Since 2007, we have installed gates improving access on the Helm for all to enjoy. We have also introduced a rare breed of Fell Pony, native to Cumbria. Why I Dumped The E-Bike For A Gravel Bike
Great video mate 👍 ❤❤❤
@@garethwatkins6347 Thanks Pal 👍🏻
Smashing walk with so many striking Lakeland views courtesy of the aerial footage. Autumn colours, milky streams, and livestock as willing extras - you got it all.
Thanks buddy. Not been out for a couple weeks with work. Was a nice break to get out with the lad visiting us from Yorkshire.
I have the BK5 which has a 36 volt 8.4 Ah battery. I have bought another battery that has 21 Ah, which gives me an extra two hours riding. Unlike your bike, mine doesn’t have gears, just 3 assists. I think it would be better for you to buy the same size battery which is quite expensive but worth it having gears.
@@BRIAN19541 thanks Brian 👍🏻
Thanks 👌🏼👍🏼
Fantastic episode man, scenes are simply incredible!
Thanks Pal 🙌🏼
❤❤❤
@@garethwatkins6347 👍🏻
You were absolutely correct, I enjoyed every minute. I never tire of the natural beauty that surrounds you. Do take care out and about alone. And take care not to disturb the wee fairies 🧚🏼 that live in the woods. 💕
Thanks Kim, we do have another woods not far from here called the Fairy Steps. Might have to pay a visit there 😊
@@GrandadRambles yes I would love that.
I've been meaning to watch your new drone footage videos, I love the scenery you have around there. I have a drone s well, but wrecked it within 15min of trying to learn with too many trees around, your videos may inspire me to attempt a repair job so I can fly around and chase the turkeys!🤣😂 I hope you are having a wonderful weekend, I'll be back to watch more of these great videos soon. Take care Rob and say hello to Collette.😊❤
Fantastic scenery. I'm so jealous!👍👍👍
Thanks Paul 👍🏻
Very lovely. Nice to see Collette and Poppy.
Thanks Kim
Nice one ❤❤❤
Thanks Gareth 👍🏻
Haven't been up there for over 3 decades but I used to live in Oxenholme in one of the cottages just round the corner from the petrol station so was up the Helm many times.
Thanks Brian, was a first for me going up there. Will definitely return at a later date 😊👍🏻
looks beautiful mate ❤❤❤

I really enjoy your channels, not just because I think the world of you and Collette but because it allows me to see beautiful sights I will probably never be able to see in person. Keep it up 👍 I enjoy watching.
Thanks Kim 😊
Definitely get more Batteries, the flying more kit would’ve been the way to go in the first place as it works out cheaper. The batteries are £60 each and the charging hub is £40 and that will charge all three batteries one after the other rather than having to charge each one of them up in the Dronebut welcome to the community. Hope you have fun.
Thanks Mark, yeah, should of got the pack. Hopefully will get there in the end haha
Nice video ❤❤❤
Thanks Gareth 😊
Welcome to the new drone. I quite enjoyed the aerial footage. Absolutely stunning. All my best to you and Collette. 💕
@@beekind9832 thanks Kim
lovely walk Rob...lovely colors and a great view
Thanks Clive. Plenty more colours to come now we are heading thick and fast into Autumn 🍂 😊👍🏻
Great vid Rob and what a find Giants Bench is 👍
@@BobHodgkiss thanks Bob 😊🙌🏼
Absolutely beautiful. My imagination ran wild as I looked around and thought oh I’d love to go to the giants bench with a pillow and throw and a sketch ✍🏻 book and watercolors and sit for hours listening to the birds singing while sketching the amazing views. Sounds dreamy!! Problem with that dream is that I have no artistic talent, can’t even draw a stick man. lol but a girl can dream. All in all it was a very enjoyable video. Lovely to behold. Have an excellent day and say hello to Collette for me. ❤
Thanks Kim, Collette says hi 👋 😊😊
Great video and it didn't rain ❤❤❤
Hopefully it will hold off for the rest of the day 😊🙌🏼👍🏻

Well done mate 👏 ❤❤❤
Thanks Gareth 😊👍🏻
Ollie said to Stan many times: “This is a fine mess you've gotten us into.” From a giant hill to a giant messy road… this was the first thought that came to my mind. lol 😂 but I’m proud you made it.
Haha, I will have to look out for that episode, love Laurel & Hardy :)
Well done Rob!
Thanks Paul 👍🏻
@37:31 Brilliant shot GR
Thanks 😊👍🏻
well done on the weight loss. I've lost just over 2 stone in the last 6 months thanks to cycling and slimming world!
