  • Essential MTB tools for your ride featuring a DIY tool roll and trail side bike maintenance and repair.
Even on short rides you can have mechanical problems that require some tools and parts. After changing from a large pack to a smaller Dakine Hot Laps 5L waist pack, I found myself lacking in some critical parts of my emergency bike repair inventory. In order to fit these things I made a tool pouch to attach under my fanny pack, allowing for more room for my food and water as well as first aid.

Thanks! Yeah, I'm all about making stuff, wood, fabric whatever. Just need to get myself a welder😀

@@TrailBreaker Whatever you do just don't try to weld fabric. My meem is still made at me about setting that fire that one time.

We are pretty new to the mtb community. Many of your hacks are going to go far for us but with that said, I do like to have a decent sized multi sided screwdriver. The kind with 2 size philips and flat you just pull them out and flip them over. Relatively cheap. Thank you for this info. It will really go a long way for us.

Thanks Brian! Yup, you gotta customize your bag. Over time you'll get it dialed👊

Trexx 454 Both are good! I have a ziplock baggie with TP, alcohol wipes, bandaids and Neosporum in the main bag. Flashlight is my phone. Better get a backup 😊

5:40 I have Wolftooh Pack Pliers which you can store to pairs of chain links. It also has valve core tool.
Report Music spambot, also if you see Logan it's probably spam bot too.

Thanks! I saw those. Would probably come in handy. Would've bought them except the only function I didn't have was the chain pliers part.

@@TrailBreaker for me it was a good buy, but of course depends on what you already have, but I like having the chain links secure in the tool, it uses magnets to keep them secure.

I just ordered that same hip hydration pack from REI - tired of the big Camelback 3 L pack. Too hot in the summer aurs.nd lots of weight too high. Going to get mine stocked up like you.

Like your little pouch 👍. You could probably sell them ha ha
I have to admit that since I got my new bike I don't carry any tools. I like travelling light. I need to get organised.
Have you actually needed any of your spares/tools while you're out and about?

Yeah, Actually a couple of times. The most recent time I mentioned in the video where my tube was bad. I've given out master links and tubes a bunch of times😀

Hi love your vids! May I ask if the dakine hot laps 5l does it flop alot when riding and may I know what the cons of it please. Thanks!

    • @TrailBreaker
      @TrailBreaker  3 роки тому

Thanks, Jav! It doesn't if you tighten the side straps and the straps at the bottom. Pros: small, low center of gravity, light weight. Cons: With my tools and food packed I can only get about a liter of water in the bladder and the bladder is difficult to clean

This one is by 4mycycle which is no longer available on Amazon. It's fine I just wish it had a small hose to connect to the stem
