- I graduated pharmacy school in 2020, finished my residency in 2021, and have officially been a full-time clinical hospital pharmacist ever since. I know, wild!
As a float pharmacist, I float around the hospital working different shifts. So that means my hours can vary. Some days I end early so I like to grocery shop and enjoy my time cooking dinner. Some days I start late so I get to enjoy cooking breakfast and relaxing at home during the day. Every day is different so there is always something new to look forward to!
This week, I wanted to chat about normalizing not wanting to climb the ladder and that it is okay to prioritize our hobbies sometimes. I also answer some of your common questions while I rearrange my home office. I am also thinking of making a new Etsy product for my fellow pharmacy graduates!

Really fascinating! What's your favorite and least favorite part? I think the discharge planning is so interesting.
hi Sarah, congrats for the new workstation!
Thank you! I’m very happy with the change 🥹
your artworks look awesomeeee!!
Thank you so much!! Hehe
By the way, the admissions for University of Florida College of Pharmacy told me that it’s not mandatory for me to work as a pharmacy technician for about a year. They only wanted my experience what I did throughout my undergraduate years besides studying. I worked as a college algebra tutor for nearly two years, I’m sure that counts
Yes it’s not mandatory! It’s just good if you can, but definitely not required :) tutoring is great job experience too! Pharmacists do a lot of teaching so that’s a good skill to have
Hey Sarah, I have disappointing news. Turns out Florida, my state, has been very difficult for me to get a job as a pharmacy technician 😭😭😭 I spoke to one of the pharmacy managers in one of my interviews, and they mentioned that it’s best for me to get a job as a pharmacy intern while I’m in pharmacy school. Because if I were to get hired at either retail, community or hospital for pharmacy tech, I’d have to go through 3-5 months of training and then work for long terms. However there’s a huge possibility that I’m getting accepted to my dream pharmacy school (University of Florida) to start my PharmD program next year. What should I do?
Hi Julian! Don’t be discouraged, I think what the pharmacy manager mentioned is good advice! When you start pharmacy school, you can work part time as a pharmacy intern rather than a pharmacy technician. You’ll still get a similar experience or even better since your title is considered a pharmacist in training so they might allow you to do a little more. It’s okay to wait to see if you get into pharmacy school first, especially if the chances are high! I don’t know how it’ll be at your pharmacy school, but a lot my classmates and I were recruited for pharmacy internships DURING our first year at my pharmacy school so most of us started our internships the summer after P1 year. So don’t feel the need to rush!
Which country you are from ?
United States!
Can I also have your Gmail address so I could keep in touch with you in case if I have any more questions regarding pharmacy, as well as advices from you please?
My professional email is posted on my channel! My response rate can vary since I have a busy work schedule though so my apologies in advance if it takes me a while to get back!