Thanks Paul and well done on your weight loss as well. Really good 👍🏻 🙌🏼🚲
Hello , good to see you getting exercise even though assisted. it does help when we begin to deteriorate slowly 😁 I notice @19:26 your power setting is reduced to No.1 going up hill , best if you select no. 3 power for full and gear 3 to 4 .,..will give you more energy from motor then back to No.2 on flat cruise I have just began E-bike exercise myself , so well done Grandad ,,all the best from this Grandad, all the best 🙏 EDIT now subscriber 👌
Thanks very much. The e-bike has gone now and I am now using a normal bike, I didn’t feel I was getting the right exercise. It was good for me to start off with an e-bike after being some years out of the saddle. I don’t think I could have gone straight into the bike I’ve got now without the help of buying the e-bike first. 👍🏻🚲😊
Great to see the gaffer out with you ❤❤❤
Haha cheers Gareth 😊👍🏻
We have some nice nature trails here but you have to be very careful of snakes 🐍. It is beautiful there. Nice to see Collette today. 😊
Thanks Kim, don’t think I could cope with the snakes 😮
well done Rob!
Thanks Paul 🙌🏼🚲
Very handsome bike you got there rambler. Cool trail too.
Thank you so much. Yes, didn’t take me long to fall in love with this bike haha 🙌🏼😊🚲
just found your channel Rob. Great to see a REAL cyclist struggling up hills! well done and keep it up.
Thanks Paul, never been called a real cyclist before haha, I’ll take that, thanks ☺️ 🙌🏼🚲
Tek it up hard knott
Haha, the bike will but as for me. I’m a long way off 😂
Cheers for the shout-out, Rob. Morecambe Bay looked beautiful. For me it's about enjoyment, escapism, and small challenges - finding your level and just nudging it a bit. You're already remarking on your progression and here you were cruising stuff that would've been a bigger deal a couple of months ago. That's a really good all-round bike and having that big 42T will get you out of a lot of sticky situations. I did a multi-surface route 'The Wakefield Wheel' in April and used tyres like yours ( I think they were 1.5" ) - they coped with everything yet they still roll nicely on tarmac.
@@clippingin1593 Thanks Gordon, no worries on the shoutout, least I could do for all the videos you have done to help with my progress, we certainly are getting some good weather over the Morecambe Bay. Missed most of it today being in work, I went out early this morning, very early 3am as I knew the village would be quiet to try and get a least 1 KOM, I got none 😂 but a few personal best haha. My plan didn’t work but was fun to go out at that time haha. Thanks Again Gordon 🙌🏼😊🚲
Nice one ❤❤❤
Thanks Gareth 😊🚲🙌🏼
I’m going to have a look at a Giant Seek 0 next week with a view to buy so that I can give my MTB a rest .
Hope it works out for you Doug 🙌🏼👍🏻🚲
Thank you ,so do I .It’s my birthday in a couple of weeks Jackie said she would buy the the bike as a present for me .
@@dougfields5798 sounds like ya got a good un there pal, my Mrs got me cycling gloves 😂
Great video and well done, can you share where you are when doing your recording and if possible the route please
Thanks Shaun, will mention in future. I also record my routes on Strava if that’s any help. Thanks strava.app.link/VcClTmYzXMb
Keep cycling! Good job!
Thanks ☺️ 🙌🏼🚲…..
Nicely done, Rob. A couple of big testpieces which give you a sense of progress. I wouldn't put too much faith into the gradients displayed on road signs - they average everything out for motor-powered people. Have a look at the Strava segments on a desktop and you can trace the gradients. I had a quick look at your ride and 'Beetham Steep Stuff' has sections of 19.8% going into the right-hander. Serious gradients! Keep it going.
😮 ohhh my goodness. I did 19.8% 😮 that’s unbelievable haha. Thanks so much Gordon for the info. I will take a look on the laptop. Thanks so much Gordon 😊🙌🏼🚲
Great to see you back mate 👍 ❤❤❤
Thanks Gareth 😊🙌🏼👍🏻
Oh Rob be careful 🥺 I don’t like you breathing like that 😓❤
I’m fine thanks Sue, don’t be worrying. I don’t often get to breathe like that at my age anymore 😂 x
@@GrandadRambles hahaha .. please just take it easier tho, not to the point of almost collapsing 😩 x❤️
@@heidibobs1510 👍🏻 will do 😊❤️🚲
@@GrandadRambles thank you ☺️ ..and just to add I’m still proud of you ❤️
Well done!! 👍 I think I was holding my breath in anticipation and kept thinking go Rob….go Rob…. So proud when you crested that hill. 😊
Awww thanks Kim, was well pleased with myself. Ya probably could tell haha
I’ve been watching your progress with interest for a few weeks now ( well done ) ,I’m on a very similar journey regarding fitness and cycling .I’m a fair bit older than you but after a couple of months riding I can manage 15 miles most mornings without collapsing when I get off the bike ,not much of an accomplishment for some but I’m chuffed and I’ll get further and further on the bike in the coming weeks.
@@dougfields5798 that’s a huge accomplishment Doug, 15 miles is not to be sniffed at. Plus you can’t do 15 miles sat in a chair. Well done. Sounds like you’re doing fantastic 😊🙌🏼👍🏻🚲
Nicely done. I had a few holidays in the Carnforth / Bolton-le-Sands area as a kid and it's lovely countryside - great to catch a glimpse of Morecambe Bay on the descent section. Those types of hills really take it out of you and the GoPro wide lenses never give a true impression of gradient. Keep at it and you'll cruise that circuit in a few months.
Thank you so much Gordon, one day at a time and I’m sure I will 😊🚴
