Salad Days of Walter, The Zany Zeitgeist of Zieff in the 70's, What's Not to Like?... Completely logical pairing of Matthau, at the height of his slyly droll, unassuming leading man status with the unheralded, underappreciated Zieff. Howard quietly put together a modestly brilliant string of completely ingratiating comedic gems, with the likes of A-Listers' such as Caan, Arkin, Hawn, Streisand and stuffy Brit' Jackson, who appears in this very enjoyable n' amusing little lark featuring the lovely Azzara. That Late 70's Hollywood Vibe, Everything is Going to be Just Fine...
I guess this is the closest we'll ever get to seeing the original Carney/Matthau incarnation of The Odd Couple. How did they get along on set? Also, you're great! 👍🏾
The reason Harry died... is because Amos TOLD Anne at reception, "Harry Grady DOESN'T fill in forms!" So... it's ALL Amos' fault! This movies is one of those I find myself fantasizing about... as in, "What would I have done in this situation?" And the whole thing hinges... on Charley LYING to Anne about where he was going that night. Had he TOLD THE TRUTH... which he could have done... he could have gotten Anne ON HIS SIDE... and avoided all the turmoil. And, of course, all the comedy of the last act of the story. But I like to think, if I'd been in Charley's situation, that's EXACTLY what I would have done. (Because I REALLY, really liked Anne.)
Great movie.
You were great in Easy Money.
When this came out in the 70's, my physician father laughed so hard, there were tears. Hilarious movie !
