There's nothing like the feeling of a proper bike dancing under your feet. I've got 3, for various situations. Tried an ebike once and couldn't stand the heavy ponderous clunkiness of it.
My health would be an absolute wreck without riding. I took a few years off ago because of business, gained 40 kilos, knees hurt, out of breath walking up stairs, doctor told me my heart was swollen. Getting back on the bike solved all of those problems.

People keep asking me (46 years old) when I'm going to get an e-bike. My standard response is "I might look into it in about 30 years." Pedaling a bike is the only reason I went from 120kg to 95kg (and still dropping).

I just did the same thing for the same reasons. I'll keep both bikes for now, but I really like the freedom of not worrying about the battery. I've run out before and it's not fun peddling a 70 pound\31 kg bike with a dead battery. 😭😂🚴‍♀️

I think it's great . Not much in it mph wise . And as you say gives you the freedom to go as far as you like care free . No doubt average mph will go up with bike miles . I did a similar thing earlier this year at age 61 and 20 odd years no biking, decided to get back into biking. I considered a ebike but ruled it out much the same as you i want to come and go when if feel like it . Sadly i made a bit of a mistake in getting a used expensive full on carbon race bike . I should have got a bkie like what you got . Super light might be a bit more lively but i bit more limited in carry on gear . Good luck with the new bike .

You obviously ride on flat roads, at 64 living in Spain with average 1500/2000m climbing on 80km ride. You would have an e-bike. I ride with a mate he is 75 and couldn't do these hills/ mountain rides without his e-bike.

@@championkhamis12 Far from it. I'm a cancer survivor, and have an irreparably torn right shoulder cuff (A reverse full replacement has been offered. I declined due to the prob ability of having another accident, a wise choice in retrospect). I'm just driven (pun intended) to escape. I also carefully watch my diet and escape on the commuter trains in the Greater Toronto Area to towns or small cities where I can cycle through the country tracks and lanes to another locale, and then take another train back into Toronto. Now that I'm in my mid-seventies, optimal distance is now about 70kms, situation dependent, Bear in mind that if you can walk all day, you can cycle farther on a bike...and sitting down most of the distance.
Party Pace is more than just a concept. Good machine, good day and a good route? You can plan it all on averaging 20kph easily, which allows side trips to widen the adventure.

what a great bike!. that ebike is nice for short commutes in town, not for what you are wanting to do, exploring the countryside. and its not a race its the ride to where you want to be/go in your own time!

good expensive ebikes I mean like the 750wh battery bosch cx4 or whatever won't have range problems unless you climb 1-2 mountains or do 50+ miles but it's better you got back to a real one because I know an elderly that tought his emtb allowed him to "keep cycling" but they don't they are motorbikes and after 2 years his fitness degraded and he can't ride even his ebike I'm overweight and did a test on a 21% slope here 1:5 I think british call them not only was my speed 3x 7.4mph rather than 2-2.5 on a muscular bike but it was barely an effort compared to "omg my heart is going to explode" on a muscular bike I don't think saying the speed effort ratio on a good emtb being 20x or 30x less is exagerated, those are motorbikes not bicycles there's also the fact that every bump or turn or anything really you slow down with a muscular bike and you have to put an effort to get your speed back all that doesn't exist on an ebike I crank 2-3 times I'm at 15mph, I plan to buy a good emtb but only because I live near mountains and they would allow me to reach impossible otherwise forest and farm trails, technically I can do it on muscles but last time my vision blurred and I barely knew my name anymore I couldn't ride for 1 week after that

this is , if you budget is 1000euro you get a low entry ebike , that will be heavy with cheap and bad components, if you spend the same money on normal bike you a pretty good bike with nice components , if you live someware flat , and don t doo more than 5-10km .and are not overweight or too old , a normal bike is better option .

Good move. Unless you have a medical condition (fat and lazy doesn't count) or a purpose that needs battery assist, you should reap the benefits of pedal bikes. Greater health. Greater fitness. Longer life. Higher quality life.

Bit rubbish, depends on much more than that. If you live in a hilly area for instance it gives you more ability to go further and you adjust your power usage accordingly.
