to put silicone oil for the perfect seal

Freggin infomercial...why, that's all I need to know.
No thanks, I'll stick with Suomy. I don't buy Snell rated helmets, I prefer the safer British standards.
